    2 DAYS LATER
    Tracy was the only one in their Hostel, she has finished her lecture for the day so other girls were still in school. she was pressing her phone when she heard a knock on the door.
    Tracy: Wait oo,, babes una came back fast oo (she said as she approached the door)
    She opened it and a punch followed suit but she was very fast to dodge it. She walked back a little when 6 Guys came in.
    Tracy: Oh I see
    Guy1: Perfect, she’s the only one at home
    Tracy: Leave here now (she was slowly walking back to the room where their guns are)
    Guy2: Grab her now
    2 of the guys rushed her but she quickly ran into the room and the 2 guys chased her into the room, the 4 other guys were waiting at the sitting room for them to come out but they didt, they were about to go in when Tracy stepped out of the room with her gun and was pointing it at 4 other guys, they brought out their own gun and also pointed it at her.
    Tracy: Save yourselves and surrender cause if we should start, I won’t have mercy on any of you.
    Guy3: Hey b—h shut that trap and drop your gun.
    Guy2: Guys make we waist this girl and move out from there.
    They started shooting at her, Tracy got angered and shot at them and they all fell down and started bleeding.
    The School Security men came in at that instance. They saw the 4 guys are already down.
    They went over to Tracy and started asking her if she’s alright and she told them that she’s alright.
    They took the guys away to the Police Hospital.
    Cynthia heard what that has happened in their Hostel and she hurriedly went over to the Hostel and met some students at the entrance of the Hostel, The School Security men helped her scale through the Crowd into their Hostel.
    The Security men then discharged the students to back to their various Hostel and departments and leave that spot. They all left while the Security also followed suit.
    Cynthia got inside and met Tracy boiling in range, Cynthia looked round the room and some traces of Blood on the floor, she walked over to where Tracy was and sat down beside her.
    Cynthia: Are you ok?
    Tracy: Yes I am
    Cynthia: What actually happened?
    Tracy took time and told her everything that just happened.
    Cynthia: I know it will soon get to this, and they are more to come.
    Tracy: And am ready for them.
    Cynthia: Yes we are ready for them shaa, we still need to do the training before (she was cut short when her phone started ringing)
    She checked the caller and saw is the Vice Chancellor, she sighed to relief the tension in her before she picked the call.
    Cynthia: Hello, Good day sir
    VC: How are you?
    Cynthia: Fine sir
    VC: I heard what happened hope your girls are ok?
    Cynthia: Yes sir, they are fine sir
    VC: That’s good, so what really happened
    Cynthia told him everything that Tracy told her.
    VC: Those criminals will be dealt with I will make sure of that
    Cynthia: Thank you sir
    VC: Make sure you call me when ever you need anything at all, you girls are doing a great job here.
    Cynthia: Ok sir, Thank you very much sir
    VC: Your welcome, bye
    Cynthia: Ok sir
    The Call was ended.
    Tracy: Is that the VC?
    Cynthia: Yes
    Tracy: Ok
    Cynthia: Babe go take your bath while I clean up all this mess, you really need to rest your mind.
    Tracy: Don’t worry am ok
    Cynthia: I know you are but just look at yourself, stained with blood, you need to bath please
    Tracy: Ok
    Tracy went into the bathroom to take her bath, Cynthia brought out some Bucket of water and rag and started cleaning the blood on the tied Floor, The door opened While Mary and Alice came in.
    Mary: Babe, wetin xup here
    Cynthia: Calm down make una come in first
    Alice: Abeg tell us joor
    Cynthia told them what happened.
    Mary: Chai they are lucky I wasn’t the one, I would have skinned them alive.
    Alice: Chai, where is Tracy now?
    Cynthia: She’s taking her bath.
    Monica stepped in.
    Monica: Haa so is true, see blood everywhere. (she was looking round the room)
    Cynthia: You all should go and get rag lets clean up this place.
    They all went and got rag and started cleaning the floor together with Cynthia.
    Cynthia: What about Jane and Blessing?
    Alice: They were having quiz
    Cynthia: Ok
    Cynthia took her ear-pot and turned it on, she started connecting to Blessing and Jane.
    Cynthia: Hello
    Blessing: Hello, Cynthia?
    Cynthia: Blessing where you dey?
    Blessing: On the way
    Cynthia: What about Jane?
    Blessing: She’s here with me
    Cynthia: That’s good, you both should come back quick.
    Blessing: Ok
    Cynthia Ended the call.
    Mary: This is serious
    Cynthia: They will also trail behind Blessing and Jane to ambush them.
    Tracy: What? (she shouted coming out from the bath room)
    Alice: What should we do?
    Cynthia: Don’t worry am on it (she disappeared, and this was the first time they will be seeing her disappear)
    Monica: Oh my God
    Alice: I didt just see that
    Mary: Chimoo
    Tracy: Haha una funny

    Jane and Blessing was rushing back to the Hostel after Cynthia asked them to come back via the ear-pot. They noticed 5 guys trailing them from behind.
    Jane: What should we do now?
    Blessing: Lets keep walking
    They increased their pace while the 5 guys also did the same, they got to a deserted area that lead to the Hostel and 5 more guys blocked their way.
    Guy1: And where are you both running to?
    Jane: And who told you we are running?
    Guy2: Then why are you both in such a hurry if you aren’t running?
    Blessing: Hey! I don’t bloody care where you all are coming from or who sent you all, but one thing is certain
    Guy3: Which is?
    Blessing: If you guys start up any nonsense, it will be bloody
    Guy4: Shut up, who’s talking about attacking you both with guns? Guys grab them.
    Jane pulled out her gun from her purse
    Jane: Any of you should try any nonsense and answer to the bullet.
    Trinity stepped forward.
    Trinity: You can pull the trigger. (he started moving towards them)
    Jane: Don’t come any close
    Trinity: Go ahead.
    Blessing pulled her own gun and started shooting at Trinity but the bullets were useless cause it didt penetrate him.
    Trinity: Now guys, take them now
    The guys were about to take them when Cynthia appeared while all the guys drew backwards.
    Trinity: Hmm, and their boss is here.
    Cynthia: Trinity, Your days in this school is numbered.
    Trinity: I should be telling you that
    Cynthia didt say any other thing rather she placed her 2 hands at Blessing and Jane.
    Cynthia: We shall see about that, (she disappeared with Blessing and Jane)
    Trinity: Guys lets leave here now (They all left that spot before the Arrival of the school Authority)

    Tracy and other guys were still waiting for Cynthia to return when Cynthia appeared with Blessing and Jane.
    Jane: Wow
    Tracy and other girls went over to where they appeared.
    Alice: So what happened?
    Blessing: We were attacked.
    Mary: Hmmm, as predicted by Cynthia here
    Jane: Guys, there is big problem
    Tracy: What’s the problem
    Jane: The cult guys are now getting more spiritual powers.
    Monica: How Do you mean?
    Blessing: Bullets can’t penetrate them now
    Tracy: Haa, no oo,, we have to do something now
    Cynthia: Hmm, is not yet all of them that have that power, is their leaders, Very soon now they will start searching for what that will be penetrating us
    Alice: But they is nothing like that nah?
    Cynthia: You can’t say yet, I don’t really know about that one for now.
    Tracy: We have to come up with something now.
    Cynthia: Am thinking

