    He put his hand down looking behind me. “Quinn…?? ” he walks up to me while I stuck on my knees he picked up the flashlight pointing at the dead plus unconscious bodies my hand was shaking I just violated a rule and killed my somebody.
    “I killed somebody..” I whispered under my breath visibly shaking and unstable.
    He walks past me and heads over to Seth at first he seemed calm but when he pointed the gun at Seth he pulled a gun at him. “No…Manfred no… ” I yelled getting his attention.
    “Quinn stay back he needs to die…” I crwaled up to Seth with my eyes red with. “No, he didn’t do anything wrong.” I whispered. “He was defending himself even when he was in pain there’s nothing wrong there you can’t kill him.” I yelled.
    “That’s not the reason he deserves to die, do you know what this man has done if I don’t kill him now he’s going to cause more chaos..”
    “I don’t care he hasn’t done anything wrong he’s not a good person or a bad person either he did whatever he had to because those were his only option, he’s a good friend and brother to those he love and he’ll never hurt them he’s a person too and I don’t know what ever he did but I’m sure he regrets it… ” I sobbed getting up on my feet. “Please don’t kill him just let me take him to get a stitch so he won’t die I won’t be the only one sad if he dies he has a family.” I said referring to the guys, I can’t let Seth die because he wanted to save my life.
    Manfred puts the gun down. “I won’t kill him today are you okay? ” he puts the gun away, I nodded ignoring him and heading to Seth, a flashlight point directly at his eyes they looked dull. “You’re stubborn..” I heard him whisper.
    “You’re not going to leave me to tell the guys you died okay? ” he didn’t reply his eyes went shut my heart raced but ease when I saw him breathe. I left Seth for a bit and head to Manfred.
    “Are there anymore of your crew? ” I asked.
    “What are you talking about? ” he asked.
    “I’m talking about your crew what will you be doing down in the tunnels if these guys aren’t your crew ?” I asked recently when I see him somehow it involves getting into a gunfight or something that has a beef with Seth it had to be more than just a mere coincidence.
    Manfred looked down at the dead and unconscious bodies and sneers at me.
    “What’s funny? ” I asked. “Nothing… ” he said pointing the flashlight at one of the men who was struggling to get his gun since he was conscious, Manfred quickly shot him and I backed away. “Now you’re scared of me, women are confusing.” he muttered under his breath.
    “Wait, how did you know it was me when we first met I was brunette and wore a nose mask? Are you following me? “
    “You also wore a baseball cap and that necklace everywhere.” he said taking my necklace out which tucked under my shirt. “I also spotted you at the party at the Yatch but I had something to do so I noticed the sudden hair color and necklace, nice hair color by the way.” he said picking out his phone from his pocket. “If these guys aren’t your crew what are you doing here? ” I asked.
    “You should really mind your own business you don’t have to know everything it will get you killed one day…” he said. “So I should trust someone who probably is a killer your name can’t even be Manfred is it? “
    “Have you gotten to know yourself better ?” he says which spiraled me into a mood of confusion. “Excuse me? “
    “If you don’t know anything about who you are don’t go ahead knowing about someone who is the least or none of your business.” he said putting his phone down In his pockets.
    “All you need to know is I had something important to do here and luckily it wasn’t about him, I could have killed him without your plea…” he said.
    “Why didn’t you kill him then? “
    “Let’s just say blood is thicker than water..” he mummered getting me confused. “You’ll find out soon enough the longer you stay with him and we’ll see your decision then.” he indirectly said it won’t be the last time we meet.
    Blood is thicker than water ? Are Seth and Manfred siblings, I thought Manfred was probably the Cunningham’s first son.
    “Grab your boyfriend, let’s get out of here why we still can this can’t probably be the only men down here.” he whispered.
    “And I should trust you? ” I scoffed.
    “Your boyfriend is going to die if he doesn’t get help soon and I don’t mind making it quick by firing a bullet at his head, trust me or not it’s either you grab him while I help you guys or I make it quick and shoot him with a bullet.” he proposed. “I don’t have a choice do I? ” I muttered looking back at Seth.
    “I don’t trust you but I don’t want Seth to die can I borrow your phone? ” I asked.
    “What? You want to call 911 down here ?” he sneers at me. I didn’t seem faze at his reaction he took out his phone and hands it over to me while I dialed the number slowly and walked a bit closer to Seth waiting for the phone to pick up. “Hello.. ” I mummered when I heard the other sound of the phone ring.
    “Dory??? ” I heard Erwin’s voice from the other side of the phone. “Erwin…” I whispered his name very low. “Where are you guys, I thought you died.” he said. “Where’s Darren? ” I whispered too hoping Manfred didn’t hear me.
    “He’s here..” he said as I heard him give the phone to Darren. “Quinn where are you, where’s Seth? “
    “I don’t have time to explain Seth’s bleeding and I know I’m not supposed to contact you guys but Seth is bleeding and I don’t want him to die please come get us…” I didn’t bother to whisper the rest, I yelled so loud I cried, what was the worse that could happen if I contacted them. “Where are you guys? ” Darren asked. “probably in the middle of an abandoned subway.” I sniffed.
    “That’s a poor detail, there are numerous subways in New York.” I heard Erwin mummered. “It’s an abandoned one earlier Seth said there was a gang war in this one.” I mummered. “I think I know where that one is…” Erwin muttered, I shouldn’t be surprised these people were kinda Erwin’s people they’re crazy and Haven did say he met Erwin at an underground club so Erwin probably knows New York.
    “Just stay where you are and help Seth we’ll be there soon.” Darren said hanging up I quickly tossed Manfred his phone and went up to Seth, I pushed my hands against his chest the melodic sound of his heart beating put me at ease. “Stay a bit longer..” I breathe pulling up his shirt to examine his wound.
    “He’ll live… ” Manfred said taking a cold look at Seth. “Thank you for not shooting him.” I muttered without sparing him a look his footsteps got louder he pressed down next to me. “Do you love him ? ” I went stiff on the mention of the question. ” I care about him, I guess.” I answered carefully. “What’s the difference? ” he asked.
    “I don’t know how what I feel towards him would help answer your question? ” I said.
    “It won’t.” he said getting up. “Do you really care that much for him that you actually shoot a person and go against your conscience? ” he asked. “He was going to kill him…” I whispered.
    “If you know very much about him would you reconsider your decision? ” he asked while I turned to face him. “Would you still think killing that man was worth it for him? ” he said
    “I’m not the only one who killed someone here, you killed someone too Manfred..” I yelled, he looked at me with his eyes emotionless. “I know this was what she was trying to protect you from.” my brows furrowed, first Shane said ‘She was right you are stubborn.’ and now Manfred was saying she was trying to protect me.
    “Who’s she? ” I asked as a flashlight shone across the tunnel. “This won’t be the last time we meet and next time I will kill him.” he said picking up his gun and took to his heels.
    “Quinn? ” I heard Erwin’s voice from across the tunnel. “I’m here..” I echoed as he ran up to me. “Where’s Seth? ” Darren asked showing up from behind.
    “He’s here…” I pointed over to Seth as they ran up to him and lifted him up, he was unconscious obviously. “Let’s go…” the guys said as I followed thinking about what Manfred said, who is she ?

    I was packing my stuff already my sister was already at the door with tears in her eyes she ran up to me holding on to my jean I was about to put in my bag. “Mandy I’m begging you don’t go you promised dad you wouldn’t get into shits again, you promise mom you promised me.” she sobbed.
    “Last time I was a kid and I was having fun this time I’m serious I promise I won’t get involved in shits again.”
    “If you get in, how can you assure you would be able to get out? you almost died last time that was the reason you broke up with him, it’s the same reason you decided to be a matron this is a stupid decision.” she yelled.
    “Quinn is missing and it’s all my fault, instead of finding her I’m working with idiots who don’t give a damn about her, I’m working with hypocrites while my best friend is out there facing hell knows what, it was my duty to protect her Keila, it was my duty to shield her from everything I was the reason because I wanted to be happy and I couldn’t protect her.” I whispered.
    “You didn’t know they were going to kidnap her, you didn’t know Shane’s parents were going to be after her, you didn’t know anything you were 16..” Keila said trying to push the blame off me.
    “I’m going anyways, I’m going to find her and protect her I’m sorry even though I get killed.” my sister sobbed loudly. “This could be a trap what if Shane is using you to find Quinn? ” she asked.
    “Then I’ll kill the bastard he can’t hurt me twice and get away with it.” I whispered brushing her hair. “What about Calvin, he’s still your friend too and he’s not doing anything crazy, just stay please…” she whispered.
    “If I know I can do something and I don’t do it I’ll be a terrible person, I’ll always try to contact you and I promise not to get into trouble.” I muttered moving away from her to fully pack up. “I can’t stop you can I? ” she laughed sadly.
    “No, promise me one thing? ” she muttered. “Under no circumstances will you be killed, promise me you won’t die..”
    “Keila…” I mumble. “If my big sister wants to get entangled with that horrible family at least promise me this time you’ll have a way out again, you’ll live and you’ll get married.” I pulled her into a hug and whisper “I promise..” she sobbed loudly hugging me.
    The bell rings. “Keila what ever you do don’t tell Calvin or anyone about this and if something goes wrong you know what to do.” I picked up my bag letting go of her grasp as she nodded.

