It was morning and everyone was still awake, except for Arjun and me.

“We need to carry father’s corpses from there. We need to give him a befitting burial.” Arjun said to me as we both glared at the rest of us who were sleeping.

“Yes. We should do that now.” I responded and we began to walk away when we heard Aaron speak behind us.

“Where are you going without me? You know we are in this together.” He said and we looked back.

“We thought you were still asleep, and we didn’t want to disturb,” I told and he shook his head.

“I wasn’t asleep. I have been up all night thinking about last night’s incident. And then I remembered the king and queen weren’t in the cave. Are they okay?” He asked and I looked at Arjun.

“No. They died.” He responded and Aaron’s mouth fell open.

“What? how did that even happen!” He asked as we kept walking away from the cave.

“We couldn’t save them on time, they were still in the building when we were evacuating. The funniest aspect is that we didn’t even remember them on time.” I explained and he sighed.

“Oh, God… That is so bad. Are you two alright?” He asked and I smiled with the corner of my mouth.

“We are cool. It’s since last night, we have gotten over it.” I said and Arjun nodded.

Inwardly I noticed Arjun had not gotten over it at all, but we needed to act strong in front of the people. They are looking up to us now.

“So where are we headed now?” Aaron inquired.

“To get father’s corpse out of there, and if possible find mother’s too,” Arjun responded and I looked at him again.

He sounded like he was trying so hard not to burst into tears.

We kept walking and soon we began to see the smoke from the houses that were destroyed yesterday.

We got to the place and we looked at the buildings with great amusement. It looked more damaged than we thought it would be.

“I can’t still get how the fire was so great under that heavy downpour,” Aaron said and Arjun approached one of the buildings squatting in front of it.

“They used a flammable liquid.” He said sniffing in something he packed from the walls with his finger.

“That doesn’t matter anymore. Let’s get father’s body out of here.” I said with vengeance screaming inside of me.

We got to where father laid and we could see his burns. He was burnt, no part of his body escaped the fire.

Tears filled my eyes as I saw him in that state.

“Who could ever think the great King Maeko would die a shameful death?” I said aloud and tears rolled down Arjun’s face.

“Though I hated him because he always acted like a d**k, I am going to miss him so much.” Arjun declared In a shaky voice.

Just then we heard footsteps behind us. We looked back to see it was Mei.

“What in the hell are you doing here!” I yelled approaching her.

“Oh My…You are alive! You are alive! Where is Akira?” She asked eagerly and happily.

“You expect us to answer that? you traitor!” Aaron yelled in rage.

“What? I am no traitor! I was never told what Katika was up to.” She announced and I sneered.

“Do we look stupid to you? She is in love with you. She would tell you.” Aaron added.

“Believe me! I didn’t know. I would have talked her out of the evil act. Why would I even support her to kill you all? My childhood friends are here for crying out loud!” She exclaimed.

“The childhood friend you once betrayed,” I said in rage.

“Mei you need to do other things than drive us down memory lane if you want us to believe you,” Arjun said.

“Fine! Maya’s birthday is coming up in three days.” She said and we all were like “So?”

“Don’t you get it? This could be our time to fight back.” She stated but I just couldn’t bring myself to believe it.

“What if this is another trap?” Aaron asked her.

“I swear it’s not! Can’t you just trust me this one time?” She asked and Arjun shook his head.

“Not after losing my birth parents on the same night.” He said and her eyes widened.

“The King and Queen are dead?” She asked in shock and she began to irritate me.

“Stop pretending and get the hell out of here b**ch,” I said walking away.

Aaron and Arjun shook their heads and follow behind me.

“Fine! I would kill katika to show you my loyalty lies here.” She said and we all stopped walking abruptly.

“What? You would kill the love of your life to prove your loyalty?” Aaron asked.

“I never loved Katika. She was just there to give me pleasure. She loves me and that makes me her weakness. I can get rid of her easily.” She said and we all looked at ourselves speechlessly.

“When do you plan on doing this?” I asked.

“On Maya’s birthday! I would get rid of that b**ch.” She said with her jaw clenched.

“Fine. Get rid of her, and we would plan the rest.” Arjun said and she bobbed.

Her phone rang all of a sudden, and she pulled it out.

“So she uses a phone now.” I thought.

“It’s Katika.” She said picking up and moving the phone towards us.

“Mei where are you? the stroll is taking too long. I feel you are still mad at me for last night.” Katika told and we all looked at Mei.

“I would be back soon. I need to grief.” Mei responded and we waited impatiently for her response.

“Please be back soon. I miss you already.” She said and Mei scoffed silently.

“Will be back soon.” She said and hung up the call.

We all looked at each other not knowing what to do or say.

“Do you believe me now? I got angry with her because she never told me her plans and she claims to love me. She apologizes but I can’t forgive her. If she told me I would have told you to watch out.” She said and I sighed.

“Fine. Before I can trust you again, I need to hear that Katika is dead and you killed her.” I declared.

“Deal.” She said eagerly and we nodded.

“You should go back to her now. She shouldn’t know we are still breathing.” Arjun added.

“Got it.” She said and turned back.

She walked away and we all got silent for some minutes sinking the information in.

Claire’s POV

I turned around…….

But I didn’t see any one, so I turned back to the fridge but the sound of a door slammed startled me, almost making the apple fall from my hand.

Is he back in his room?

I pricked my ears but didn’t hear anything else. I wanted to look around the penthouse but I decided against, it’s better I stay in the kitchen and finish my apple before I call it a day.

The next morning I woke up with a satisfied smile on my lips. I still can’t believe I get to wake up in such a beautiful room.

This is it, after everything, today’s the first day of my internship at Knight Gaming. I hope I make a great first impression at work.

Wait a second…….I left my luggage at the bar yesterday!

I have nothing to wear!

I look down at the outfit I fell asleep in.

I can’t possibly show up at my dream job in clothes from yesterday. I smell like blend of alcohol, sweat, drool and disappointment.

I look around the room and notice the cupboard in the corner.

I sigh, I wonder if there’s anything inside.

I open it and just as luck would have it, I found some clothes inside.