    Next Day
    Cynthia was walking back to the Hostel after that day Lecture when she came across someone who stopped her.
    Guy: Ermm, am sorry to stop you.
    Cynthia: Ok no problem, so how can I help you?
    Guy: Ermm, Am that guy you saved the other day.
    Cynthia: Am sorry, I can’t remember
    Guy: Ok no problem, I just want to thank you for that day
    Cynthia: You don’t need to thank me, is my duty and you have to thank God instead.
    Guy: I still need to thank you, atleast you allowed God to be using you in this school.
    Cynthia: Ok thanks.
    Guy: Ermm bye dear
    The Guy left while Cynthia continued her journey back to the Hostel, she got to the Hostel and went in. She was the only one that was back, she went inside the Kitchen, warmed the food while she started eating the one she dish out for herself. Suddenly she remembered the guy that approached her earlier, she was surprise and happy because the guy was the first to approach her and thank her for helping him cause most people she helps doesn’t come to thank her maybe they were scared of her. She felt bad because she didt even ask him his name to know him, she felt the urge to know him more (does it mean am falling in love?) she asked herself before she waved such thought away immediately, but it will come back to her head, She then went over to one of the couch and slept off, leaving the food she was eating in the Kitchen.

    Presh went to the Lab in search of her friend when she sighted Sparkling with him, she was surprised cause she thought they don’t talk to each other, she was about to leave when The guy sighted her and called her to join them. Presh didt know what to do but she braved up and went over to where they were sitting and sat down with them.
    Guy: Ermm, Presh, this is Sparkling, she do come here to read too, she’s in 300Level studying Biochemistry, Sparkling, this is Presh, She’s my friend and coursemate, same Medicine.
    Sparkling: Nice meeting you (she faked smile and stretched out hand towards Presh for Handshake)
    Presh: Nice meeting you too (she took the hand and they had the hand shake)
    Guy: I believe since we love coming to the Lab to read, that we will be reading together, since we are all Science. (he was with all smile while Sparkling and Presh exchanged Deadly Stair to each other without the guy notice)

    I first think about calling Benny and warning her to stay off my mum, but on a second thought I decide not to because that will make her suspect that I already know about her plans. I continued the journey full of thinking. But why is mum behaving like a kid? Why does she trust Benny this much? Has she forgotten so soon all that happened in osun?? Does she want a repeat of that???

    Thousands of questions puping out of my head at the same time. Well, I just pray stone is able to handle things on his own. About 2hrs later, I put a call through to stone.

    Me: stone what’s up, hope you guys have moved.

    Stone: yes boss we are now at your IREWOLEDE apartment.

    Me: good, please keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn’t have access to any phone or computer.

    Stone: ok boss.

    I feel relaxed after the call as we continued our journey. Last last we entered Abidjan the capital of Ivory coast. D–n! The journey was so hectic, I really need to rest.

    I was still resting in my hotel room when a call came in, it is an unknown number.

    Voice: hello mikelrado!

    I picked out the voice instantly, this is Benny definitely. And instantly I knew there is a great problem cause she sounds so devilish.

    Me: Benny?? Why calling me with an unknown number? And why are you sounding like this?

    Benny: that’s the sound of satisfaction mikelrado

    Me: satisfaction??

    Benny: remember I promised you that you will see my mum very soon?

    Me: yes.

    Benny: now is the time darling, but so bad you won’t be going alone, the person you love the most is going with you.

    Me: what’s all these you are saying Benny, I don’t understand

    Benny: will you shut the f–k up!(she shouted) oh you think you can eat your cake and still have it? Well for your info, have gat your mum here with me and you have just 24hrs to get your ass down here else you will never get the chance to see her again!

    Me: what’s all these you are talking about Benny, am still lost.

    Benny: your time starts now! ( She ends the call)

    I tried calling her back but the line has been switched off already, I tried calling her main line too same thing. All my body organs started malfunctioning instantly. I dialled stone number but the fool is not even picking up. But wait o, hope them never drop stone sha. What do I do now? I have just 24hrs which I can never meet up with through road. D–n!

    Am in deep shit right now, really need to figure out a way out of this shit. I decided to go talk to my coach, really need to head back to Nigeria ASAP. just as I stand up from my bed the hotel alarm started ringing ad a deep hard voice followed up warning everybody to stay in their room and that we should report any strange movement most especially that of a female. Watin concern me, do I really care? I have a more important issue to attend to.

    I ignore the warning and walked to the door, and just as I was about to open the door, someone pushed the door in from the other side A beautiful slender girl burst into my room, breathing heavily. Who the f–k are….. She threw a punch at me even before I could finish my statement. I expertly Dodge her punch, she followed up with a low kick and I blocked that too.

    Who the f–k are you!!!? I shouted at her. “Why don’t you come find out” she replied. She charged at me, faked me with a swift jab then followed up with a low kick immediately, I blocked the jab but the low kick caught by balls, I fell down to the floor groaning in pain. She threw another kick to my face and I managed to block it. I managed to get up from the floor (d–n! This girl is a pro, I really need to attack her like a pro too)

    Me: babe, you are messing with the wrong guy right now

    Girl: you are messing with the wrong girl too.

    She cahrged at me with too many punches that I can’t even count, I dodged the first two and blocked the 3rd but couldn’t do anything about the follow ups.( What a bad combo it was) they all caught me in the face. I fell to the wall facing it, she immediately followed up with two more blows to each side of my stomach ( now that hurts really bad).

    I could feel the taste of my blood in my mouth as the liquid started dripping out of my mouth. BULLSHIT!!! I said out loud as I faced her dashing out heavy  to her. Yes she was blocking all but the force of each blows keep pushing her back and off balance. I continued giving it to her really hard. She successfully blocked all but I could see the impact of the Blows on her as she fell to the ground and she couldn’t move her two hands that she used in blocking the blows.

    Now that’s what you get for pissing me off” I shouted at her. She managed to stand up and charged at me with a kick which I dodge. I caught her by her waist, lift her up in the air, as I smashed her back on the glass center table ( a very good suplex it was) as the table broke into pieces. She groan in pain as I lifted her up from the floor, I got behind her and I fold my arm around her neck chocking life out of her. Just then a soft knock landed on my door.

    My mouth hung open loosely, my eyes wide open. I couldn’t believe who walked into the class. He was standing in front of the class looking for where to sit, my heart had lot control, I wanted to scream too but I couldn’t find my voice.

    His blonde hair was gelled like his eyebrows, his dark blue eyes searching the class for somewhere comfortable to sit. I sighed dreamily, placing my hand under my cheek. He wasn’t that muscular but his muscles did stood out from the tank top he wore. He was more gorgeous in person.