    We were all together in Detroit again after two weeks from the Manfred scenario, I remember Darren calling a private doctor to remove the bullet Seth got and stitch it again.
    I was in my room most of the time only Darren and Haven brought my food which I barely touched, I was nervous when we got back and haven’t seen Seth since then and thought about everything Mandy said, who is she?
    Could it be my mom? It can’t be what would my mom know about gangsters that she tried to protect me from, my dad was just a simple mechanic and she told me all the stories on how they met in church when they were kids and dad would laugh about how mom used to carry a cross everywhere that’s why he liked her.
    I thought about my mom and dad relationship, I don’t get why they divorced they had so many beautiful memories together and they were in love with each other and I never thought about it till now.
    Why am I thinking about my parents divorce when I’m supposed to be thinking how everything is connected, what do I not know that everyone keeps hiding it away from me.
    I heard a knock come from the door. “It’s open.” I muttered ouloud knowing it has to be Haven or Darren dropping my food.
    The door unlocked as I turned to see Erwin at my door with a tray our eyes locked and this is the second time he’s been to my room.
    “put it over there..” I pointed at the empty desk drawer. “This isn’t for you, why would I give you food if you barely eat, I already ate yours.” he said while I glared at him.
    “Then why are you here with a tray? ” I asked upset that he ate my food. “This is for Seth he said he wants you to hand him his food..” he said while I blushed. “Really..” I stuttered.
    “Why are you red? ” Erwin arched a brow I quickly ran up to him and took the tray. “Shut up and get out I’ll give it to him.” I shut the door behind me cussing under my breath.
    “Don’t eat anything the food doesn’t belong to you..” Erwin yelled. “Get out…” I yelled.
    When I was sure he wasn’t out anymore I opened the door and walked out to the corridors thinking of how to give him his food, he could be asleep or awake but Erwin said he wanted me to hand his food.
    I got to his door and knocked I didn’t get a reply but Iet myself in anyways, I saw Seth on his bed his eyes darted to mine he slowly got up confused seeing me. “I brought your food.” I said nervously.
    “What ?” he asked, he looked a bit pale but better than two weeks ago. “Erwin said you wanted me to bring your food.” I said still holding up the tray. “Haven already brought and took mine already.” he muttered and I went red.
    I’ve been tricked by Erwin, I’m so going to get teased by Erwin because of this.
    “Well I guess this is my food then I’ll leave you..”
    “Stay…” I stopped on my step. “Well I guess I can eat here..” I said turning around and sitting down on his bed and started eating as he watched me, I looked around thinking how awkward everything is.
    I’m going to kill Erwin after this, my eyes darted back at Seth who wore a buttoned up shirt. “Is your wound okay? ” I broke the silence between us he nodded not looking at me. I just kept staring through the shirt hoping I’ll suddenly get X ray vision and see through his shirt, I looked back at Seth and burn bright red in embarrassment for getting caught, I put my spoon down on the plate looking on nothing but the tray.
    “It feels hot..” I hear Seth say, his hand traced both my palm and on his shirt, guiding my hands to unbutton his shirt, he let’s go till I yanked the last button off.
    ‘I shouldn’t be this close’ I thought to myself about to quit it before things get any out of my control, I quickly got up but felt a tight grip on my wrist pulling me back. “I’m not going to touch you if you don’t want me to..” that didn’t put me at ease at all I didn’t still trust myself but I sat down anyways awkwardly next to him. “Do you still feel pain at the stitch area ?” I asked trying to kill the awkard moment.
    “It’s a little be tight than the one you actually stitched.” he muttered back. He noticed me staring at the stitch a for some minutes.
    “Do you want to massage it? ” the question took me off guard, I looked back at him as he slides one arm of the Shir down revealing the stitch it was better than the one i did but looked tight, I didn’t hesitate heading towards him and started the massage, my head pressed against his torso as he put his hands behind him and resting his head on my shoulder, he let out a groan but started to breathe easily. I slowly pulled away from him with my hand still over his wound and our eyes met, he slowly took me by my face cupping both my cheeks. He looked like he wanted to say something but froze when he looked into my eyes once again he let’s go of me and groans in pain. “Are you okay? ” I asked but before he could reply Haven got in with Erwin.
    “Seth we need to leave….” he sounded urgent.
    “What? ” Seth asked.
    “We have two minutes we need to leave Detroit they found us…” Seth quickly gets up and nods. “Gather everything important and get to the…”
    “We don’t have time we have to run..” Erwin quickly grabbed me yanking me out of the house with him.
    “What’s happening? ” I yelled as Seth, Darren and Haven got and and in a matter of seconds the house exploded, I watched in horror as everything was set ablaze.
    “Who did this…” I whispered in horror as Darren shows me a phone it belonged to Erwin. There was a text and it read.
    “In a few minutes everything and everyone will be destroyed get out while you can..” I read I looked back at the house remembering what Seth warned about us not contacting the guys, I know it was Manfred that texted I forgot to delete Erwin’s number when I called them to get us and somehow I’m glad I didn’t we could have died, but why did he help us.

    I walked into a room looking back at the text I sent, I tossed the phone to the ground meaning I had no way to contact or inform them she was on her own, I punch the wall as Erica walked up to me with that snobbish laugh of hers.
    “Why are you passing your aggression to the wall? you should have killed him when you had the chance she now has to pay with her life.” she mocked.
    “What makes you think she’s dead? ” I cocked at her. “Weakness runs in both your blood and like they say blood is thicker than water, she is your sister after all.” she said and walked away.

    FAITH’S POV
    I sat at the middle of Barbie and Tina, I kept stealing glances of the new boy Matthew.
    He looks so cute, but it is so annoying to know he actually cares of that lame girl.
    Who can choose me over that kind of girl. I guess I was too harsh when I approached him.
    “That new guy is so dope Faith.” Barbie said biting her lower lip like she was trying to seduce me.
    “Yeah I know.” I replied behaving like I don’t care.
    “I don’t mind making friends with him you know.” Tina said winking at me.
    “You won’t dare!” I smacked making them flinch.
    “Faith don’t tell me you also have an eye on him.” Barbie said.
    “Maybe.” I replied smiling.
    “But you acted so mean to he and Theodora, and I can guess he doesn’t like you.” Tina said.
    “Tina shut up! I will surely gain his attention. Give me time, and none of you should try meeting him behind my back.” I said stealing a glance of him.
    I saw that lame girl looking at him and whispering some things to him. B**ch.
    “They seem to get along well.” Barbie said smiling.
    “Keep quite both of you. You will see how he will dump that girl for me when i start with him.” I smirked wickedly.
    “Go get him baby girl!” Barbie and Tina chorused smiling.
    “Faith are you even listening?” Mr Sam said from the front of the class drawing everyone’s attention to us.
    “Yes sir.” I said proudly.
    “Now tell me the last statements I made.” He said folding his arms.
    “The last statement you made is Now tell me that last statement I made.” I said mockingly making all the students burst into laughter.
    “Shut up all of you!!” He yelled and everywhere became as silent as a graveyard.
    “Faith and her friends, see me in my office after this class.” He said facing the board.
    “Not again!” I mumbled rolling my eyes. I looked back to see Matthew and that lame girl looking at us.
    “Now who can explain the meaning of Chemical Reactions?” He asked pacing in front of the class.
    Everyone kept silent and no one raised their hands. I didn’t have an idea about what he asked and I know Barbie and Tina won’t know it either.
    “No one?” He asked again.
    “Hi sir!” A voice from behind us said. I looked back and I saw Theodora raising her hand. Annoying b**ch.
           😋 MATTHEW’S POV 😋
    “Chemical Reactions are reactions that take place between two chemical substances. They consist of the reactants that give the products of the same content in the reactant.” Theodora rapped.
    I didn’t understand anything from what she said, it was like she was performing magic.
    “Wow that was excellent!” The teacher said happily. The whole class gave her a round of applause, except Faith and her gang.
    I clapped for her tho I didn’t understand anything she nor the teacher was saying. It shouldn’t surprise you, I am not a smart type. I am a dullard.
    Theodora looked at me happily but when she saw the sadness on my face her countenance changed.
    “Are you okay Matthew?” She asked looking at me.
    “I am okay.” I replied trying to smile.
    The lecture kept going but it was as if he was performing magic. Theodora kept noting and nothing.
    Only God knows what he has been writing.
    The lecture was over soon and the school alarm rang telling us to go home. I packed my bag and stood up to leave.
    Theodora also packed her bag and was set to leave.
    “It was nice knowing you Matthew.” She said smiling.
    “Yes.” I replied smiling.
    “Matthew you are free to share anything with me.” She said pushing her wheelchair by the wheels.
    I watched her and I felt pity seeing her like that. She is a very intelligent girl, life is so unfair.
    “Let me help you.” I said walking to her back.
    “No its fine. I can do it.” She replied smiling.
    “I insist Theodora.” I said holding her chair by the handle.
    “Thanks.” She said shyly.
    I pushed her chair outside the class, this time all the students were out already. I got outside the class to meet Faith and her friends at the door.
    I ignored them and kept pushing the chair.
    “Hey Matthew.” Faith said standing in front of Theodora.
    “What do you want this time around?” I asked angrily.
    “Matthew you don’t need to be angry, I just want to talk to you.” She said looking at Theodora with a disgusting look.
    “Say whatever you want to say now.” I said folding my arms on my chest.
    “C’mon Matthew, she can’t be here?” She said pointing at Theodora.
    “I will leave you two.” Theodora said pushing her wheelchair.
    “No Dora, you are staying here. You aren’t going anywhere.” I said firmly. I looked at Faith who kept staring at us.
    “I guess you aren’t ready to say anything. Dora let’s go.” I said pushing her as we left where they were.
    Theodora turned her head to look at me as we moved and I saw a smile on her face.
    “What is it Theodora?” I asked looking away.
    “You called me Dora. No one has ever called me that before.” She said happily.
    “Really?” I asked in surprise.
    “Yes, no one has ever called me that because they don’t want to be friends with me.” She said sadly.
    “Wow, I am sorry about that.” I replied with pity.
    “You don’t need to, at least for the very first time someone defended me.” She said smiling.
    Soon we got to the school compound and Dora waved her hands to a woman under a tree by the gate side.
    She was looking very beautiful but she had old looking clothes on.
    “That is my mother. She is here to take me home.” She said pointing at the woman.
    I pushed her to where her mother stood and I saw her mother looking very happy.
    They hugged each other before she looked at me.
    “Good day ma’am.” I said smiling.
    “Good day son, thank you for bringing her here. ” She said smiling sweetly.
    “It is nothing ma’am, I will be on my way now. Bye Dora.” I said walking away.