“Wow” I bounced in joy and did a little joy dance.

This is more like it! I’m sure to make the perfect first impression in these clothes. But my joy was short lived, as reality struck me, these clothes that I’m happy about I don’t who they belong to. I keep the clothes back in the cupboard and my shoulder slumped down in sadness. I better not wear those…. since I don’t know who they belong to, also I don’t need to depend on my looks to impress them.

I step out of my bedroom and stride down the hallway with this thought playing in my head ‘ I wonder if I’ll meet the owner today’

But I guess I won’t, because the penthouse is empty. I guess he left already, oh well, Knight Gaming here I come. I bath and put on my clothes from yesterday.

I finally arrived at the office, my steps falter as I make my way through the lobby, trying to take it all in.

The posters, the figurines, the atmosphere……. I’m actually here, I’m actually about to work for Knight Gaming! It was all worth it.

After registering at the reception, I’m ushered into a room with all the other interns. The lady that ushered me here, stood in front of us, she’s professionally dressed in black pencil skirt and pink body fit long sleeves. She cleared her throat to get our attention.

“Welcome to Knight Gaming, interns. I believe our company need no further introduction. My name is Raven and I’m your supervisor. Over the course of the next three months, you’ll be given plenty of opportunities to show us what you got, and at the end of your internship only those who have impress us will be offered a highly coveted full-time position” Raven explained looking at our faces as if she can tell who is ready for this job by mere looking at us.

Wow, I have to fight for it……..

“Now if you’ll follow me I’ll give you a quick tour of the place” Raven said.

I gather my things and follow behind hastily. We got to an office and Raven stop, so we all stopped too.

“This office belongs to our CEO, Mr Killian Knight, he was only twenty when he started Knight Gaming. Fast forward to six years later and we’re now one of the world’s largest gaming companies” Raven explained.

All the other female interns are swooning over what Raven just said, I on the other hand, I scoffed mentally. Although I haven’t seen him in person, but who hasn’t heard of him? He’s a legend!

“Be warned, Mr Knight expect nothing less than perfection, even from our interns” she said furthermore.

I hope I can meet his expectations. I wondered if I’ll ever get to meet him in person. After the tour Raven show me a desk where I’ll be sitting with other interns.

“There will be plenty of team projects, so take some time to get to know each other better, I’ll come in an hour with your first assignment” she left.

I glanced around nervously.

There are lots of interns, I don’t know if I should make the first move and greet them first. After thinking about it for some seconds, I mustered enough courage and take the lead. I turn to the girl on my right, a friendly smile on my lips.

“Hi there, my name’s Claire. What’s yours?”

“Hey I’m Charlotte. Are you just as nervous as I am? ” The girl whom I know just now as Charlotte asked.

“You bet, but I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about. We’ll do fine” I assured her.

Just then someone tap me on my shoulder.

” Hey” a male voice said.

I turn around and come face to face with one of the brightest smile I’ve ever seen. He looks every bit like a golden poster boy and I can’t help but be charmed by his friendly deposition.

“I’m Derrick and you are…..” He trails off waiting for me to complete his sentence. He also extend his hand for a handshake but I don’t do handshakes so I high five him instead.

“I’m Claire” Derrick seems little aback when I decide to smack his hand but quickly replaced it with a grin.

“Claire I love your energy” he said.

“Hey Claire right?” Charlotte cut in, I nod. ” So the other interns and I were talking, I graduated from LA school of arts, only one of the most prestigious arts school in the world. No biggie”

She point over to a guy in glasses.

” Glen over there is the son of the head of design at Knight Gaming. And Timothy over there has already design two gaming apps with a million downloads each” she paused. ” Everyone seems to have some crazy incredible background and we’re curious about you. Where are you from?” She finally asked the question I have long expected her ask me.

” I graduated from a community college in morfield!” I answered.

“Community….. College? Morfield? Where in the world is that?” She asked.

” It’s a small town. I just moved here actually”

” What about your parents? Or have you design anything we might have seen?” She asked again.

” My parents own a small grocery store in the town center……” I trail off “, I haven’t gotten to designing anything because I barely had any resources but…………”

” Wow” Charlotte cut me off. ” Knight Gaming actually accepts people like you?” She mocked. I thought she was actually a nice and friendly girl, why is she behaving like this now.

I decided to stay silent and ignore her.

“Lay off Charlotte, we all had to submit a sample of our work. Claire must have been just as impressive as you to get in here” Derrick shunned Charlotte.

” Right. Sorry, I got carried away” she apologized. An embarrass Charlotte turns away and continue talking to the other interns.

“Ignore her, some people are just like that”

“Thanks. What about you? Do have a fancy degree too?” I asked him. He chuckled.

” I’m not one to brag. But……” He leans in closer and my stomach did a little flip. He’s an attractive man alright and up close, I’m even more certain of it. Derrick flashes me another one of his poster boy grin. But this time, I detect a hint of cheekiness behind it.

Is he flirting with me?.

“Grab a cup of coffee with me and I’ll tell you more about myself. We have some time to kill anyway” he said.

I think about his offer a little.

” I would love to but we just got here, so I’d like to stick around for a bit to learn more about the company” I politely decline his offer.

“Oh, of course. Besides, we’ll have plenty of time to get to know each other better” he said.

Right at that moment Raven came back.

” Claire, is it?” She asked me.

” Y-yes?” I answered, well more like question.

“Here’s the list of our games. For your first day, I’d like you to play all of them and sumbit a report on your likes and dislikes with suggestions for improvement of course” she said.

I collected the list from her.

” I’ll get to it right away!”

” Looking forward to your work” she left.

Well, I guess mom was right after all, I’m here to play games. But for the right reasons.

I went through the list and decide to start with puzzle go.

The puzzle is challenging that tease my brain but it is strangely addictive. All of a sudden, I hear murmurs all around me.

” He’s here” I heard Charlotte gasped.

I look up from my screen. It was near impossible to take one’s eyes off him. His tall figure commended the attention of everyone in the room.

“Killian Knight” Charlotte said in a whisper.