    ‘Oomph,’ I grunted, Eira kicked my leg with a very intense glare. ‘It’s Cian!!!!’ I shrieked through our telepathic connection.

    ‘Hey we’re going to get expel!!!’ She shrieked with mock enthusiasm. ‘Don’t even think about it.’

    ‘But Cian….’

    ‘Look away Verna, I’m serious.’ I pouted and averted my eyes to my book. My crush was standing there and I couldn’t scream, no attention. How come I didn’t know he was going to attend the same college? Was he studying zoology too?

    Cian, please sit with me.

    I wanted him to sit with me. Eira and Ayanna were sitting in one seat. The big room liked like a high school classroom. I felt someone sit beside me, cries of disappointment following. I didn’t dare look, the expensive rich scent said it all. My palms had gone sweaty, really sweaty, I was going to faint soon. I raised my head and stared at Ayanna.

    ‘What?’ She mouthed with a teasing smile.

    ‘He’s sitting beside me, right?’ I asked telepathically.

    ‘Yup!’ She popped.

    ‘Can we swap seats? I can’t breathe, I’m going to faint.’ She laughed in my head.

    ‘Sis, that would only drag attention, ignore him.’

    ‘But I’ll die! I’m going to jump on him.’

    ‘Picture him as a rotten nature hater.’ Eira suggested.

    ‘Impossible, Cian cares for nature and all it creatures a lot….’

    ‘I forgot that’s the reason you are dying for him.’

    ‘You guuuuuys, not helping!’

    ‘Sit and faint.’ Gale laughed. Where did….he was listening? ‘I share a mind with you all, I can feel your communication….so your boyfriend is around, huh?’ He said jestingly
    ‘Who invited this fool.’ Eira scoffed and blocked him. The teachers already cautioned the student to their seat and made them shut up but their eyes never left Cian who had his headphone on by the way.

    ‘Picture him as a cabbage.’

    ‘Ayanna, how does that help?!’ I exclaimed distraughtly. His hand accidentally brushed mine when he bent to pick his pen. ‘I’m about to faint, I can’t do this!’ I stood up abruptly.

    ‘Verna don’t….’

    ‘Would you prefer I jump him?’ I snapped.

    ‘Did you just snap?’ Ayanna asked quizzically. I scoffed, packed my things and went to sit with the dude behind Ayanna, he looked weird. ‘Wanna switch?’ She asked out loud.

    ‘Please,’ she stood up and packed her things which was just her phone and drumsticks. I moved out of the way, knowing how stupid she was. Like I predicted, she jumped over the table to the chair. I sighed and made myself comfortable with Eira.

    ‘Hola hola trouble,’ she sang. ‘Seeker seeker trouble.’ She glared at me. I pushed her face away, Ayanna laughed and hit my head with the drumsticks.

    ‘He’s staring at you and he’s like….’
    ‘Oh My God!’ They exclaimed teasingly, in my head that is.
    I’m in trouble.

    Cian
    I hated returning to school but dad caused it.. I wanted to study zoology but he insisted I followed the family tradition and study the course he chose first before I could study mine. After graduating, I was back in college to study what I really wanted.

    ‘I hate this,’ I complained as we walked into the school. We were five, a boy group called the Jacksons. We were all related so we all had to follow tradition. Dwane, the eldest didn’t really follow, he just came to have fun and screw girls.

    ‘Don’t worry, it’ll be over in no time.’ Toby, younger twin of Terence, leader of the group said assuredly. He’s the quiet one.
    ‘Especially when you think of the ladies you’ll be enjoying.’ Terence grinned rubbing his palms together.

    ‘Fuck you.’ I walked out on them, their annoyance wasn’t something I needed. Girls screamed after me, many trying to get pass the bodyguards but failing. I easily located the first class, it sucked. Everyone was screaming this and that while I searched for where to sit.

    I tilted my head when my eyes stopped at a brown haired girl with golden eyes. She was dressed like a tomboy and sitting beside a girl with dyed white hair. They were beautiful in a strange alluring kind of way, one I couldn’t just place my finger on. She was staring at someone, I trailed her gaze to another yet enchanting girl. Her bright green eyes was the first thing that captured my attention then her golden blonde hair.

    She looked away from the white haired and faced her book. My feet moved on their own, I walked to her chair and joined her.

    Her body stiffened momentarily, I was expecting her to react but she didn’t seem to care. I shrugged, removing my mind from her and bringing out my iPad. The pen fell, I sighed and bent down to pick it but my hand accidentally brushed against her smooth skin. She flinched a little and the next thing she did was stand up and move to another seat. It left me awestruck.
    She stood up?

    For the rest of the lesson, I remained in shock, even as I found my way to the next class in another faculty building. I found a lonely seat to occupy, mind still dazed from the fact that a girl ignored me. I perceived her earlier flowery scent, it was like all flowers came from her scent in very complicated way.

    ‘Can I sit?’ She asked calmly, she was standing three rolls away from mine. Her voice was melodious, in a way I couldn’t just wrap my head on.

    ‘Sorry, my boyfriend is going to sit here and we don’t want intruders.’ The stupid rude girl sneered. The golden blonde bit her lower lip, her eyes averting to me. I looked around, my seat was the only empty one left.

    ‘Thank you,’ she murmured, turned and walked out of the class. Did I do anything to her? Was she one of my accidental one nightstands?

    I have to find out.

    Being a Jackson was really cool. The fame, the adoration, the ladies, the money and my amazing band mates. My dad was Dennis Jackson, first son of the Jackson family. Our family was there richest, the fame and powers was already high enough, let alone we were singers.

    My mom was a top actress, scriptwriter and producer, Rexella Jonah Jackson. She made it easier for us to be popular, she was nice and loved. She ad me and Toby.
    Cian was next, his dad was the immediate younger brother of dad, his dad was a legendary rapper and his mother a model. Cian had more singing experience than all of us, wrote the songs himself but he let me be the leader. He was very good with rhythm guitar and keyboard. He was quite calm, didn’t talk much or bothered himself about him and was too nice and nature loving.

    He’s annoying.

    Dwayne, a food sucker and mad drummer. Puss freak, stupid and lavishes money like it has no end. His dad was my dad’s younger twin brother, rich too but just like his son only that he’s nicer and almost mannered. Dwayne is as rude as hell, arrogant bastard. I still love him though.

    Ross, gentle, soft and really emotional. He was really pampered to girlishness and is the youngest amongst us. He’s fucking intelligent! A braniac! A computer wizard and a fantastic painter. He was very good at art, so good he could paint and sculpt with his eyes closed. He was a keyboardist, my dad’s father’s brother’s son’s son.

    I’m confusing you right?

    Think it yourself.

    Last was my shy twin Toby. He was only bold on stage but if left alone, could be bullied. He’s very quiet, barely spoke but when he did, you’ll think a wise old man did. He knew how to play a lead guitar better than anyone I know, wrote songs few times and had a very light singing voice. I love him a lot, he was my everything.