    Theme: My Only Sister

    IT was weekend and as usual, Annette returned home to spend the weekend with her family

    Thank God soon, all these tussles and bustles for school gonna be over soon
    She just had few months to finish up

    Annette was extremely happy and she couldn’t pin point the reason, well maybe because she’s already been offered a job to commence immediately after graduation
    She’s been offered that by  the mother of a friend of hers, who runs a journal firm

    She hadn’t told her husband about it yet, so she got up from the couch she was sitting on, and walked to the sitting room where he sat

    “Hello dear”, she smiled and sat beside him

    Fred was on his phone and he looked up from it
    “Hi”, he replied, guilt filled him

    Annette twisted her lips, grinning from ear to ear

    He looked at her
    “You look happy? What’s the celebration.”, he asked

    She laughed
    “Well, the celebration is, I’ll be graduating soon you know?”, he nodded, “moreso I’ve been offered a job in a journal firm to commence once I’m done from school”

    Fred’s eyes widened
    “You don’t mean it?”

    She laughed
    “Oh of course I did. It’s a news isn’t it?”

    He nodded
    “A good one at that”

    She laughed
    “Thank you. So, we should have a cheers to that right?”, she placed her head on his shoulder

    He cringed and nodded
    “Yes”, he replied

    “Let me go get a scotch”, she got up and walked into the room

    Fred watched her as she left and felt guilty, a girl who had gone through a lot because of him, now he’s having eyes for her sister?
    Yes it was wrong, but he couldn’t help it
    After having fun with her husband, Annette walked into their room and decided to change the sheets of their bed
    It was dirty and therefore, needed change

    She tucked out the sheets and then flopped it off
    And then boom! Something caught her attention

    It was a piece of clothing and it had fallen off from the sheets as soon as she flopped it away

    She walked up to the piece on the floor and stared at it

    What!
    It was a lingerie, and……oh no! It was Sochima’s lingerie
    She knew it so well, infact she had been the one who got it for her during her birthday the previous year

    But hold on, what was it doing here in her matrimonial bed and room? What?

    She stood to think straight. Was Fred cheating on her with her own sister?
    No, she shook her head
    He can’t do such, he can’t. She knew her sister too well, she also can’t do it

    But even at that, what if they’re pretending? She really has to find out
    She took one last look at the lingerie on the floor and sighed

    She got up, walked to her wardrobe and took out a glass casing
    Then she carefully placed the lingerie into it
    That was her proof if ever anything had gone wrong
    The next day was a Sunday, the family had woken up so late

    Annette got up by eight, and began the day’s chores
    Her husband and sister were still sleeping, so peacefully like babies

    She walked to the tap, fetched some water and then cleaned the house
    Then she did the laundry and then the dishes

    The previous day’s findings were still pondering in her mind and she just couldn’t wait to get it all done up

    After all the work, she proceeded to prepare the food
    That was when the rest of the family woke up

    She prepared the meal so fast and soon she was done with it
    Then she took to the dining and served onto plates

    Soon the family gathered for breakfast
    As soon as they were through, she asked them to wait, that she has something they would like to see

    “Not so fast honey”, she said to Fred who had already shoved back his seat to leave

    Fred stopped and looked at her, she smiled
    “I’ve something that would definitely interest the both of you”, she said

    Sochima looked at her, then at Fred
    “Ok then, let’s see”, she said

    Annette smiled and got up, then left for her room
    She returned seconds later with the glass casing and dropped it on the table before them

    “Here”, she said and opened it, “what do you two have to say about this?”, she asked

    Jeeze!
    They all instantly began looking panicked and shaken, she could detect it in their eyes

    “Sochi? This is yours isn’t it? And I found it in my matrimonial room, doing what?”, she asked

    Sochima’s eyes fell, she was ashamed
    “I’m sorry sister, I didn’t mean to. I’m very sorry”, she pleaded

    Annette looked at her in disgust. Sorry? Was all she could say?
    Could sorry undo what she’s done? Could it?
    Her only sister had betrayed her

    She turned to Fred, he looked sober and ashamed on his own part, she shook her head in pity

    “Fred, if someone ever told me you would do this, I wouldn’t believe, but now not only you did it, but with my own sister”, the tears began pouring out

    Despite all the ordeals she went through just because of him, she was also busy at school turning down the guys approaching her, she didn’t know her husband was at home busy making out with her sister
    How sad and unbelievable

    She took a last look at the both of them, and stormed out into the room

    Sochima followed her immediately and as soon as they got to the room, she began pleading

    “Sister please, I’m sorry. I…. I didn’t know what came over me”

    Annette ignored her and busied herself with bringing out her boxes and arranging her belongings into it

    Sochima was dumbfounded, was she really leaving?

    “Sister please, don’t leave”

    “You keep quiet”, she thundered and Sochima shivered
    “How could you? My own sister, how could you? You so well know all I went through because of him, you know that. Yet you belittled yourself to my matrimonial bed, and betrayed me”, she looked at her with angry eyes and continued with what she was doing

    “Sis please”, she went on her knees

    “Get your filthy self out of here Sochi, I’m leaving you can as well marry him”

    Sochima reluctantly left in tears

    Annette packed up and was ready to leave, when Fred came in

    He didn’t believe she could leave so soon
    “Honey why you doing this?”, he asked trying to prevent her from making more attempts to pack

    “Don’t honey me, go and honey my sister. I’m finally leaving so the house can be free for the both of you”, she rowed out her box

    Fred shook his head, how stupid and naive of him to have done that

    “Please Annette, please. I’m sorry for what happened, besides you can’t just leave because of a mere lingerie you found on our bed”

    “That’s my evidence Fred. You guys have been into this for a long time”, she turned to face him, “you as well so know all I went through in the hands of enemies because of you, I even got pregnant and had to drop out of school, because you meant a lot to me, now you went ahead and betrayed me with my sister”, she cried, “I’ll never forgive the both of you for that, never”, she shouted
    “I’m sorry to say this, but thank God the baby died, like it knew such thing was gonna happen”

    Fred sighed and ran his hands through his hair. All she said was true, she really had gone through a lot because of him, now he had betrayed her with her sister
    How stupid

    She watched as Annette rowed out her boxes to the entrance, still not wanting her to leave, he found what to say

    “Okay, how you gonna cope with your studies?”