Looking straight ahead, he crosses the room with a confident stride.

“He’s just as hot in real life. Rich, intelligent, dashing and single. I know we’re technically working under him, but what I’d do to get under him. If you know what I mean…..” Charlotte said dreamingly.

” A little inappropriate, don’t you think?” Derrick told her.

“Oops” she fake gasped.

I do know what she means it’s undeniable that Killian Knight is a very attractive man. While he’s been rather private about his personal life, tabloids still clamour for a piece of him. As he walks further away from me, I can’t help but longer on his back.

Why does he kind of looks familiar from the back?

I turned my attention back to the games but I can’t shake off the nagging feeling that I’ve met Killian somewhere. Raven walks back in, don’t she ever gets tired of walking to and fro?.

“Also interns, did I forget to mention that Mr Knight will be personally reviewing every single one of your reports today?”

” What?!” Charlotte whispered, can she please learn to keep quiet.

” At Knight Gaming, it’s important to be on your toes and handle any curve ball thrown your way. Good luck.” With that she left.

” Shit” Derrick cursed.

This is my chance! If I do well, I’ll be able to prove myself to the other interns……. and maybe impress Mr Knight.

Hmmm well in reality I know I’ll never impress Mr Knight.

After working on my report, giving it my all. I know the report I made won’t be enough to impress Mr Knight, so just hand in an ordinary report, but with enough information.

Raven glanced through my report.

“Hmmm, it’s okay, I guess. Because today is your first day so I understand. I’d like to see just a bit more effort from our interns”

” Of course” I replied.

After much work, it’s finally time to go home, Raven e to us again. I swear this woman is a Robot.

” Good job everyone. Have a great rest, you all deserve it. I’ll see you back here tomorrow”. She left.

Charlotte jumped from her seat.

” It’s finally the end of the day!” She turned to Derrick ” Derrick, do you have any plans? The other interns and I were thinking of having dinner together, would you like to come along?” She asked him.

” Sure, that sounds awesome” he replied.

” Cool. I’d, I mean, we’d love to have you around” she said blushing.

Can she be more obvious? I can’t believe she was drooling over Killian Knight just few hours ago. Now Derrick? Gosh.

“What about you Claire? Would you join us?” Derrick asked me.

“What?” Charlotte yelled and Derrick whipped his head to her direction “I mean, yeah, sure…… would you like to tag along too, Claire?”

I rolled my eyeballs at her.

” No thanks, I have to go down to the bar to pick up my luggage or I’ll have to wear this same outfit tomorrow” I told Derrick.

” You left your luggage in a bar?” Derrick asked shocked.

” It’s a long story. I basically met a creep who wouldn’t take no for an answer, I had no choice but to leave it there”.

He frowns.

” And you are going back there alone?”

” Yeah….”

” No, that won’t do, please let me accompany you there” he offered.

” What about the dinner” Charlotte whined, I almost forget she is here too.

“Sorry Charlotte, but I cannot let Claire go back there herself”

I really don’t wanna quarrel with Charlotte.

“Go have dinner with them. I’m sure the creep is not around anymore”

” How can you be so sure about that? One thing is certain, I’m not taking no for an answer. I’m sorry because I’m escorting you there” he said giving no room for arguments.

” I’ll throw in a couple of hooks, if I meet his ass” he added.

“But the dinner………….”

” Have fun Charlotte, I’ll see you tomorrow” he told her.

Charlotte grumbles and stomps off angrily.

“Lead the way, Claire”

“Derrick…..” I tried to argue.

“Shit, am I the creep who wouldn’t take no for an answer now?” He chuckled.

” Kinda”

” Sorry about that, but you just moved here from morfield and I hate that you had to experience something like that” he said and put his hands on my shoulder. ” Please let me help you”

He’s too cute…….. and I can’t believe he just turned down a dinner to help me.

I step closer and hugged him.

“Thanks a lot Derrick, but I think I’m good myself”.

” You’re sure, Claire?”

” Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow”

Derrick and I exchange numbers and I left for the bar.

Katika rushed into my room not long after I work up. She had this very happy look on her face.

“Hey, Mei! Guess what!” She said happily and I sighed.

“I am not in the mood for guesses. What’s up?” I asked weakly.

“Our plans worked perfectly.” She said looking so happy.

“Our plans?” I further asked.

“Maeko’s people! They are all dead Mei.” She said and my eyes widened.

“They are all dead? You mean every one of them including Akira.” I said and she nodded.

I couldn’t measure the joy I felt at that very moment. The girl I so much hated right from the beginning is now dead.

What could go wrong?

“Oh My… I never thought it would be this easy” I said and she giggled.

“Of course it would be. I am the mastermind behind everything, of course, it would go perfect.” She said in excitement and I smiled.

“I could finally get rid of getting once and for all.” I thought with a smile still on my face.

“Have you forgotten something?” She further asked.

“No.why do you say so?” I asked furrowing my brows.

“I can’t believe you forgot your birthday!” She exclaimed and my eyes widened.

“Wait! What? my birthday is in three days, not today.” I said shrugging my shoulders.

“I know, but you and I know that we always plan the party a week before the day.” She said and I smiled.

“That was when we had nothing important to do,” I responded.

“Now we have conquered our enemies. It’s time to celebrate and we would do that on your birthday.” She said and I laughed.

“Really? So you want to throw me a birthday party? You must be in a good mood.” I told and she laughed.

“You can’t say so. So, let’s get the plans started.” She said and I nodded.

“Okay. Everything on you.” I said and she nodded happily.

“Great! See you soon. Can’t wait to celebrate.” She said walking out of my room. Immediately she was out, my smile faded.

“Why is the so happy to throw me a party? I can remember vividly I would always beg her to throw me one before she does.” I thought.

“She must have something else she is planning,” I mumbled.

MEI

I was done taking my bath when the door opened and Katika came in with a smile on her face.

“Hey, babe.” She said approaching me and I smiled widely.

“Hey. Won’t you take your bath?” I asked and she giggled.

“Not yet.” She said releasing my hand from my towel and making it fall to the ground, leaving me stark naked in front of her.