    Without him, I was nothing.

    ‘So you’re trying to tell us that some chick ignored you?’ Dwayne asked unbelievably, it was hard to believe a girl would ignore him. They could ignore Ross, Dwayne because he’s a jerk but not Cian, Toby and I. ‘What did you so to her?’

    ‘I don’t know.’ Cian said in absent mindedly. ‘She saw me and walked away….maybe I’d slept with her before…..’

    ‘Or maybe she don’t just like you,’ Toby cut in softly. ‘Not all girls are the way you see them, some are good different, better than others.
     Because she snubbed you doesn’t mean you should work yourself up about it.’. See what I mean about wise? He was the cutest, looked like a teenager when he was older than Ross.

    Dwayne was the eldest, he had black hair and eyes and was half Korean. His mom was Korean. He looked older than his age and was stupid like I said earlier.

    ‘I know but I just can’t get my mind off her. She’s just….’ Cian inhaled deeply. ‘Beautiful.’

    ‘Rubbish! The only thing pretty about girls are their holes!’ Dwayne exclaimed.
    ‘I agreed.’ I acknowledged.
    ‘All girls are for fuck sake. Find her, pay her and satisfy yourself….’

    ‘I swear on grandfather’s grave, I’ll forget my fist in your face.’ Cian growled.

    ‘Dwayne shut up before you get punched to unconsciousness again.’ Ross said sharply as he pulled Cian back.

    ‘Did you say she’s blonde as in golden blonde with bright green eyes and moves around with two girls?’ Toby asked questionably.

    ‘Yeah, one with white hair and the other with brown and golden eyes.’

    ‘Wooooooooow!’ Toby exclaimed exaggeratedly. I trailed his eyes to the girls walking to table in the cafeteria.

    ‘Holy god of hotness!’ Dwayne and I exclaimed.

    The rays of sunlight hit my eyelids as I felt lazy to open my eyes
    I opened my eyes slowly as I still felt dizzy…
    I looked around as I noticed an unfamiliar environment.

    I shake up my hand as I looked at him

    He asked in surprise
    I nodded my head as he jumped into me in happiness
    I hugged him back

    He screamed out as others came rushing at me..
    “Hye Ji, how are you?”
    “Bby I missed you!”

    Voice of Hyun Jung’s son
    “Are you okay daughter?”
    Mr Lee came rushing towards me
    “I’m…I’m fin..fine”
    I stammered
    “Hye Ji, I love you and I’m sorry!”
    Mr Kim said facing me
    “You just realized that?”
    I asked in tears
    “I’m just so sorry, you’re innocent!”
    He said whipping tears off my face
    “It’s okay!”
    I smiled
    “Hye Ji, how are you?”
    Hyun Jung asked smiling
    “I’m fine sweetie”
    I said holding her son’s hand
    Something immediately came into my mind as I changed my expression
    “Mr Kim?”
    I called looking deeply into his eyes
    “Yes dear”
    “How many days have I been here?”
    I asked impatiently
    “Over two weeks dear”
    He said as I almost screamed out
    “Oh my!”
    I started crying
    “What’s wrong?”
    Everyone surrounded me asking if all is well
    “Mr Kim, your mum! I’m sorry but go to Chamnamdoeng! She must be waiting!!”
    I said holding his hand
    “My what?”
    He asked shocked

    Mr Lee said convincing him

    “I’ll explain everything but please go before it’s late”
    He stood up immediately as he hugged me

    He gave me a peck on my cheeks before walking out..”

    I smiled Sheepishly to everyone though I was fucking worried…

    I walked into the restaurant as I know that’s the only place that has that name

    Oh God!
    There was a lot of people in so I couldn’t get to see her quickly
    I’ve made up my mind not to accept mum anymore..
    She left me..
    I just wanna catch a glimpse of her face then turn away…

    I was about to get to a waitress as I heard my name…

    My head got stuck at that voice!

    Cynthia: I heard many people fetching water and Discussing about their Lovers and the Police station that were discussing on the station and many other things.
    Ogeri: The Stream of this Village is very far from here and the Police station is also very far from here almost at the major road, this is a good improvement.
    Cynthia: Will I be able to revise those people I made to vomit Blood?

    Tracy just smiled before she sat down on the Chair there and started thinking where Cynthia must have gone. She was still thinking when Alice and other girls came out from the Kitchen with plates of food, they dropped it on the floor and dragged Tracy to the floor and they started eating together.

    Gallant was still thinking when nature took over her and she slept off, she later woke up from a tap from someone, she looked up and saw is Sparkling.

    They came down while Sparkling lead the way and they walked over to a deserted place, they walked through a small pathway that lead them straight to the Shrine of a Herbalist.
    Sparkling: We are here (she said immediately they got to the shrine, they were about to step into the shrine when the Herbalist shouted at them from inside)
    Herbalist: Taaa!!!, Remove your Shoes before stepping into the holy shine.
    They quickly did as he said before they were allowed to go into the shrine.

    Carpon: You all have heard what happened to the Viking and Viqueens when they attacked the Anti-cult of just 6 cause their leader wasn’t there but instead of the Vikings and Viqueens to wipe them out entirely they dealt with the Vikings and Viqueens that left some of them dead and some of them in a confused state, so you all know that their next target will be us, so we have to do something now before they get to us.
    Trinity: Boss, you have spoken well, I also wanted to talk about this before you called for this meeting, well I heard they were using Black Magic that’s where they were not defeated at all. So I suggest we the Executives to find a solution now, if is getting a black magic also, we should do that to protect ourselves.
    Danger: That’s right, that’s what we should do.
    Carpon: So do you people have anywhere in Mind?
    Danger: Yes
    Carpon: And where is that?
    Danger: Is somewhere in the North, is called Oyi Shrine

    Cynthia and Ogeri appeared back infront of Ogeri compound.

    Cynthia: I will ma, I will be going now cause they will be worried by now

    Cynthia hugged her before she went inside the car and drove off back to Enugu.
    She drove for 1 hour and some minutes when she got to a check point that is between Abakaliki and Enugu Highway when the Policemen there stopped her.
    Policeman: Madam, where is your papers?
    Cynthia brought out all the papers and gave it to him and he checked it before he gave it to her.
    Policeman: Open your butt
    Cynthia did as he instructed, she pressed a button on the car and the butt opened while the Policeman scaled through it but didt see anything to extract money from Cynthia. He closed back the butt for her while Cynthia kicked on the engine to drive away when the policeman stopped her.
    Policeman: Oh, I haven’t asked you to go and you are about to go oya come down.
    Cynthia: But you have checked me, what else do you want?
    Policeman: Come down joor
    She did as he said and he asked her to go and see their boss across the road.
    Cynthia didt like that kind of useless treatment from the Police, cause she has been hearing their brutality, she used her eyes to control their Leader there and he came forth.
    Leader: What is wrong here?
    Cynthia: Is it not your boys, they have checked me finish and found nothing and now his asking me out of the car, is it fair?
    Leader: So Sergeant, your this cruel to this beautiful Lady, are you stupid?