    She looked at him
    “I’ve made plans for that already. I’ll be coming tomorrow morning with my lawyer, so I can file for a divorce”

    Fred was stunned
    “What! Did you just hear yourself?”

    “You should be ashamed  yourself, good bye”, she rowed out the boxes outside the house and walked out of thier lives, and probably out of their minds
    Annette sat on the comfy sofa in her posh sitting room, as she sipped champagne from the glass cup, she was going through her next job in line

    Well, it’s been a year since she left the only people she calls family, because of betrayal
    And since then, everything has changed for the better

    She had successfully filed for divorce and therefore has nothing to do with Fred anymore
    Moreso, she had stayed over at a friend’s house to complete her education and immediately after graduation, she moved to Abuja, to be very far from them

    Now she was a journalist, she now had a lot of work to do
    She and her co workers would be leaving for a near by town the next day, to take record of the festival going on there

    She sighed and dropped the book she was holding and then stormed into the room
    Fred rallied around the waiting room in the hospital ward, worried sick about his wife in the labour room

    Well yes, Sochima was now his wife. After the divorce, she found out she was already carrying a child for him, and they decided to make it formal

    She had already had the baby, yes. The baby was a girl and now about a year old
    He had left her in the care of a nanny and ran down to the hospital

    Sochima was pregnant again, and already due to having the baby
    But now the complications were much, the baby seem not to be forthcoming, it was really problem

    He had waited in the waiting room for about two hours, then the doctor came out, followed by a nurse

    “Doctor what’s the problem now?”, he asked

    The doctor sighed
    “Just meet me in the office later on today, there’s a lot to discuss”, and he left.   ©️

           MRS RIVER’S POV
    I ran to Mrs Florida’s house in haste, I can’t afford to be late or I would lose my job.
    I ran into her house to see her fuming in anger. She moved closer to me and while I was about explaining an hot slap landed on my cheek.
    I held my cheek in pain as tears threatened to drop from my eyes.
    “Did you check your time!” She yelled angrily.
    “I am sorry ma’am, I took Theodora to her high school.” I said in tears.
    “Oh really? And who told you someone like her needs to go to school!” She yelled again.
    “I am sorry ma’am.” I said still holding my cheeks.
    “Don’t expect a complete salary today. Get to work now!” She yelled and I ran to the store in haste.
    I am a maid in Mrs Florida’s house, she had never liked me right from time but her husband told her to keep me because of Theodora.
    Her husband really likes me and doesn’t want his wife acting rude to me, but now he isn’t in town I have been suffering.
    I never told Theodora I was a working as a maid, I don’t want her to feel bad so say anything against God because of our situation.
    She is passing through a lot, I can’t tell her my problems too. I started mopping the kitchen floor, I looked at the zinc and I saw different kind of dirty plates in it.
    It is the daily routine, so I was used to it already. I know one day God will surely intervene.
    “Florence!” Mrs Florida yelled from the living room.
    “Ma’am!” I replied running to meet her.
    “I will be reducing your salary with 40% today.” She said with her face glued to the TV.
    “Please Mrs Florida, I beg you in the name of God. I need to get more textbooks for Theodora.” I said kneeling in front of her.
    “Shut up! I have made my decision! Get to work and when you are done come for your money.” She smacked.
    I quickly stood up and ran to the kitchen in tears. How will I get to feed Theodora or even get her the textbooks.
    I need to get another job to support this. I can’t rely on this salary alone.
           THEODORA’S POV
    It was lunch time and all the students went out for the break including Faith and her gang. No one was left in the class expect Matthew and I.
    Matthew was still seated staring into his note. He wore a confusing look on his face and I guessed he didn’t understand the teaching.
    “Hi Matthew.” I said waving at him, He didn’t look up neither did he move. I moved my head to look into his face but I couldn’t see it because of his hair.
    I moved my wheelchair to the front of our table and stopped right in front of him.
    I bent my head to look into his face and I saw his eyes lids blinking really fast, water kept dropping from his nostrils. He looked like he wasn’t conscious.
    “Matthew!” I called in fear but he didn’t respond. I took my handkerchief from my school uniform, I moved it ti his nose slowly.
    I saw he wasn’t planning on moving, I cleaned his nose slightly. Tho I was scared I summoned courage.
    “This is really weird.” I thought staring at his face. I think I need to shake him, or why will he be so stagnant.
    I held him by the arm shaking him gently and I saw him shake his head. He raised his head to look at me.
    His nose had stopped running and his eyes were normal. I sighed in relieve while I kept his gaze on me.
    “You were lost. Here, have this to clean your face properly.” I said stretching the handkerchief to him.
    He collected it slowly and used it to clean his face, I could see tears in his eyes as he did.
    “Its okay.” I said tapping his hands slightly. The school alarm rang signifying the end of our leisure time.
    I can’t believe I didn’t eat throughout. I moved my wheelchair from his front to his side where it was before.
    I saw him check his bag looking for something. Then, he brought out a tablet and bottle of water.
    Then I began to understand something was actually wrong with him. I guess I am not the only one then.
    I am so happy to have someone defend me today for the very first time. I made a new friend Hurray!!!
    He  looked at me with his teary eyes and I felt so much pity for him, I even forgot I don’t have legs.
    “Thank you.” He said trying to smile.
    “It is nothing Matthew.” I replied smiling. He looked at the handkerchief with so much sadness and pain.
    “You can keep it.” I said.
    “No, I will return it.” He replied cleaning his eyes with it.
    “If you insist. Can we be friends?” I asked hoping he would say yes.
    “You can’t be friends with me.” He replied looking away.
    “Well, well, well look who are finally getting along.” Faith said walking to us.
    “Not again!” I mumbled in frustration.
    “Please just go Faith.” I said looking down.
    “Did you just call my name? With that filthy mouth!” She smacked raising her hands up.
    I closed my eyes expecting a slap, but I didn’t feel anything. I opened my eyes gradually to see Matthew holding Faith’s hand boiling in anger.
    Not again, this is the second time he is helping me.
    “Let me go!” Faith smirked.
    “I told you to let her be, didn’t I warn you?” Matthew replied coldly throwing her hands down in anger.
    “Ouch!” She said holding her hands while her gang helped hold her.
    “The battle line has been drawn!” She yelled walking away angrily.
    I turned to look at Matthew, he looked at me and smiled slightly.
    “So back to what we were saying. Why can’t we be friends?” I asked and as he was about to reply another teacher came in.
    This time around, it was a man.
    “Why now! I really want to hear his response.” I thought sadly.

    Before she could object, I took her lips into mine.

    Luckily, she kissed me back..
    The only thing we we’re hearing was the clicking of the camera and the paparazzi videoing us ..

    I had to call the guards to make way for us so they are on the way ..

    I changed it to another station and it was still about us .. geez!

    “I can’t pick up their signal…” I muttered under my breath frustrated it’s been two days and we’ve lost contact with both Seth and Quinn after the mission. “This is so like Seth why are you even worried he went off grid for two months once two days is not that much of a deal.” Erwin said leaning against the wall.
    We were still at the hotel and luckily we’ve been careful covering our tracks making it impossible for Shane’s men to find us if they tried. “I know that but Seth always left behind a clue when he do shits like this.” I muttered out loud, I was alone with Erwin we still had to stay out of sight since Shane had his men on the look out, Haven is with Maria we were able to contact a few days ago they are also hiding too until everything calmed down.
    “Maybe you aren’t looking hard enough.” Erwin suggest. “Why are you worried ? Seth can take care of himself he’s gotten into worst shit before, this isn’t the first and it’s not going to be the last.” Erwin yawned bored. “I know that, this time he’s not alone he’s with Quinn.” I look back at Erwin who finally realize the risk.
    “Dory can take care of herself she’s strong.” He commented getting away from the wall he leaned on. “She’s not weak she’s somehow messed up.” he commented I stopped stare at him he raises his head up looking at the ceiling. “Messed up? “
    “If you pay attention to her eyes they are hiding so many things, pain confusion and fear, who ever messed with her fucked her up big time she wasn’t even supposed to go on those mission we sent her but she did anyways.” he said which caught me off guard.
    “You think someone hurt Quinn? ” I asked recalling what she said about not falling in love again. “I guess, it’s just an observation my actual point there is Quinn can take care of herself and she has Seth they’ll be fine.” he voiced like he could clear less but from the look of his expression he was worried, I guess he was worried about Seth since they are somehow close.
    “I’ll run another scan.” I alerted him and turned to my laptop.