“Katika, I am tired. We were up all night.” I muttered and she had an evil grin on her face.

“Really?” She asked running her fingers on my n**plus slightly and I felt them harden immediately.

I moaned inside of me and I saw her stare at my body.

“You have a beautiful body, Mei.” She whispered moving her head closer to mine. And when I thought she would kiss my lips, I shut my eyes.

But then, she reached for my neck and nibbled on it with her lips.

I moaned slightly making my lips fall apart a little.

“Maya’s birthday is in three days.” She said against my lips and I opened my eyes.

“Really? That’s great.” I said and she moved back, picking up my towel and giving it to me.

“Yes! I would be planning a party and I would want you to plan it with me.” She stated pecking my lips.

“I want you to plan everything you would love to see at a party.” She added and I scoffed.

“Aren’t we supposed to ask Maya that? She is the birthday celebrant.” I said and she smiled.

“She would probably love your taste. She doesn’t have a specific one. You know, just tell me what you want to see at a party.” She said and I smiled loving the way she made it about me.

“Okay. But I wish to go for a walk today. Can you please let me?” I asked her and she looked at me smiling.

“We can go together.” She said and I shook my head.

“No! I need to be alone. I need to think about what happened to my friends yesterday.” I said sadly and she walked up to me holding my hands.

“I am yet to apologize for the death of your friends. I am sorry,but they had to go.” She said and I smiled faintly.

“I understand,” I said walking to the closet to get myself an outfit.

“Are you angry with me?” She asked and I gave no response.

“I am sorry Mei. Please don’t be angry with me.” She apologized approaching me from behind.

She wrapped her hands around my waist and I sighed.

She can’t just expect me to be fine after killing all my loved ones.

“Do you still love me?” She asked in a shaky voice and I turned to look at her. I saw tears gathered in her eyes.

“I love you Katika, it’s just that I am a little hurting because you kept the plan from me. That means you don’t trust me.” I said and she shook her head.

“I trust you, Mei. I wanted it to be a surprise, I am sorry.” She mumbled in tears and I hugged her tightly.

“It’s okay. I would go for the work now.” I said and she nodded cleaning her eyes. I looked for a casual outfit, put it on, and walked out of the room after kissing Katika goodbye.

“I understand,” I said walking to the closet to get myself an outfit.

“Are you angry with me?” She asked and I gave no response.

“I am sorry Mei. Please don’t be angry with me.” She apologized approaching me from behind.

She wrapped her hands around my waist and I sighed.

She can’t just expect me to be fine after killing all my loved ones.

“Do you still love me?” She asked in a shaky voice and I turned to look at her. I saw tears gathered in her eyes.

“I love you Katika, it’s just that I am a little hurting because you kept the plan from me. That means you don’t trust me.” I said and she shook her head.

“I trust you, Mei. I wanted it to be a surprise, I am sorry.” She mumbled in tears and I hugged her tightly.

“It’s okay. I would go for the work now.” I said and she nodded cleaning her eyes. I looked for a casual outfit, put it on, and walked out of the room after kissing Katika goodbye.

I rushed to the building where Father and mother were, and I saw the people running helter-skelter.

I saw Niran starting at the building also.

“Niran! Is father out?” I asked him and he shook his head.

“I don’t know Arjun. I took Hana and the rest as soon as I could.” He said and my eyes widened.

“Father! Mother!” We both called but we got no response.

“We need to quench this fire! They may be in there.” I said in a shaky voice trying so hard not to cry.

“There is nothing we can use to quench the fire. No water around.” Niran said fearfully.

“What do we do! Father and mother are still in there.” I said feeling so confused.

“I would go in,” Niran said and I shook my head.

“No! I won’t let you kill yourself.” I said holding him back.

“They would die if we don’t help.” He said.

“And you will die if you go in there. Death becomes three.” I stated and then we heard the sticks used to cover the house crack and fall to the ground loudly as the fire kept burning widely.

“No!” I yelled in tears knowing I had lost my parents already. Instead of feeling cool in the rain, I felt very hot.

Suddenly, I saw a figure walking out of the fire. It staggered out and we realized it was Dad.

“Father!” We both called and we rushed to where he was.

Suddenly he fell to the wet ground and when we got to him, we saw he has burnt already.

His clothes were damaged, and his skin very black.

“Father hold on. We would help you.” I said touching him and he screamed.

“I couldn’t help your mother. She is dead.” He said and more tears rolled down my eyes.

“Father don’t talk too much. You need your strength.” Niran said in a shaky voice.

“Kill me! This pain is too much. I won’t survive so kill me.” He said gasping for breath and we shook our heads.

“No! We are not killing you! We will save you!” I said and he grabbed my hand in pain.

“I need you to kill me! If you don’t, you are making me suffer! I know I haven’t been a good father, but please don’t repay me by not killing me. I would gladly join your mother where she is, so kill me!” He yelled and I busted into tears like a baby.

Niran stood up and I looked at him as he pulled out his arrow and bow in tears.

“Niran don’t!” I said crying heavily and he raised the bow pointing it at father.

“I am sorry Father.” He said and shut his eyes. He released the arrow and it hit father right in the chest.

“No!” I yelled as he released his grip on my hand and shut his eyes dead.

“Why did you do it!” I mumbled in tears.

“I can’t take it seeing him suffer. That was the only help, he wasn’t going to survive it Arjun.” He said.

Though I understood him, it was just too much to take in.

I got up, with my feet wobbling under the heavy downpour.

“I need to find Akira,” I said cleaning my eyes.

“I would come with you!” He said and I shook my head.

“You should help the others.” I declared and he insisted.

“No Arjun. I put them in a safe place already. But we have no idea where Akira is, so I am coming with you.” He told and I nodded.

“Let’s go,” I said grabbing a burning stick using it as a source of light.

AKIRA

“Somebody help!!” I yelled looking up but everywhere was dark. Just the lightning gave me light once in a while.

The pit I was kept getting full as the downpour increased drastically.

The water got to my knees and I couldn’t stop crying.