    The Sergeant left there immediately while he now faced where Cynthia was.

    She went into her car and drove off before the spell she cast on the Policeman Leader left him.

    Their Leader didt understand what was going as he went inside the police Hilux and slept off.

    Cynthia got to the Hostel and parked the car, she came down from the car and walked into the hostel. She knocked at the door while Alice came and opened the door for her and she came in.
    Alice: Babe, where you go?
    Cynthia: Went somewhere joor
    Alice: You must tell me oo
    Cynthia: Come carry me nah
    (she was walking into the sitting room where other girls were, when they saw her, they all went over to where she was.
    Tracy: Babe, where you go?
    Cynthia: Ok make una no kill me, I go see Ogeri
    Mary: Yes oo,, wetin she talk?
    Cynthia: Many things
    Monica: Tell us nah
    Cynthia: Make una give me food first, cause am very hungry now
    Blessing: Jane go and get her something to eat

    Jane walked over to the kitchen and dish out food for Cynthia, when she was done eating, they still gathered round her for her to tell them how far her journey and Cynthia took her time telling them how she went and everything that she has learnt from Ogeri, they were happy cause they felt more secured unlike before.

    Queen Ziza: Were you deaf when I said I can’t cure what I don’t know? You brought this on yourself after I told you not to interfere but you paid deaf ears to my warnings Amara.

    Queen Amara: Please help me now, I am begging you, I am your daughter.

    Queen Ziza: I know you are my daughter (She closes her eyes and opens it after a minute has passed.) There is nothing I can do to help you Amara but the only thing I can help you with is for you to come back home and admit your failure to our people. Jidenna is whole again and so is Cheta, return home and save your face. Then I will see what I can do for whatever it is Amadioha may have placed on you.

    Queen Amara: (Not knowing what to do nod her head like agama lizard, still breathing heavily.) Thank you mother, I will have to go back to Ofordili Palace and get my things and calabash and come back here.

    Queen Ziza: I would have said you should leave that and follow me Amara but you must get the calabash it is very important.

    Queen Amara: I know mother I will be back before you know it.

    Quee  Ziza: Amara, you better be fast about it because delay is dangerous.

    (Queen Amara disappeared leaving her mother in the forest who disappeared afterwards.)

    Cheta broke into a run and ran back to their midst.

    Cheta: (In great happiness as she stares only on Ikenga.) Ikenga take a good look at my face, my scars are gone. They are gone and no more on my face. I look beautiful for the first time in my life.

    Ikenga: (Smiling) Didn’t I tell you that you are beautiful when we met?

     Cheta: Yes you did but I didn’t believe you until you told me of the enchanter. (Her smile widened more) you’ve seen whoever that casted it, right?

    Ikenga: (Smiling) Hmmm, probably, but you are not the only one who got healed, turn around and look behind you to see for yourself.

    Cheta: (Doing as Ikenga said, she turned around and her eyes met her father shock ones, then moved to Adapuruche bewilderment ones and finally, finally her gaze landed on Jidenna. Her eyes widened in surprise when she regards Jidenna from head to his toes.) Jidenna! Am I dreaming or not? Are you healed?

    Jidenna: Cheta Nwanne mu, I am now healed. (Cheta gave a loud shout of joy and ran into Jidenna’s awaiting open arms and embraced her brother.)

    Cheta: (When they release the tight hold on each other, Cheta beamed in happiness) Thank the gods you are alright now, which means my mother was innocent of the crime laid on her years back.

    Jidenna: She is Cheta.

    Igwe Ofordili: How do you mean Queen Amaka is innocent? Didn’t you eat from the food she gave to you?

    Jidenna: I did but the one who had turned me into an Imbecile and and made my sister, Cheta ugly is no other than my mother, Queen Amara. (The maids, palace guards and Igwe Ofordili exclaimed loudly in a surprised tone. Everyone was shocked except Adapuruche. Jidenna continues.) She normally comes to my hut and takes some of my blood which I don’t know what she uses it for.(he showed his father the knife marks on his arms and continues.) The last one she did was to come into my hut today and cut off my little toe. (He showed his father his legs that were missing a toe.) With all this evidence I believe mother would be the one to have afflicted Cheta with those ugly scars and made me imbecile.

    Igwe Ofordili: This is unbelievable, I can’t believe my own wife would do such a thing to Cheta and to her own son, my son.

    Ikenga: Igwe, to be truthfully, it was indeed your wife who had given my beautiful Cheta her ugly face and made your son Jidenna imbecile. To be more Frank with you Igwe, your wife, the Queen of Ogidi village was the one who had summoned the beast that I had killed and brought to you.

    (At that moment Queen Amara appeared in her hut.)

    Igwe Ofordili: (To Ebuka) Go and call me Amara right now.

    Bird Kingdom:

    Nganga: Shouldn’t it be the right time for us to make our appearance known to them my daughter?

    Queen Amaka: You are so correct mother, let’s pay a visit to Ofordili.

    (They both changed into a white eagle and flew away.)
    Agwusi: (Who was watching what was happening in the Palace of Igwe Ofordili and turned to look at the man who was standing beside him and watching the whole drama.) Cheta has regain her beauty my friend

    Ekwensu: I know Agwusi, you will bring Ikenga and Cheta to me.

    Agwusi: You’ve forgotten Amadioha my friend, Ikenga will bring him along when he comes for his marriage.

    Ekwensu: Let’s wait till then, I have these strange feelings that something will happen that day.

    I followed Ladi’s car without him knowing. The cab man was very helpful. He was a fine young man, who speaks very fluently.

    He asked me why I was going after the man in front? I wanted to angrily shout at him to do his work which I was paying him to do but instead I try to tell him nicely that the man we were following was my husband and we have been married for over twelve years now and blessed with three children. I suspect he might have a child from another woman but kept it away from me and I’m about to find out how true this was.

    I said and prayed that is not true. I hope that all that Salami has been telling me about Ladi is never true.

    I hope Ladi did not have another woman outside home or even a child. That will be the worst thing that will ever happen to me.

    My husband is not a womanizer or capable of fathering another child but with what I heard this morning over the phone, I was shaking inside and determined to get to the root of it.

    The cab young man was very understandable, he said some men are ingrates and do not appreciate the woman they have at home. He was not in support of such and was ready to help me get to the end of it.

    I thanked him for understanding as we proceed.

    Ladi kept turning from corner to corner, he drove so fast and later stopped at an eatery, I guess he wanted to buy food. I remember the lady saying that Ladi should buy her some food because the one he bought the last time has finished.

    We parked at a distance waiting for him to come out of the fast-food. After sometime he came out with packs of food and entered the road again.

    My cab driver who I later found out his name was Zuma followed. He kept his distance so that Ladi will not see the cab and start suspecting but he made sure he remain on track.

    Ladi later got to a gate and drove inside and the gate was closed back.