    I sat down on the bed idled as Seth peeked through the blinds of the window constantly, I was glad because I didn’t have to face him that much with the thought we kissed each other back there, all that came across my mind was the kiss I facepalmed myself hiding my bright red face.
    ‘Really a research where did that come from? ‘ I thought to myself blaming myself for using my hunger as an excuse to kiss Seth.
    ‘But you liked it.’ I could feel my thoughts smirking at me, I shake my head trying to convince myself it was Seth’s suggestion.
    I felt a hand tap me from behind. “I was hungry okay? ” I jerked up throwing Seth off guard, he looked confused and taken aback at my reaction. “I’m sorry I was just thinking.” my lame excuse didn’t seem to convince him I wasn’t even convinced myself.
    “We’ll leave in the morning it will be easy to sneak out.” I nodded my head showing I understand what he said. “I get it we’ll be here for a while.” I averted my eyes away from his and walked past him to get his bag, on our way back we got some snacks after the kissing scenario none of us brought it up and I didn’t bother I was way too embarrassed.
    I sat down at the far end of the bed away from him, he sits down at the other end we both remained in awkward silence not even bothering to utter a word. “How long have you been a police officer ?” he asked I stopped snacking and froze at first, I heaved a sigh of relief pet talking myself to say the right words.
    “Three years.”
    “Three years ?” I could hear the doubt in his voice. “Yeah, I was assigned to small tasks like giving a car a ticket, helping old people cross the street.”
    “You liked it? ” he asked.
    “Yes, I liked seeing a lot of people happy until I got promoted and started dealing with robbery investigation and thugs, I remember competing with Zoe Fehl, we both were at each other neck claiming who’s the best.. She got promoted.” I said riding on memory lane.
    “They didn’t pick you for promotion? ” he asked. “They did, I quit.” I gulped down hard thinking how I quit after Terry convince me.
    “You quit? ” he muttered in doubts I wasn’t going to tell him about Terry, not now. “Yeah but after I realized I made a big mistake I resumed.” I exaggerate a bit far from the truth, Seth looked unconvinced. “Why would you quit if you love being a police officer? ” he asked.
    “It’s personal…” I stated calmly trying to keep my emotions under control. “Personal? ” he mocked, I felt him get up from his side of the bed. “The reason why you quit is it related to the person who hurt you? ” I choked on my silava giving myself out.
    Suddenly he stood in front of me. “Who is it? ” he asked with a grave tone, he sounded like he was going to kill somebody I don’t want that to happen, Terry can just die not after what he put me through, death is just way too easy. “Did they threaten you to leave? Did they blackmail you? ” I avoided eye contact as much as I could.
    “It was my choice to leave the force.” I lied.
    Seth cracked into a laugh, I stared at my thigh he pulled my chin up I still didn’t look him in the eye. “Look me in the eye and tell me the truth.” he requested my heart raced I couldn’t keep focus with him next to him and he wants me to look him in the eye.
    “I’m telling the truth.” I lied again. “Then it won’t be hard to look me in the eye and say it.” I still didn’t heed. “You’re stubborn.” he said and suddenly I was pushed down to the bed with both my wrist pinned down to the bed.
    The room was silent and all I could hear was the beats of my heart, immediately our eyes met and again my stomach churned.
    “Get off me… ” I stated calmly. “Or else what? ” he didn’t care about letting go of me. “You’ll give me another black eye ?” he sneered at me, both our eyes were still focused.
    He trailed his hands from my wrist and locked them with mine still pinning me down, I was calm but suddenly the memory of Terry pressing me down on the bed flashed across my mind, the memory played like a movie my eyes welled up but not a single tear slide down. I breathe calmly since I was frozen in fear, I was my defense mechanism sometimes. Seth read my face and loosen his grip from my hand and gets off me sitting a bit away from me on his bed.
    I slowly got up after gaining control of my body, I rubbed my arms nervously trying to ease out the tight tension in my chest.
    “Get some sleep you’ll need it for the night.” he advised I just nodded and laid on the bed lost in thought until I slept off.

    I was called to New York to assist during a case about Heloise Peigns, my department which included me another nurse, Zoe and a few professional officers were requested to team up with the department In New York to find her and a few missing women, suddenly we were told Heloise was found she was brought to the police station along with a few women and their dead bodies after, I was taking care of the injuries of Heloise she looked traumatized while I ran a check up for her.
    “You’re going to be okay sweetie.” I told her a knock came in as a blonde girl on glasses ran in to hug Heloise, she was crying I supposed she was crying hugging her traumatized friend who seemed glad.
    “I’m so glad you are okay..” she squeezed her into a hug all I could do was admire their love and admiration for each other, I walked out giving them time to talk to each other.
    I strolled down greeting a few officers until I heard Zoe’s voice when I passed through an office. I stopped and concluded on eavesdropping. “Heloise couldn’t provide information on who the hell saved her she said they were wearing masks it has to be AXE-L.” she whispered.
    “Why would they save her and leave it for the authorities it doesn’t make sense.” I heard another voice it was a male, it familiarize to be Justin a part of my team. “They weren’t doing it for good they needed a distraction somehow so they could kill Diego Vans he was reported dead after a gun fire at his yatch.” she mummered. “But Heloise confirmed Diego locked her after she found out about his illegal business.”
    “AXE-L had something to do with this they could have brain washed her for all we know she’s barely in her state of mind we need to investigate deeper into this with assistance if we apprehend AXE-L it’s going to be a big deal.” she said I was about to leave since they had nothing interesting that intrigued me.
    “You’re talking like we have the budget for it.”
    “We do if we take the budget and resources Quinn’s filthy rich uncle donated to finding her instead of letting it go to waste and finding that irrelevant bitch we’ll investigate on the case of AXE-L.” she said, is she serious.
    “You’re joking? “
    “I’m not, what’s the point of finding Quinn she eloped with her stupid lover of a boyfriend as naive as she was and quit the force, who knows maybe she might have run off with him again.” she scoffed and I was ready to get in there and slap the shit out of her.
    “Don’t you think you’re going too far? ” Justin asked.
    “Did Quinn think she was going too far when she quit the force she even aborted her child because she didn’t care she can go to hell for all I care.” she said, I wanted to go in and fight but it’s no use starting a fight in work, Zoe was loved by everyone and they always took her by her word, they’ll believe her if I told them why I even tried to fight her.
    “The Commissioner won’t grant your request.” Justin told her. “I already told her she said she will invite Quinn’s uncle and talk to him about it, if we find her what difference does it make she’s useless.” I backed away from the door, my best friend was missing and all Zoe could think about was using the budget made to find Quinn to investigate about AXE-L so she could get promoted.
    It was messed up In so many levels.
    I turned around furious, I heard Azia my fellow nurse call me but I ignored her, does anyone care about finding Quinn.
    “Everyone is nuts..” I muttered under my breath heading back to meet Heloise she was now talking with her friend, they both were red eyed catching up it reminded me so much of me and Quinn.
    “Mandy I need your signature.” Azia managed to catch up to me, I took the clipboard away from her and the pen seeing everyone sign their signature, I gave Azia the clipboard without signing it and walked out she called but I didn’t bother answering I picked up my phone heaving a deep breath thinking I would never dail this number again, u went to a corner as it rang, immediately it picked up.
    “You finally called.” the voice chorused.
    “I thought about your offer don’t think I forgive you after the shit you got me into does the offer still stands? ” I muttered.
    “What made you change your mind? “he cooed.

    “None of your business, you want me or not? “

    “What about your job? You know what you’re getting yourself involved if you agree Mandy.” he purred my name.
    “Are you trying to discourage me now? I’m aware of the risk I’m getting myself into we’ve fucked remember.” I said with no emotion.

    “I’ll have my men come get you whenever you are ready, goodnight Mandy.” he said.
    “Yeah, goodnight… Shane.”

    FRED sat comfortably on the sofa in the sitting room and busied himself watching the evening news, as he patiently waited for Sochima to be done with the meals

    Well, yes, Sochima had begun living with them. Since the death of her parents, a lot had happened and a lot had changed

    Annette had resumed school, and Sochima had relocated to Lagos and begun living with them, since she couldn’t stay alone

    Talking of the accident, how exactly had it happened?