“Is this how I am going to die?” I asked myself looking up. Another lighten came and I saw nor heard no one. Just the beating of the rain on the trees and grasses.

“Oh God help me. I can’t die with this baby inside of me.” She prayed silently.

“Help me please!!” She yelled again as she grew weak every passing minute.

The water was drawing her weight and soon she felt it right on her belly button.

She tried looking for any holes where she could hold and climb up, but it was all too slippery.

She stopped trying and then lost all hope.

“I love you Arjun.” She mumbled in tears.

Soon she began to hear distinct voices, this time the water was around her neck already. It was like the rain was in support of the evil they planned.

“Akira!” She heard Arjun call as they drew closer to where she was.

“Arjun!” I called but I don’t think he heard me, because he kept calling out to me.

I began to drown because I don’t know how to swim.

“Arjun! I called in fear raising my hand and trying to swim but I couldn’t. I was too weak for that.

“Akira!” He yelled again, but when I wanted to answer the water covered my head, and I couldn’t say a word anymore.

KATIKA

I paced in my chamber waiting for the call from the men I paid to do the job.

“Are you sure you are okay?” Mei asked me looking at me suspiciously.

“I am fine,” I responded but she stood up and walked up to me.

“I have been with you for more than two weeks now, and I know when you are fine, and you are not.” She said holding my hands and I hugged her.

“I would tell you everything,” I said and she nodded. I was about to proceed when a call came into my phone.

I picked it in haste and it happened to be the leader of the team.

“The job is perfected.” He said and I breathed out in relief.

“They are all dead?” I further asked.

“They should be.” He replied.

“I need a sure and perfect answer. Go back and find out!” I yelled cutting off the call.

“Who are they killing? What’s going on?” Mei asked and I wrapped my hands around her waist.

“We just got rid of all our enemies,” I said happily and she furrowed her brows.

“What enemies!” Mei asked.

“Maeko’s people of course,” I said and she went lost in thoughts.

“Aren’t you happy? You should be happy for me ” I said and she smiled faintly.

“You didn’t tell me about this. Why?” She asked.

“Because I wanted to surprise and impress you,” I responded hugging her with a large grin on my face.

Seon paced to and fro in his room. He has gotten himself into a big mess.

All his plans are crumbling…

He had planned on getting back Ciara and suprise Louisa in order to make her so much happy so in time, he’ll make his true intentions known to her by making her his lawful wife. And they’ll all go back to Italy to live happily.

That was his actual plan!

But there came a girl called Andrea..

All his plans are failing bit by bit.

Andrea is pregnant for him🙆🏻♂️..

Considering their family status, the solution at hand is to make her his wife…

But he can’t do that! He will never try such with a woman who forced her way back into his life.

He’ll just have to let Andrea out to birth then he’ll take Fu responsibilities of the baby and also push through with Louisa.

But will Louisa agree to this term? She is really hurt now and he doesn’t know what to tell her.

Louisa can sometimes be unpredictable..

Will she accept this idea???

He can’t risk losing Louisa. He has no choice than to tell her his plans.

God helping him, she’ll come to see things on his own perspective.

Louisa laid sober on her bed that night. Her face hardly seen due to the tuft that fell over it. Her eyes are sore from crying too much.

Lost in her own thoughts, the only thing her head clips on is Seon.

Seon has shattered her heart to pieces. She never predicted he’d do such a thing to her.

Even at the present situation on ground, her love for still grows stronger. Seon is her first love. And one thing about first love is that they are really hard to get over.

No matter what seon did to her, she can’t still stop her heart from loving him. It really isn’t the end if the world though, Getting Andrea pregnant doesn’t really mean her relationship with seon must end. At Least she’s also carrying his child it’ll give seon more reasons to hold on to her.

She’ll have to tell him about the pregnancy. He is the father and he has to know. Andrea’ doesn’t get to know she’s pregnant too for seon in order to avoid her devious plans.

The child inside of her is a blessing, not a burden…..

Bayley felt so restless. She hasn’t been herself since she paid Andrea a visit. Its going to two weeks and she hasn’t set eyes on her. She feels restless and certain that she had let out something vital to Andrea about her Friend Louisa.

She’s having the feeling that she did something terrible that night but she can’t remember anything. She hopes her instinct is wrong. She had severally tried Andrea’s digits to ask about the other night but her line isn’t connecting.

She’s such a fool to have let stupid whiskers get the best out of her. She regrets her Addiction to drinks and pray her thoughts are just so wrong about that night. Only if she knew, she wouldn’t have visited that evening.

Next Morning

Andrea got up from her bed that morning placing a perk on Damon who laid beside her.

“Good morning honey” she greeted.

“Morning sunshine. Hope you slept well”

“Yeah sure I did. Besides I’m so excited, I’ve got a big day ahead” she retorted with a stretchy yawn.

“Where to?”

“To seon’s of course” she blurted out

“You know you kinda make me jealous whenever you make sure abrupt decisions to visit him.. anyway, I’ll adapt to it.

But the seon you are talking about won’t be at home at the moment. It’s workday remember?”

” Then I’ll head to his office. Our discussion’s gonna be officially off the record” She stated Matter of factly.

“If you say so my love. Just be careful”

“Always Baby… I’ll be more than careful infact” she smiled placing a hand on her stomach as she left for the bathroom.

Minutes Later

Andrea walked into Lintel Company beaming with smiles. Her radiating smiles had so much meaning attached to it.

First, she’s gonna tell seon about her plans to go back to Italy with him.

He has no choice other than to comply. Her father is a prestigious man and he must marry her for impregnating his daughter. ‘his reputation might be at stake’ and that also works to the favour of Andrea’..

She cornered her way through to seon’s office and walked in without even knocking. Suprisingly, no one was inside.

” That sneaky brat is supposed to be here” she cooed

“…or Maybe he’s around doing what he’d best at” she smirked, her mind drifting to Louisa.

She assumed he’s with Louisa at the moment, so with that, she readied her steps to Louisa’s office.

Yet again, she didn’t know as expected before gaining entrance and to her surprise Louisa wasn’t there either.