    I wanted to come down from the cab and go straight to the gate but it doesn’t seem wise.

    I waited inside the cab for two hours but Ladi did not come out. I asked the cab man to take me to my husband’s plaza. I gave him the address and he drove to the place.

    I went straight to his first shop and met only two of his worker, the whole place was looking scanty and dry. Ladi’s shop used to be full to the brim. He has a big warehouse and three shops that he had nothing less than four workers each.

    The whole place was owned by him and he was popular too. Is has been a long time I came around here and some of the workers knows me and greeted me kindly.

    As I was looking round the place, I heard one of the old staff, Wasiu whisper to a young boy whose face was new to me.

    “Arrange the materials in order, they are scattered. You know the main madam is here….

    The second boy whispered back to him

    “I thought the madam that use to come here with a baby was the main madam? How many wife does our boss has?

    I pretend as if I wasn’t listening while looking round, close to where they work.

    Only two of Ladi’s shops was remaining. The third one is closed down and some workers who were well paid then has to leave after my husband reduced their wages.

    I called Wasiu who stayed despite how his wage was slashed, I asked him to trust me and he won’t get into trouble.

    I asked him how the shop was doing and he said business was not as it used to be which was why my husband closed the first shop and left only two and very soon it will be only one shop remaining if he did not do something about it soon.

    I asked him about the other madam who has a baby and he told me that all he knows was that the small madam used to visit Ladi even before she became pregnant and had a baby. He also learnt that Ladi did small wedding with her secretly after she insisted on getting married to him. He also opened a shop for her and she is selling almost the same thing that I sell. The only difference was that her own was gotten locally and it was all African fabrics while mine was mixed with both foreign and African fabrics.

    Wasiu pointed to me where her shop was located, which was not far from Ladi’s office. And she also have two sales girls.

    Wasiu told me what I need to know and even more. I thanked him with a tips as he went back to work.

    I strolled down to the lady’s shop to see for myself. Now I see why Ladi is always asking for money to boost his business. She is the main reason Ladi’s business was going down.

    As I was about to leave I saw Ladi’s car driving into the plaza.

    I followed another route and went straight to the cab man who was patiently waiting. We drove off. This was five hours later that Ladi returned from the woman’s place.

    I was going to go crazy but I need my sane my mind to keep going.

    I called Salami over the phone but she did not respond. I called her upto four times and she later answered, I asked her if she can come over to my shop or I should come over to hers and she said I should come over to her house because she was home.

    Zuma took me to Salami’s home. I thanked him for touring the whole place with me all through the day. I paid him for his time, he was very considerate and did not charge much for his service. He gave me his mobile number in case I need a ride to anywhere.

    He try to advise me to take things easy and I nodded.

    My heart beat was increasing with every realization that my worst fear was coming to light.

    I told Salami that she was right all this while. I apologists first for not listening to her, for insulting and calling her bad friend.

    “I knew is just a matter of time and you will come to know the truth. My happiness is that you have found out the truth.

    I try to talk but all through the day I have been holding on to my emotions, I didn’t want to release it inside the cab. Although I kept wiping tears with a pieces quietly and did not let anyone to know what I was going through inwardly.

    Emotions wailed up at my chest and I felt like screaming down the roof in anguish.

    As I was about to think on why Ladi will do such a thing to me, I broke down in tears front of salami.

    I wept and allowed the tears to keep pouring down.

    Salami was trying to console me but I was inconsolable.

    “Why…how….? Salami, I have try to understand the fact that this whole thing is actually real and not a bad night mare. The anger, fear and trauma at the realization that Ladi have another family outside our home makes me want to die. He told me he doesn’t want another child, that three was enough for him, he told me he doesn’t have all it takes for a fourth child. I pleaded, I begged Danladi to allow my baby to live but he refused. You encouraged me and even take me to the place the deed was done so that my husband will be pleased. I kill my child to please my husband and not knowing another woman was pregnant for him at same time and mine was good to be sacrificed. It won’t be so painful right now if Ladi has allowed me to carry the pregnancy and give birth to my baby…the hurt alone is too heavy to bear. The pain wouldn’t have been this hurting if my baby was alive and I later found out that Ladi also has another child outside home. But my husband…my loving husband deceived me, he killed my child for the sake of another woman’s peace who was pregnant for him. Oh Salami…where did I go wrong? How did I miss it…why did I even chose to listen to my husband and abort my child? why…why…just tell me why will Ladi do this to me?

    I wept so bitterly holding my stomach and wishing I have not aborted my child, wishing I have known better, wishing everything happening now was not true.

    “Miwa, I’m so sorry! If I knew that Ladi was capable of such evil, I will never have encouraged you to abort the child. I thought he was a man of honor and was not interested in another child. I regret when I found out that he was having an affair. It hurt…so badly but you have to be strong and take heart. Your children needs you. Please Miwa you have to wipe your tears and be strong…
    I did wipe my eyes as evening approached, I went home to wait for Ladi to come back.

    Salami dropped me off at home and gave another round of encouraging words.

    My kids were home. I went to the bathroom and sat crying my eyes out until my elder child called out to me, asking if I was alright.

    I freshened up and came out. I asked them to eat the available food and go to bed because I was not in the mood to cook anything.
    They did and went to bed.

    I sat on the dining looking back to the past at where I have come all the way from with Ladi and still trying to understand the height of his wickedness. Why he will do such evil to me.

    I couldn’t place any reason to it or come in term with the fact that Ladi actually have a child who would have been my aborted baby’s age mate. Ladi killed my child and has succeeded in hurting me beyond repair.

    I sat alone thinking and waiting for Danladi to return.

    I was almost going crazy with every passing minutes while staring at the wall clock.

    Tears kept rolling down my face until my eyes was all swollen up.