    Mr and Mrs Chike had embarked on a journey to a neighbouring town for the burial function of a friend

    Sochima had pleaded to go with them, but they had vehemently refused stating she was still young for that

    In disappointment and reluctance, she agreed to stay at home. In fact, that fateful Friday, she had gone visiting Favy, Fred’s sister

    Burial concluded and they set out on their way home, they hadn’t travelled a long distance when out of the blues, came an oncoming trailer in full speed and hooting so loudly

    Mr Chike tried moving on to the other lane, but it was not safe, cars were moving
    He swivelled to the left, there was a big ditch. He was now at lost on what to do

    Panic flew in, the trailer was still coming on high speed. Before they could say Jack Robinson, the trailer and their car had an head-on collision, with the trailer smashing into the car with full force

    It was so devastating as the car caught up with fire instantly
    It was so sorry, the accident claimed their lives

    Though it was about two years since it occurred, the incident couldn’t be easily cleaned off from their minds

    Sochima packed down to Lagos and began staying with them, while Annette with all encouraging words from her husband, resumed school

    Life had gone on

    Sochima soon walked into the dining and announced the food was ready

    “Uncle Fred”, she called

    Fred looked up at her

    “The food’s ready now”, she said

    Fred smiled and nodded
    “Thanks”, he shortly replied

    Sochima slightly nodded and turned, then walked out of the sitting room

    Fred watched her as she left, she’s really grown, not the little girl he had known the period he began falling in love with her sister

    He watched her leave and nodded to the fact that she’s really grown into a beautiful woman
    Fair complexioned unlike Annette, round face and large hypnotizing eyes
    She was putting on just a vest and shorts, giving him a clear view of her
    He smiled

    He looked around to be sure someone wasn’t watching him, well who dared does that? No one except the both of them were at home
    As for Annette, she was in school where she studies journalism

    He smirked and stood up,then headed towards the dining
    Annette came out of the library where she had gone to read for the evening when someone called out to her

    She turned and on seeing the caller, she sighed

    How many times had she told this guy that she’s married and therefore not in the position and mood to keep relationships?
    She keeps on telling him, but he keeps on coming to her

    Though it really hadn’t been easy for her, loosing her baby and parents almost simultaneously
    But her husband had been her back bone, and an encouragement

    Going back to school was never in her plan again, following the death of her parents, but Fred had nudged her to, her sister inclusive, and she had obliged

    School with running a family wasn’t really easy, she goes to school during the week days and returned every weekend, to spend time with her husband

    This had continued for two years now, and would soon all end

    She waited up for her caller to walk up to her

    “Hey Anne? Been looking around for ya”, he smiled

    Annette sighed
    “I’ve told you a lotta times before Nonso, I’m married. Why you still coming after me?”

    Nonso laughed
    “Because I know you’re lying to me”, he winked

    Annette hissed
    Why wouldn’t he thinks she’s lying? When she had married so early.
     When she’s got no wedding ring on her. Why not?
    Her marriage had gone the way she never wanted, never

    She looked at him
    “Well I’m sorry to disappoint you but it’s the truth, I’m actually married. Ask around”

    He licked his lips
    “Well I think I should save up my energy for such nonsense”, he looked around, then turned to her, “I’m for real Anne, I’m not like all other fake guys. I’m for real, just give me a chance please”

    She rolled her eyes
    “I’m sorry”, she turned and left

    He looked round again then walked up to her
    “Anne?”, he called

    “Don’t bring up this matter again Nonso, or you wouldn’t like what will come next after that”, she sternly warned and walked away
    Fred covered up the plates after eating and left the dining, going to his room
    The thought of Sochima, his wife’s sister hadn’t waved off his head, infact they didn’t seem to be waving away

    He tried pushing the thought out of his head, but they kept coming in full force

    Going to his room to retire for the night, he abruptly stopped by her room
    The door was closed and he placed his ear on it, all he could hear was the showering of water, she seemed to be having her bath

    Against his wish, he tried the door knob and it opened, then he stealthily walked in

    Much to his surprise, very much to his surprise the first thing that greeted his eyes as soon as he entered the room was her nude body in the bath!

    She had left the bathroom door opened, why not? She wasn’t expecting anyone

    Fred looked at her with his mouth ajar, she was backing him, and so couldn’t see him

    For minutes he stood there watching and drooling, she turned off the shower after bathing, and that was when he realized himself

    He quickly turned back, and as stealthily as he came, he left

    Fred couldn’t think straight since the moment he saw Sochima in the bath, he had been thinking dirty

    He quickly took his bath and flopped on the bed
    Sleep couldn’t elude him and he knew why?

    “What am I doing?”, he asked himself
    Why was he thinking this way?

    After about an hour of trying to catch a sleep, and it couldn’t come, he decided to go see her
    After all, his wife wasn’t home. Besides who knew what she did herself at school

    He shrugged and got up, then walked to Sochima’s room.

    I killed my car engine and got out of the car then shut the door. I brought out my phone from the bag then switch it on to check whether i had any message but none. Geez. I put it in my jacket pocket.

    So Justin forgot my birthday, huh? No problem. But Alex own pained me more. I kept hissing as I got to my door and opened up.

    Holy Molly.. Why is everywhere dark like this? I reached for my phone inside my bag to Atleast use the flashlight but I couldn’t find it.

    I just kept the phone in this bag few minutes ago. Mtcheew. I move gently and slowly to avoid pumping into anything. Trying to reach where the switch was.

    I switch it on and immediately remember I had put the phone in my jacket pocket. Silly Tiwa. I chuckled and turned. I flinched immediately.

    I gasp and covered my mouth with my palm. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

    The living room was full. Rotimi and his Wife. Taiwo! Wow. It been ages. The other guy that was staring at me, the day I resumed work. What’s his name again? Lewis. Yeah Lewis

    Justin, Ella, Alex, some colleagues and OMG not excluding Alex’s parents. I thought my birthday was just gonna go like that but it a lie. People are gathered here for me.

    “Mom, Dad”. I exclaimed and gave them a warm hug. I went over to everybody hugging them and lastly. Alex.

    “Hey”.

    “Happy Birthday Gorgeous”.

    I smiled. “You love surprises, dont you? “.

    “You owe me a hug.Don’t tell me am the only one,you not gonna hug”.

    I smiled and went into his open arms. This actually the first time, we’re hugging.
    Wait… I feel different… My heartbeats… Am feeling somehow. It felt as if I was with someone, am connected to. Someone I needed. Someone,I shouldn’t leave. What’s happening to me?.

    Someone cleared his or her throat and I unlock from the hug. I kinda felt a bit embarrassed cos I realize we’ve hugged for long.

    “Come make a wish, so you can cut the cake”.

    A cake? I look down at the glass table and OMG. A big beautiful Cake with strawberry all over it. It looks so yummy.I gelt myself drooling.

    “Happy Birthday Gorgeous”. Was written on it. I know it Alex’s doing. I look at his direction and he winked at me.

    I blushed. What else have I not notice in this room? I look around the living room. To behold a beautiful sight. Balloons and cute flowers. It was well decorated.

    “Can you please come and blow the candle, make a wish and cut your cake? I’ve been drooling “. Justin said and Ella gave him a girly punch..
    I move to the cake and bent a little. Time to make a wish. Seriously this the best birthday, have ever had.

    “This new year, I pray it should come with sea of blessings from heaven. I pray that my life be filled with prosperity. Let there be good hope and infinite love. Thank you lord for sparing my life and….

    “Laura, blow this thing na. Shuu”. I heard Justin whined and I blew the candle.

    I cut the cake and Justin was the first person that came to me. I took a bite from the cake and moaned. It so yummy.

    “Thank you so much everybody. Most especially my husband and my father and mother inlaw. This the best birthday have ever had. I thought my day was just gonna pass by like norm days but you guys made it. Am so glad.

    “I’ll like someone to have a bite before everybody, may I please? “.

    “Yeah”. Everybody chorused. I saw Alex grinning. Sorry dear but i’ll burst your bubbles. “Mrs Stella Philips”. I announced.
    Everybody was surprised, they clapped. I cut a little portion and took it to her.

    “Thank you so much Tiwa. For honoring me”. She said and opened her mouth and I stuffed it in.

    “Let’s pop the champagne and rock this place!! “. Justin screamed.

    Alex and I walk slowly and finally got to the pool. We sat and had our legs in it. I told him to let’s go out for a while. Everyone was still inside.

    “Thanks for making my day. I thought you forgot or did not know about it, anyways”.
    “Of course not, I knew it a year ago when I was going through the stuffs you left behind”.

    “Oh”. I mouthed. Yeah I only took some of my stuffs when I left the house. Not everything. Gosh.. I don’t wanna remember the old ugly times.

    Silence troop in. All we could hear was the laughter coming from the living room. It kinda feel awkward.

    “Umm. Mr Alex”.

    “Yeah Mrs Laura”.

    “How about we do something crazy tonight”.

    “Something crazy? “.
    “Yeah”.

    “like what? “.

    “Let’s sneak out”.

    “Sneak out? “.

    “Yeah please…. “. I reply shaking him by the arm.

    “Okay let’s go but the key is inside “.
    “Car key? “.

    “Yeah”.

    “Nah. Come on. We’re going to trek”.

    “What?! “. He half screamed and I frowned. “Sorry.

    I haven’t done that before”.

    “Yeah. Just forget it”. I said and stood up leaving the pool.

    “Hey wait”. I stopped on my track without looking back.

    “Let’s go”.

    “Wow really”. He nodded and hugged him but quickly disengage from the hug. I don’t wanna experience that strange feelings again.