She pried at every corner still standing at the door post. Seeing her there wouldn’t be good to people’s perspective. She might get into trouble for barging into someone’s office without an invite. So she quickly shut the door behind her. ..

“Hmmm…. Spacious and luxurious..” she commented, her eyes darting everywhere.

She walked over to Louisa’s desk, her eyes running through the files littered on her table.

” Huh? Office life is a different ” she scoffed out in disgust.

She then say in Louisa’s seat, twirling herself about on the chair

“How relaxing…” She breath out placing her full balance on it.

She continued to twirl round for some minutes until her foot suddenly hit the desk so hard.

She whined in pain cussing and hitting the table in return.

D@mmit! It hurts…

She bent herself over massaging her hurt foot when her eyes suddenly caught a paper underneath the table. Looks like someone was gonna get rid of it cause it was squeezed into a small ball.

She picked it up and gently unfolded it till it became plain…

She went ahead to read the contents… Over and over again in disbelief….

What??? This is not possible!

She jerked from the seat

“This must be a joke” she panicked out as her hands became shaky.

“…it can’t be,.. it’s not possible… She can’t be…

The door suddenly opened as Louisa walked her way in. Startling the ~worried Andrea~. A frown stretched out on her face ..

” I think you’ve got a problem with privacy” Louisa blurted out walking over

To the phone booth to make a call.

“Don’t even think of calling the security Louisa” it came out like a warning instead.

“Watch me” Louisa stated in Anger and she punched in the number into the phone…

How dare this idiot break into her office and still warn her not to call the security..

“Security co…

“You are pregnant?” Andrea cut in causing Louisa to freeze at a spot with the phone dropping from her hand.

Lizbeth was setting up the dining table.

He looked towards the dining and saw the varieties of food that was set up with wine, he has many questions on his mind but he decided not to say anything.

Madam Gold looked at her son for a long time, Cole looked up at her and said.

“Mom… what’s the problem? You make me uncomfortable with those look of yours. I have been through a lot already, I don’t need judgemental look or words…”

“Coleman, this whole saga nearly take you to the grave, you should be thanking me for still being alive. I have been waiting for the right moment to say exactly what I wanted to say to you. Since is over three months… getting to the fourth month, I guess is the right time. Do you know how much all the different physiotherapist that have been attending to you charged? different doctor’s appointment, exercise and many other drugs and injections. money is seriously going down just to fully resuscitate you back to your feet. It has not been easy Coleman especially with the spending. I’m glad you’re getting better but You practically made me broke and I had no choice but to sell one of your father’s asset. He left two buildings, each is three storey building in the estate. That’s the only thing he left for me that I have been living on. The huge amount you received as his only son, you used it to build this house and squander the rest…. can’t tell what you did with the remaining money….

Cole became impatient with whatever his mother was trying to narrate.

“Go straight to the point Mom, stop beating around. You’re getting me uneasy. What exactly are you driving at…

Madam stood angrily.

“You see… this is the same attitude of yours that got you down into a wheelchair. Impatient, pride and stubbornness… this are the same attitude your father had when he was still alive. What I’m trying to say is that I sold the building. Now, I’m only left with just one. I used the money to settle both your hospital accommulated bills, and I paid for that of Marina’s…

Cole interrupted.

“I never asked you to pay for Marina whatever, she is the reason I’m in this mess. She has my money and can treat herself. I wonder why she is not dead anyway…

Madam Gold angrily slapped him on his cheek.

Cole made a fist and tries to move from his wheelchair but he couldn’t.

“…. what is the meaning of this Mom? Why the hell will you raise a hand and slap me… Hope you aren’t mistaking me for a 15years old teenager you can dictate and slap anyhow. Because I’m limited to a wheelchair doesn’t make me less of a man… don’t you dare treat me like an earthworm…

Florence came out of the room and ran straight to the parlour as Cole and madam Gold’s voices were rising.

Lizbeth stood at a distance watching in silent.

“What is going on? What are all the noise for…?

Florence asked moving closer.

“This stupid ungrateful husband of yours, this ingrate of a son is not even a bit thankful for everything I did for him within this saddening months, I sold my best asset for his health, I’m left with just one that I can’t count so much on. I used almost all the money for his health, and to pay up Marina’s own. Instead of him to be thankful, he’s here raising voice at me. Coleman, you forgot in a hurry why they call me madam Gold… let me remind you that I’m a no nonsense woman. I prefer the action that comes with my name, is equivalent to being addressed as Mrs Spence. I love being Mrs Spence because it comes with war and victory for me, madam Gold add action spice to my personality. Aging won’t make me turn into a vegetable. Whenever you open your mouth to talk back at me think again. I will not mind the fact that you are my son, I will take you up the stairs, push you down from there and watch you fall like a rolling coaster breaking your remaining bones in the process. Nonsense element like you. Listen to me, Florence is the only one that can tolerate your rubbish. I never tolerated your father’s own, I will never tolerate yours. Get that straight into your head.

“Madam Gold, please calm down. that’s enough…is probably his present predicament that is getting him agitated. Cole appreciate your efforts, he might not say it but he sure do..

Florence said, trying to calm her down.

“I don’t even care if he appreciates or not. He should be lucky that he has a mother like me. Aside his traumatizing health issue, Marina suffered alot of broken bones and damaged body tissues that needed replacement. She had many stitches both from her head down to her leg. Her brain was almost at the verge of sticking up. According to the doctor, Marina wouldn’t have made it alive if not for my prompt response. Now, she is in the ICU recuperating. She is on a high percentage of suffering mental break down in future. I was there when they shave off her head and began each surgical procedure. Deep down I don’t want her to die because Coleman will be charged for homicide. He may think he has a strong defence edge against her but nothing justifies murder. If you don’t have a good lawyer, your sorry ass will be resting in prison even with your condition…the law doesn’t care at all. Each of those surgeries for Marina cost money, each one for Coleman equally cost money. All the money is all gone and his treatment is done yet. Even if Marina has his money she will be needing allot of it for corrective surgery because I have already tried my best for her. The pay back I get from him is ungrateful speech. Coleman you’re unapologetically senseless. Take a long look at me, I’m not your wife who cares enough to return back to take care of you. I’m not soft, you should know me better than anybody else. Your father tried some shit with me and I gave him the seat he deserves. Don’t you ever mess with me… don’t you ever Coleman…”

Florence walked up to Cole and asked him to apologise to his angry mother.