    I ran into school holding my backpack straps, I was running to catch up with my friends, they called me out on emergency. I sighted them heaving at my locker, chattering loudly to things I don’t care to know.
    ‘Hey girls!’ I shrieked.
    ‘Ashley!!!!’ They shrieked too, they ran to me like a deer stampede and enfolded me in a hug.
    ‘You guys, what did we discuss about hugging the life out of me.’ I gasped. They giggled and let me go. I adjusted my dress and smiled, they were my friends in school, I was the most popular and beautiful girl in Midway High. Only one of them was my real best friend, right from childhood. The rest were either from junior high and senior high.
    I’m popular you know.
    ‘So what do you have for me?’ I asked cocking my hips.
    ‘You missed Carter’s party, it was intense!’ Evarone squealed, she was the party lover, they all were. They were 12 in total, I can only remember the names of 6.
    ‘Why didn’t you show up? He was very disappointed.’
    ‘I’ve told you guys, I can’t attend parties, my brothers forbids me after what happened the other time.’ My very best friend, Samantha came out of the crowd and took my hand.
    ‘Ignore them, they won’t listen even if you preach over a million times.’
    ‘We’re late for class, hurry.’ One of the girls that was reasonable and whose name I don’t remember, said coolly.
    Now who am I? My name’s Ashley, Ashley Mimi Steinberg. I’m an eighteen years old teen in her senior year. I live with my parents, they are workaholics but they love me a lot. I also have three older brothers who loves me more than anything else in the world. Earl, he works with dad, has his own house and wife but can’t stay away from mom’s kitchen. Dean, never comes home because he believes his parents’ workaholic attitude sucks, but he do check on me and finally, the very best among them, the one I love most in my life and not in the brotherly way, Angus.
    He’s a college student, pretty tall with thick curly somewhat brown and black hair and sparkly green eyes. I know I shouldn’t be having such feelings for my own brother but I just couldn’t help it, he was more than a brother to me yet I had to keep it in mind that my feelings was an abomination.
    ‘So how’s your brother?’ Mantha as she insists we call her ask warmly, she was the only one that knew about my feelings and talked senses into my head.
    ‘I have three, which one?’
    ‘Ash, you know who I’m talking about,’ she drawled and rolled her eyes. I laughed and gave her a thumbs up. ‘So, I’ll presume you were up all-night chatting with him?’ I bowed my head sheepishly. I tilted my head closer to her ear and whispered.
    ‘I convinced him to send me a photo of his abs, he did and that was what kept me up all-night.’ She giggled and covered my face, she sighed. ‘He has gotten nicer abs, so hot!’ I fanned myself dreamily.
    ‘Ash, remember who he is to you,’ she whispered with a gentle nudge at my side. ‘Get a hold of yourself.’
    ‘I know but I just can’t help it, he’s…’
    ‘I know but remember.’ She concluded as we walked into class. The painful reality I’d have to live with.
    Later in science class, the teacher was teaching us how to turn liquid to solid and back to liquid, like we haven’t learnt that before. A paper hit my head, I knew who it was without asking. I sighed, picked up the paper, opened it and read the expected content.
    “Why weren’t you at my party last night?!” I squeezed it and threw it away. I was tired of explaining. One time during the period Angus came for summer break, I was invited to a pool party, it was an epic one but I got drunk and almost raped by a group of guys from another school. Good thing Angus came on time, he said instinct told him to come drag me home so viola! He saved me and since then, my brothers threatened to cut off my legs if I dare attend any party.
    I’m too obedient to disobey.
    Another paper hit my head. I puffed and threw it away. Three more papers hit my head before he gave up.
    After class, I packed up my books to run before he came but I was too late.
    ‘Why were you ignoring my messages?’ He snapped. I sighed and sat down. Mantha smiled and hurried out of the class. ‘Answer me Ashley.’
    ‘I’ve told you times without number, my brothers forbid I attend any party until I turn 22.’
    ‘What are you, 4!’
    ‘They are looking out for me like good brothers do,’ I murmured, I hate public fight, the students were already staring. In case I didn’t mention, Carter was my boyfriend.
    ‘They are not your dads! Why control your life this way!’
    ‘If my real dad got to know the reason why they forbid me, I’ll be grounded for life.’ I said with a tired sigh.
    ‘Just hear yourself, they are not around to control you but you use them as an excuse all the time….’
    ‘If you weren’t busy fucking my ex friend in a closet at Sanjay’s pool party, I wouldn’t have gotten in trouble!’ I snapped. ‘If you’d been with me, my brother wouldn’t have caught me in a pretty bad situation.’ He kept shut. ‘I’ve forgiven you all the times you cheated but don’t tell me how to…..’
    ‘Ashley! Ashley!’ Samantha yelled running into the class. I knew what she was up to, she pushed Carter aside and grabbed my wrist. ‘You have to come with me! You so gotta see this, Maribelle is trying to twerk!’
    ‘You don’t say!’ I squealed playing along. I grabbed my backpack and ran out with her, a big ouch to him but I didn’t really care. ‘Thanks for the save Sam, you’ll always be my lifesaver.’
    ‘Yeah I know,’ she said smugly. ‘That’s my job.’ We giggled and ran before he decided to chase me.

    I walked into the kitchen dog tired, being the captain of the cheersquads and drama president is hard, especially for a lazy girl like myself. As usual, Earl was eating my lunch for me.
    ‘Good afternoon brother,’ I said chucklingly. ‘Having lunch?’
    ‘Sorry, I borrowed your food, I’ll pay you back.’
    ‘You’re always paying me back, you’ve been paying me back since I was 10.’
    ‘I bride you, don’t I?’ I rolled my eyes and went to the fridge.
    ‘You know you have a wife, don’t you?’
    ‘Yes, why?’
    ‘Why can’t you eat her food instead of mine?’
    ‘Nothing, I prefer your cooking, I always have.’
    ‘Earl, what’s up? You know you can talk to me, right?’ I asked sticking my head into the fridge, I picked out a strawberry syrup and pickles.
    ‘I know, I just prefer your cooking, plus, Elma cooks like mom.’
    ‘Ew! That’s disgusting! Why didn’t you mention it earlier? Didn’t you know this before marrying her?’
    ‘I didn’t marry her for her cooking, I married her because she has big breasts…’
    ‘Earl!’
    ‘Whaaaaaat? It’s true,’ he whined. ‘I like ladies with big breasts and Elma have the biggest I’ve seen so far, you should see me in action, it’s like the battle of the fittest. Suck or be sucked.’ I laughed and shook my head.
    ‘You’re very stupid,’ he shrugged and continued licking the plate. ‘So what if her boobs transforms to slippersaurus?’
    ‘Then I change over, there’s a word called divorcology, duh.’ I laughed and shook my head again walking to the bread freezer. Mom’s idea, mom and Angus are bread lovers.
    ‘You can’t just change women like that, why did you marry her if you don’t love her?’
    ‘She refused to let me touch her breasts so I married her, it’s been four months so in three more months, I’ll divorce her and marry another girl with bigger boobs or ass….nay, ass is all poop and no….’
    ‘How old are you again?’
    ‘I can’t remember.’ He said grinningly. I laughed, poor girl, he would really divorce her.
    ‘You’re pathetic. I pity the girl you’ll fall in love with.’
    ‘Will, that’s future tense so when that time comes, I’ll change if God put a padlock on my zippers,’ he shrugged, I rolled my eyes. ‘Like that pretty boyfriend of yours would be enjoying your booty and booby, you’re full work, only hipless.’ I rolled my eyes.
    ‘I’m a virgin, foolish man.’
    ‘I know, that’s why I’m taunting you but if you dare lose it to that goat, I’ll shave your eyebrows and pin you to the sun….’
    ‘That’s not a…..’
    ‘Don’t argue with the gods, I’ve spoken. Now do what girls do and beautify yourself, you’re going to pick up your second boyfriend from the airport.’ I gasped and shrieked excitedly, he called Angus my second boyfriend.