    We tiptoed to the gate like teenage lovers.
    “Madam. Are you going somewhere? “. The gateman asked.

    “Umm……

    “We wanna check something outside”. Alex said saving me cos I don’t even know the lie to make up. He opened the gate and we walk out.

    “How about we do something? “.

    “Like what? “.

    “Let’s run! “.

    “What?!! “.
    “Common Mr Alex. I told you in the first place that it a crazy stuff. Stop being a dickehead. Geez.. “.

    “Am sorry. Come on”.

    “Then catch me if you can”. I said and ran off while he ran after me.

    He soon catch up with me. Both of us panting. “I’ve never done something like this before”.

    “That means you never had fun growing up”.

    “You can say that again. Being an only child arent funny. My mum always want me by her side”.

    “Wow thats an ice cream shop over there”. I beamed pointing at a shop across the road.
    “Yeah let’s go grab some”.

    “Oh oh. I only have my phone here. My purse arent here”. I said sadly.

    “I have my wallet here”. He grinned.
    “Wow. You’re not a dickhead after all”. I chuckled.

    “Let’s cross then”.

    “Cross to the other side? “. He half screamed.

    Oh God.. “What again, Mr Alex? “.

    ” Am sorry but i’ve never done that before. Let’s just wait for a cab”.

    I ignored him. Grab his hand and made sure there was no car then we both walk to the other side with him clunging unto me.
    We entered the shop and i release his hands when I realized have been holding him for long.

    We approached a vacant table, he brought the chair out for me and I sat down.

    “I’ll be right back”. He said and left.

    The ice cream shop is nice. I must say. Very beautiful. There were few people in it. Mostly teenage lovers and just two grown up adult like Alex and I.

    “Here we go”. I look up to see Alex. He settled beside me.

    “Awwn. What flavor is this? “.

    “Vanilla and strawberry”.

    “How do you know what am craving for? Have you start reading minds? “.
    He chuckled and I admire his cute smile. What’s going on with me. “I just guess”.
    We ate our ice cream gisting about silly things like our childhood. I kept stealing from his cup cos it was melting and he was eating slowly.

    “Can’t you stop stealing mine? You have yours. Geez”. He whined and I chuckled.
    I tried to steal from his cup again and he caught my hand making my spoon leave a stain on his cheek.

    I chuckled. “Now you’re looking like Santa”.
    “What? “.

    “Just shut up and let me help you get it off. Mummy’s boy”.

    “Am no Mummy’s boy. I’ve told you countless time”.

    “Can you stop being a jerk and let me get it off”.

    “Nah. I’ll just do it myself”. He said and wipe his face making it come close to his mouth.

    I couldn’t help but laugh hard. People around look at our direction and soon face their business.

    “And why are you laughing now? It your mess anyways. So clean it”. He said more like an order.

    “Oh really. Now you’re sounding bossy. You just said you’d do it yourself. Then do please”. I said and face my cup. I look up at him and saw him staring at me.

    He rolled his eyes. “Okay do it”.

    “Do it?. Just like that”.

    “What? What else do you want me to say. Okay. Please ma, Mrs Laura clean it”.
    “Good boy. Now you’re talking”.

    “I just told you to stop calling me a boy”.
    “You still wanna argue, right? Okay”.

    “Nah. Just do it now”.

    “Untill you accept you’re a boy”.
    “Seriously. Do you realise i’ll soon turn thirty two? “.

    I shrugged. “Who cares? “.

    “Arrgh. Okay. Am a boy”.

    “Say Alex is a boy”.

    “Alex is a boy”.

    I giggled. I took my thumb to his face and wipe it off. Like magic, my thumb move to his lips. They so soft. What will it feel like tasting them? I’ve never had a proper kiss before.

    I found my head moving closer to his. Our heads were coming closer and our face was just inches apart. Our nose touched.

    “Grriinhg”. My phone suddenly rang. I withdraw and pick up my phone. “It Justin. We should go now”.

    “Umm yeah”. We stood up and left the shop. We were both silent, walking slowly and then crossed the road.

    Wait. What the hell almost happened? We almost kissed. What? What if Justin did not call?.What’s the chemistry between us? Geez.. Tiwa… But I kinda wished we kiss though. Why?

    “Mrs Laura”. I heard Alex call breaking into my thought.

    “Yeah”.

    “We home”.

    I look up and it was true. We outside my gate already”wow so soon”.

    “Yeah”.

    I was about to knock when he held me back. I turned and face him.

    “Can you close your eye for a while? “.

    “Huh? Okay”. I did and few seconds, I heard his footsteps as he came closer.I felt something cold on me. “You can open your eyes”.

    I open my eyes and my hand travel to my neck. Wow. A pendulum necklace.
    “Happy Birthday. Once again”. He said and all I could do was smile.

    “Thank you”. I muttered. I wanna kiss him but how do I tell him? Just how?

    My face went closer to his and I gave him a light kiss. A kiss that was like a peck. Then I withdraw. I don’t know what to do anyways.
    I couldn’t look into his face. “Umm have never kissed before,So I don’t know what to……

    I was cut off as his lips crashed on mine. He held my face with one hand and the other on my waist and deepen the kiss.

    Wow we’re really doing this.

    THE sounds of the cries of little children and walking feet across the marble floor filtered into Annette’s ears and her eyes flickered open

    She was at daze about her surroundings as she looked round, everywhere was white
    White walls, white curtains on the window, white ceiling and white bed she was lying on

    For a moment she was confused and she racked her brain, trying to recollect what must have happened

    Thanks it dawned on her, she remembered being attacked in her house, the door opening and then it was Fred

    She didn’t know whatever happened afterwards, because she passed out

    She must be in the hospital, she thought
    She stirred and turned her head and she saw Fred, he was sitting on a couch close to the door

    Fred noticed Annette stirred and he looked towards the bed, a smile played on his lips
    At last, she was awake

    She had passed out as soon as he entered the house, and he had immediately rushed her to the hospital

    He stood up and walked to the bed

    “Hi, you are awake”, he said

    She sighed and nodded
    “Yeah”

    He smiled and took her left hand in his

    “You will always be mine, no matter what happens”, he said softly

    Annette was confused to hear that, she waved it off anyway
    What she needed to know was how had he known she was in danger to have come to her rescue?
    And what has become of the perpetrators?

    She looked at him, the questions filled in her mouth but no idea on how to start it

    Fred looked at her and smiled, he knew what was going on in her mind, he didn’t want her to bother herself about it, at least not now
    He bent down and pecked her lips

    “Don’t bother asking, all you need now is rest”, he whispered

    Annette shook her head, she needed to know

    “I must know, please tell me. How come you knew I was in danger, to have come and saved me?”

    He sighed
    “That’s really nothing for you to worry about”, he said

    Actually there was no big deal on that, he had only just woken up that morning feeling uncomfortable bad
    He decided to go check up on her

    She shook her head
    “Well what about the Timi and the rest? I’m now getting scared of her, no one knows what she’s up to. I just feel like leaving the cause of all these problem”, she looked up at him, “leaving you”, she said

    His face changed
    “You don’t solve a problem by running away from it okay? Anyways as regards them, they’ve all been expelled from the school, and apprehended by the police”

    She heaved a sigh of relief
    “That’s really good news, I want all these to be over”

    “Of course it has. If only you don’t run away from your problem”

    She looked at him and smiled, she knew what he meant. If she doesn’t leave him
    Why would she?

    She shook her head
    “I won’t”

    He smiled
    “Now you are talking. Er…..”, he paused, scared to ask what he had in mind

    “Go on”, she nudged him

    He sighed
    “Well I’m really sorry this has to happen to you, not only had it happened, it happened just three days to my graduation”

    She smiled, she got what he’s trying to say
    “Well, it’s….it’s nothing though, I’ll be fine soon”

    “Of course I know that. But would you be able?”

    She was confused
    “Sorry, able to what?”

    “As regards what we discussed. My special present, would I be able to get it that day?”

    A smile played on her face, she nodded
    “Of course, for you”

    His eyes widened
    “You serious? Are you sure you can?”