“I’m sorry Mom. I didn’t mean to sound ungrateful…I do appreciate everything. I’m sorry…

Madam Gold picked up her bag and car keys.

“Yeah, you should be really sorry. I’m cleaning the heavy mess you made. You live with Marina for almost two years you never care to pay attention if she was truly pregnant or not. She deceived you ones and was starting another phase of the deception yet you did not know. If not for your house help that cares enough to draw your attention to it, you wouldn’t have Known until she disappears. Your foolish mind was clouded with the crazy sex which blocked your brain from knowing any other thing. She was almost perfecting her plans Coleman before you found out. I used to think is Florence that has the issue but I think I know better. Despite all the money i put into you and Marina, no single grandchild, I only got paid back with more heavy mess to clean up. Anyway, try all you can and get back on your feet so that you can pay me some of the money I poured into your health… even if is quarter of it o don’t mind. I’m not so generous when it comes to somebody that has no sense. I wonder if they exchanged you in the hospital or you are the same son I gave birth to. Look at your sister, she is just like me. A no nonsense lady but you, I don’t know where to place you. You live in the same house with a woman for almost two years and you never knew she was faking a whole pregnancy, wearing fake pregnancy bump, giving you fake hospital test results. You continued pouring your money on her while she went ahead to wash your stupid head with lies. I’m so angry right now. If I don’t get out I will end up hating you…

Madam Gold stormed out. Florence called her to come back for dinner atleast but she ignored.

She left and the house became so quiet.

Florence tries to say something but Cole quickly shun her.

“Florence, if you want to walk out like my Mom just did, then be my guest. Go… everyone should just leave me alone. Enough of the bashing. I know I messed up big time but haven’t I be punished enough. What else do you all want. Maybe I should have died instead of all this unnecessary added trouble… I’m tired. Just tired of this whole life…

Florence came to him, she gently massaged his shoulder making him relax back on his wheelchair.

“I wasn’t going to bash you like you thought Cole, I wanted to ask if you are ready for dinner. Lizbeth has set up the table…

Cole inhaled deeply, he squeezed Florence hand gently.

“I saw when she was setting it up, what is there to celebrate… because I saw a bottle of wine and cups. Different delicious looking food… The money where did it came from?

Florence smile and said it was just a little money she gave Lizbeth to prepare dinner.

Cole kissed her hand and thanked her.

She wheeled him to the dining table, helped him up to a sit.

she asked Lizbeth to join the table.

Lizbeth obliged as Florence gave her a pleading look.

Florence said a short prayer before dishing out the food.

After meal, Florence poured wine to the cups and they toast to life. She thanked God for giving Cole another chance to life.

She later helped Cole upto the room, then to the bathroom. When he was done with the bathroom, she helped him out to the bed

She assisted him to get properly dressed for the night.

She gave him all his drugs just as prescribed and he took it.

After she was through with Cole, she freshened up before retiring to a table to read and pray.

Cole watched her pick up her bible and began to read on the dresser.

He called her.

“Sweetie… please hurry and come to bed.

Florence who only started sleeping on the same bed with him a week ago did not reply.

She later close up her Bible before checking her phone.

Maxwell has been calling and sending messages but she has been ignoring.

She tries to avoid seeing him too.

What will she tell him if she decided to answer his call.

Maybe she will think of what to do with Max but Cole needs her.

She can’t abandoned Cole at this state of his health. She is not a heartless human.

The divorce is still pending, Cole doesn’t want to continue with it.

He has pleaded with her not to proceed with the divorce case anymore otherwise he is as good as dead without her in his life.

Florence left the whole divorce thing aside as she take up the challenge of returning back to her matrimonial home for the sake of Cole’s health.

Florence said a prayer before going to join him in bed.

Cole tries to pull her up to himself.

“What are you trying to do…

She asked frowning.

“What does it look it? I’m trying to cuddle up my wife, kiss her and if possible make love to her. I have really miss you sweetie…” Cole replied as he tries to roughly squeeze Florence breast.

She slapped off his hand

Florence laughed out sarcastically.

“Wait Cole, which waist are you going to use and make love? Is it the same one the doctor warned you not to stress due to the shifting of the figment. You were warned not to think of a woman yet until your physiotherapy exercise is over. Do you want to remain on a wheelchair for the rest of your life? Sex should be the last thing on your mind right now Cole. Chanel your whole energy in getting better and bouncing back. Another thing Cole, don’t ever touch my breast like you roughly tries to do now or any part of my body that way… I’m not your former crazy sex mate…Marina. I’m Florence Richard Adam. Cole was quiet at first before replying.

“You’re Florence Spence. That makes you Mrs Spence. You are no more bearing your father’s names. You’re my wife and despite everything that happens we will remain together. Isn’t that the purpose of the wedding ring on your finger? I love you… hope you know that already? I may not have showed it like I suppose to but you remain my wife and I will never take you for granted ever again. I’m sorry for doing so in the past, it almost sent me to an early grave. I know is because of your Love for me that made you return…I appreciate it.

Florence was lying facing up. As a lot of things filled her mind

“Why…why didn’t you tell me that you had erectile dysfunctional issue, your percentage of ever getting a woman pregnant is 15percent which is nothing but a miracle. Why do you make me take those pills for years? Those pills almost caused big issue for me if not that I tackled it with everything I got. Why Cole… When the doctor said it three days ago, you didn’t look surprised. You knew all this while…so Why will you think you even pregnanted Marina when you know you are not alright medically. I have been silently thinking about it, waiting for you to raise the topic but you are not saying anything concerning that…

Cole moved uncomfortably.

“Florence, I didn’t know at first, That’s the truth, I made love to you perfectly and effortlessly in the beginning of our marriage. It sound funny but I had no issue with erection and still don’t. It was when I started going deeply into watching porn, taking some sex booster and enhancer that can make me spend several hours on a woman that my manhood started malfunctioning. I didn’t bother about the negative effect of the booster neither did I pay attention immediately, but it got worst. After that five days of the prescription I felt very fine, I saw no need of completing the boring process so I threw the medicines away. I thought I was really alright Florence. Asking you to take pills was because I wasn’t ready for responsibility…I was not ready for children. I saw children as too much responsibility…that’s the truth. But when Marina told me that she was pregnant, I was deeply troubled but I had to settle with it because she said she won’t remove it. I began seeing kids differently… The more I think about it the more I wanted to have the baby. I literally fell into her trap of deceit. I became desperate for a child and that’s how she got me and also got Mom. I’m sorry… deeply sorry. we can make use of the 15percent with your strong faith in God, he will give us a miracle. I can also try other fertility drugs to see if it will do the magic…

Florence bite her lower lip, trying hard to suppress her angry emotions

She was quiet, digesting everything Cole said.

Cole asked her if she was angry with him and she replied that she doesn’t even know how to react to the whole information.

She asked Cole to tell her every other thing that he was still keeping away.

It was time for truth.

Cole told her about putting the house on collateral and the illicit act he did in his company and he could have gone to prison because of fraud but due to his condition they decided to pardon him. He was dismissed at work, his boss fired him and gave him six months to pay up the loan he took from the office.

As he was still talking he felt sleepy.

“I think the drugs is taking serious effect on me. I’m tired…I need to sleep.

Florence watched him dozed off within a second.

She sat up thinking hard and long, wondering if she can handle all of Cole’s excessive baggages or she should just proceed with the divorce and settle with Maxwell who cares for her and handles her gently unlike Coleman.

“I am perplexed too. I mean,are they trying to bring us against each other? By making us fight for the throne? Literally it should be you ruling not me.” I said and he sighed.

“That’s not even making any sense.” I said and then looked at him.

“Niran we don’t have to fight over the throne. To be honest, I don’t even want it. I just want a normal life with Akira, and the life of a king is never normal. So we would get that throne back for you.” I said and he looked at me with a smile on his face.

“Thank you Arjun.” He said happily and I nodded. I knew he had always wanted to sit on that throne since we were very young.

He is the leader material not me. He is fit for the throne, so he would have it.

“I need to see Akira now.” I said and he nodded.

“And I need to see Vanna.” He said winking at me making me laugh.

We parted ways and I couldn’t stop smiling when I thought of Niran’s love life. I mean, who would ever think he would fall in love with a slave? Not after the hatred he has portrayed to so many slaves in the palace.

Vanna must be a very lucky girl to win his stoney heart over. I got to the building where Akira and I was when I saw a familiar figure from afar.

“What the hell. What the f**k are you doing here! You want to take this place from us too?” I yelled in rage walking close to her and I saw she was weeping.

I wanted to strangle her right there, but when I saw her weeping, it made me wonder.

“What? What games are you playing now? What the hell are you doing here!” I yelled louder than earlier and then Akira walked out of the building.

“Arjun? Are you okay?” She asked and as soon as she saw Maya said held my hand.

“What is she doing here?” She asked angrily and I looked at her before looking at Maya again.

“You need to know I didn’t know anything about this. Katika was behind it all.” She said and I scoffed.

“And you expect me to believe anything that comes out of that your filthy mouth? I asked.

“Please can Akira excuse us?” She asked and I laughed.

“That would never happen. Say whatever you want to say. We are busy.” I said and Akira tightened her grip on my hand.

“Fine, all I want to say is. Kaleb was the love of my life, though I never told him. But I never knew he was having a crush on Katika. She used him and he got killed, and she isn’t even remorseful.” She said and I shrugged my shoulders.

“And how is that my problem? That’s your family issue not mine.” I said and she sighed.

“Can you just let me finish please?” She asked and I looked at Akira before looking at her.

“My sister killed the love of my life for her own selfish interests, and I can’t let her get away with it.” She said and I heaved.

“It’s not her selfish Interest, it’s your families selfish interests. So just go away because you are not making any sense.” I said turning to walk away with Akira.

“I want to help you get the throne back.” She said in haste making me stop abruptly.

“What? Why would you even do that?” I asked turning to look at her.

“Because I want to see Katika suffer for what she did to Kaleb.” She said and I got pissed.

“Katika isn’t the only one to blame here, even the so called love of your life was so dumb and wicked to backstab his own friend because of a lady. So for the records, I feel no remorse for Kaleb.” I raped with a grin on my face.

“I know but I can’t let Katika go Scot free. I would help you get back the throne.” She said and I scoffed.

“At what profit? If you get back the throne, then you would be suffering along side with her. We aren’t stupid to believe you would suffer just to see your sister suffer.” Akira said and I nodded in agreement.

“Just go and leave us in peace. Whatever evil you and your family are planning this time won’t work.” I said walking away with Akira.

“Mei is with Katika!” She said in a loud tone and I sighed. Akira looked back and walked up to her.

“What? What is she doing there? What does she want with Mei?” She asked in anger.

“They are now lovers.” She said and I laughed.

“And you expect us to believe that?” I asked walking to them.

“I didn’t and that’s why I brought prove.” She said bringing out her phone and punching it.

Akira and I exchanged looks before she started playing a voice recording to our hearing.

“That was not your choice to make! Whether he deserves to die or not! That wasn’t your choice to make you b**ch! I lost the love of my life and all you do is hook up with a b**ch?” Maya said in rage.

“You would say no such thing about Mei. Get out!” Katika yelled and Maya boiling in anger nodded.

“The battle line has been drawn Katika.” We heard Maya say.

Now she has the royals behind her back, she is the girlfriend to the first Princess and you think she would still see you as a friend. If you think so, then it’s cool. But you need as many allies as possible if you want to get back that throne. I would get you time to think.” She said and turned her back against us as she walked away.

Akira and I stared at each other not knowing exactly what to say to each other.

“Do you think we can trust her?” Akira asked and I sighed.

“I don’t know Akira. I really don’t know.” I responded staring at Maya as she walked away.