    “Yeah”

    He couldn’t believe his ears, he was so happy
    “Thank you”, he kissed the back of her palm

    “Welcome”

    “So, I think I should go get you something, you must be really famished now”

    She laughed
    “Yeah, please do”

    “Sure”, he pecked her forehead, “I’ll be right back”, and he turned and left the ward

    Fred walked up to Annette as she sat on the sofa, her legs crossed and watching TV
    She was sipping wine along

    “Hey dear, bath ready”, he said and then bent forward to peck her on the cheek

    She smiled
    “Thanks Fred”, she looked at herself, “I can’t believe I’m still on my party dress”, they laughed

    “It was really weary, I mean the day”, he waved his head

    “Yeah”, she nodded and got up, they walked to the bathroom
    “Well I can’t believe you’ve finally graduated today Fred”, she winked

    He laughed
    “You have to believe that baby”

    They got to the bathroom
    “Well I think you should leave now, let me have my bath”, she laughed

    “Sure, just wanted to make sure you got here safely”, he winked

    “You must be insane”

    “Insane whenever I’m around you”, and he left

    Annette got into the shower, and the water began pouring out

    Fred walked into the kitchen and began dishing out the food he had earlier bought

    It was his graduation day, the day he graduated from the higher I, and so they had just been no time even for cooking

    He smiled as he remembered seeing his parents and little sister all hale and hearty, Annette’s mom had joined them in coming to celebrate with him

    As for him and Annette, they would be returning home for the holidays the next day

    After dishing out the food, he placed it in a tray and carried it to the dining, then he returned to the kitchen
    He opened the refrigerator and brought out a can of tuna and two packs of juice. Then he took them to the dining

    By the time he got to the dining, Annette was also coming in, finished bath, and was putting on his t-shirt

    “Finished bathing?”, he asked

    Annette looked at him
    “No, I’m still bathing”, she shoved back a chair and sat

    “But you look sweet in that t-shirt of mine”

    She smiled
    “Thanks. Wow, we have a lot for dinner”

    “Yeah”, he sat down

    “I can’t wait to devour these”, she made to take a plate from the piled up, and he stopped her

    “You are my guest aren’t you? Let me do that”, he said

    She shrugged and allowed him
    She watched him serve the food onto the plates, poured some juice into the cups, and they began eating

    Silence reigned as they watered their gullets

    Suddenly the event of yesterday night, came playing in her head, how she was almost raped and then the sudden appearance of those boys, and her escape

    Who were those boys? And how had she escaped without them knowing?
    She looked at Fred, she wanted to tell him, but decided against that

    “Hope you enjoying the food?”, Fred broke into her thoughts

    She looked at him and replied with a start
    “Oh yeah, very well”, she smiled

    “I wanted so”, he took a piece of chicken from his plate and put it in hers, “so tell me what’s going on in that young mind of yours?”

    She was shocked. How did he know her mind is really troubled at the moment
    She sighed, as she played with her cutleries

    “I’m all ears”, he pressed on

    She looked at him, should she tell him?
    “Well, I….. I was attacked yesterday night on my way home”

    Fred nodded
    “I know that”

    She looked at him, eyes widened
    “You know that? How do you mean?”, she asked startled

    He sighed
    “I mean I know. He wanted to rape you right?”

    What! She was flabbergasted, how did he knew?

    “How……how did you know?”

    He laughed
    “I had you followed. I mean you can’t go home alone on such hour”

    What!
    He had her followed? She was pissed off now
    She dropped her cutleries

    “You mean you did that?”

    “Yeah, because I know very well that you won’t let me do that if I asked you, so I took you unawares, I sent those guys”

    Huh? Those boys were sent by him? How interesting it sounds
    She was speechless, all she could do was watch him in awe

    “My God”, she said, her left hand on her chest

    “Well I’m sorry for not telling you, but it saved you”

    She nodded in agreement, it really did saved her

    “Yeah it did. Thanks”, she looked away in shyness

    He smiled, he dropped his cutleries and stared at her
    “Anne?”, he called

    “Yes?”, she looked up at him

    He sighed
    “I’m really sorry for all the things you were going through because of me, yeah, I’m really sorry”

    She smiled, he was sorry? That was good to hear

    “Um…. thanks anyway”

    He nodded
    “Don’t worry about anything again ok?”

    She nodded
    “I’m only worried how I’ll be staying alone in school without you, now that you’ve finally graduated”, she twisted her lips

    He lowly laughed
    “That’s no problem Anne ok? It’s no problem. Come on”, he took a spoonful of rice and directed it towards her mouth

    Annette watched in fear as Fred advanced towards her, his shirt off
    She really wasn’t sure if what she’s to do, she only knew she was giving him the present; the special present

    He made her lie her back on the bed and then he laid on top of her

    “I’m gonna be easy on you ok?”, he whispered softly into her ears, then he began bitting at it

    THE sounds of the cries of little children and walking feet across the marble floor filtered into Annette’s ears and her eyes flickered open

    She was at daze about her surroundings as she looked round, everywhere was white
    White walls, white curtains on the window, white ceiling and white bed she was lying on

    For a moment she was confused and she racked her brain, trying to recollect what must have happened

    Thanks it dawned on her, she remembered being attacked in her house, the door opening and then it was Fred

    She didn’t know whatever happened afterwards, because she passed out

    She must be in the hospital, she thought
    She stirred and turned her head and she saw Fred, he was sitting on a couch close to the door

    Fred noticed Annette stirred and he looked towards the bed, a smile played on his lips
    At last, she was awake

    She had passed out as soon as he entered the house, and he had immediately rushed her to the hospital

    He stood up and walked to the bed

    “Hi, you are awake”, he said

    She sighed and nodded
    “Yeah”

    He smiled and took her left hand in his

    “You will always be mine, no matter what happens”, he said softly

    Annette was confused to hear that, she waved it off anyway

    “Well what about the Timi and the rest? I’m now getting scared of her, no one knows what she’s up to. I just feel like leaving the cause of all these problem”, she looked up at him, “leaving you”, she said

    His face changed
    “You don’t solve a problem by running away from it okay? Anyways as regards them, they’ve all been expelled from the school, and apprehended by the police”

    She heaved a sigh of relief
    “That’s really good news, I want all these to be over”

    “Of course it has. If only you don’t run away from your problem”

    She looked at him and smiled, she knew what he meant. If she doesn’t leave him
    Why would she?

    She shook her head
    “I won’t”

    He smiled
    “Now you are talking. Er…..”, he paused, scared to ask what he had in mind

    “Go on”, she nudged him

    He sighed
    “Well I’m really sorry this has to happen to you, not only had it happened, it happened just three days to my graduation”

    She smiled, she got what he’s trying to say
    “Well, it’s….it’s nothing though, I’ll be fine soon”

    “Of course I know that. But would you be able?”

    She was confused
    “Sorry, able to what?”

    “As regards what we discussed. My special present, would I be able to get it that day?”

    A smile played on her face, she nodded
    “Of course, for you”

    “You serious? Are you sure you can?”

    “Thank you”, he kissed the back of her palm

    “So, I think I should go get you something, you must be really famished now”

    Fred walked up to Annette as she sat on the sofa, her legs crossed and watching TV
    She was sipping wine along

    “Hey dear, bath ready”, he said and then bent forward to peck her on the cheek

    “Thanks Fred”, she looked at herself, “I can’t believe I’m still on my party dress”, they laughed

    “It was really weary, I mean the day”, he waved his head

    “Yeah”, she nodded and got up, they walked to the bathroom
    “Well I can’t believe you’ve finally graduated today Fred”, she winked

    “You have to believe that baby”

    They got to the bathroom
    “Well I think you should leave now, let me have my bath”, she laughed

    “Sure, just wanted to make sure you got here safely”, he winked

    She watched him serve the food onto the plates, poured some juice into the cups, and they began eating

    Silence reigned as they watered their gullets

    Suddenly the event of yesterday night, came playing in her head, how she was almost raped and then the sudden appearance of those boys, and her escape

    Who were those boys? And how had she escaped without them knowing?
    She looked at Fred, she wanted to tell him, but decided against that

    “Hope you enjoying the food?”, Fred broke into her thoughts

    She looked at him and replied with a start
    “Oh yeah, very well”, she smiled

    “I wanted so”, he took a piece of chicken from his plate and put it in hers, “so tell me what’s going on in that young mind of yours?”

    She was shocked. How did he know her mind is really troubled at the moment
    She sighed, as she played with her cutleries

    “I’m all ears”, he pressed on

    She looked at him, should she tell him?
    “Well, I….. I was attacked yesterday night on my way home”

    Fred nodded
    “I know that”

    She looked at him, eyes widened
    “You know that? How do you mean?”, she asked startled

    He sighed
    “I mean I know. He wanted to rape you right?”

    What! She was flabbergasted, how did he knew?

    “How……how did you know?”

    He laughed
    “I had you followed. I mean you can’t go home alone on such hour”

    What!
    He had her followed? She was pissed off now
    She dropped her cutleries

    “You mean you did that?”

    “Yeah, because I know very well that you won’t let me do that if I asked you, so I took you unawares, I sent those guys”

    “Anne?”, he called

    He nodded
    “Don’t worry about anything again ok?”

    “I’m only worried how I’ll be staying alone in school without you, now that you’ve finally graduated”, she twisted her lips

    He lowly laughed
    “That’s no problem Anne ok? It’s no problem. Come on”, he took a spoonful of rice and directed it towards her mouth