    Nganga: Impossible, my granddaughter can’t fall in love with Ikenga not after what he did to me in the past.
    Amadioha: You shouldn’t allow the past to interfere with the present Nganga. You didn’t know that Ikenga and your granddaughter would fall in love with each other likewise Ikenga. I will say you should let bygones be bygones and allow them.
    Nganga: That is none of my business Amadioha, I won’t allow my granddaughter to fall in love with your brother, mbanu (no).
    Amadioha: You should know that no mountain in the world can stop the river from flowing, what is written can’t be changed Nganga.
    Nganga: You have forgotten Amadioha that even a thousand branches cannot stop the wind from blowing. She won’t end up with Ikenga and that’s my final say.
    Amadioha: You shouldn’t start what you can’t finish Nganga. He has the backing of all his brothers, you should remember that always.
    Nganga: (Smiling) Oh I always start what I know I will finish. Ohia woro gi nku, sere gi onu – The forest that denies you firewood has massaged your neck.
    Amadioha: (Smiling back at her) Si kele onye nti chiri; enu anughi, ala anu- Salute the deaf; if the heavens don’t hear, the earth will hear. I shall take my leave now Nganga.
    Nganga: Agwo emeghi nke o jiri buru agwo, umuaka achiri ya hie nku- If a snake fails to show its venom, little kids will use it in tying firewood, deliver my message to Ikenga. I refuse him.
    Amadioha: Ugo chara acha adi(ghi) echu echu- A mature eagle feather will ever remain pure. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. (He disappeared together with his chair.)
    Cheta: (A distance away from the old hunter hut) Did you see his face when he came back?
    Ikenga: Yes, he was surprised that we could actually finished the yam in few minutes. Something about that old man is fishy, I doubt if he is even a Hunter.
    Cheta: What if he knows about you, you know being a god?
    Ikenga: I don’t think so but if he knows why then is he pretending? I will have to find out, ever since last night when he magically entered my hut I have been suspicious of him and also when I personally know there was no yam in that compound.
    Cheta: Anyway let’s forget about the old man, you wanted to tell me about my mother before the old man came.
    Ikenga: (Smiling) Yes, your mother isn’t a mortal like everyone had thought.
    Cheta: (Shocked) What are you trying to say?
    Ikenga: That bird you told me came and took your mother away years ago was actually her people. She is from the bird Kingdom where eagle rule.
    Cheta: (Surprised) How did you know this?
    Ikenga: I know your grandmother but never thought she has a daughter who left her kingdom to dwell in the land of the mortals. But thank the gods she did because you wouldn’t have been born and you wouldn’t have met me to set me free if she hasn’t come to dwell with the mortals. So I owe your mother a lot.
    Cheta: I have a grandmother and my mother is a bird?
    Ikenga: Not just any bird but an eagle Cheta. Your grandmother and I don’t follow one path, we have bad history together, very bad.
    Cheta: And why Is that?
    Ikenga: (By now they were almost reaching the palace) it’s a long story my maiden.
    Cheta: And I am all ears my love.
    Ikenga: Some years ago- (he stopped when the strike of thunder was seen across the bright sky.)
    Cheta: (Staring at the sky and at Ikenga.) What is the problem? Is it going to rain?
    Ikenga: (Staring at the thunder and lightning across the sky) No it’s not going to rain, I am being summoned by my brother, I think it’s an emergency. I will see you tomorrow morning my maiden.
    Cheta: Okay, I will be expecting you my love. (Ikenga looked at the sky and return his gaze at Cheta. He quickly pull Cheta to his body and crush his lips on hers, kissing her like his life depends on it. Another stroke of thunder sounded and that separated them.)
    Ikenga: (Seeing Cheta’s shock expression he smiled and peck her cheeks lovely.) Sorry for that Cheta but I couldn’t hold myself anymore. I will see you tomorrow morning, and I love you. (He left her and ran back until he was out of her sight, he disappeared once he was sure he was alone. Cheta was speechless and touched her lips. Did Ikenga just kissed and peck her? Didn’t he feel disgusted? A beautiful smile suddenly emerged and spread across her lips. Like her brother Jidenna usually tell her, she is not ugly.)
    Cheta: (Touching her whole face and finally her lips, she started her walk towards the Palace) Oh yes, I am not Ugly.
    Ikenga appearing before his brother Amadioha and noticed he was alone.
    Ikenga: You summon me brother, I hope all is well?
    Amadioha: All is not well Ikenga, I visited Nganga to tell her of your relationship you have with her granddaughter.
    Ikenga: (Anxiously) And what did Nganga say?
    Amadioha: (He closed the distance between them and touched Ikenga’s shoulder with his right hand) She doesn’t want to see you with her granddaughter, she rejected my proposal of you being with your maiden.
    Ikenga: Then I will visit her myself and have a talk with her, she will probably see reason.
    Amadioha: She want you to apologize to her.
    Ikenga: (Getting angry) But she was the first offender and not me. I only challenge her because of what she did.
    Amadioha: For you to get your maiden Ikenga, you have to do as she has said, apologize to her and have your Cheta.
    Ikenga: I have heard you brother, I will go back and think about it. Thank you for your help. (He disappeared.)
    By midnight the big egg appeared once again and cracked open. The hideous scary beast emerged from it and started walking like a zombie towards another path where it leads to various huts.
    Ikenga was asleep when he felt the presence of the old man with another person in his hut.
    He felt a hand hovering around his face and caught hold of it surprising the intruders.
    Opening his eyes as he adjusted to the darkness in his hut, he thought he had the oil lamp running.
    Ikenga: (Seeing the old hunter didn’t shock him but the person standing next to the old hunter.) Agwusi is that really you or am I dreaming?
    Seeing the quick glance Agwusi shared with the old hunter before turning back to look at him.
    Agwusi: Yes it’s me brother.
    Ikenga: (Sitting upright and getting out of the bamboo bed, he hugged Agwusi) I am so happy to see you, my other brothers won’t believe it when I tell them you came here. It’s been a long time since we last saw each other.
    Agwusi: (Forcing himself to return the hug as he came up with another plan) Yes Ikenga. I have missed you and the rest of my brothers.
    Ikenga: (Dispatch himself from the hug) So what brings you here?
    Agwusi: I came here to tell you that Amadioha wants your maiden.
    Ikenga: (Surprised) Amadioha wants my maiden? You lie
    Agwusi: Do you think I will appear to you just to tell you a lie Ikenga? You know me too well.
    Ikenga: I don’t believe this one a bit.
    Agwusi: (Raising one of his eyebrows) But will you believe this (He waved his hands in the air and Amadioha and Nganga was magically seen discussing.
    Amadioha: I need Ikenga maiden at all cost. I love her and will do anything to have her.
    Nganga: She is yours already Amadioha, just get Ikenga out of the way.
    They faded into thin air.
    Ikenga: But what he told me is entirely different from what you are showing me. Amadioha can’t like my maiden.
    Agwusi: Now you believe what I am telling you anyway, I have a plan to get Amadioha from killing you and taking away your maiden
    Ikenga: ( With knee interest) Tell me your plan, Amadioha shall curse the day he plan to double cross me.

    Amadioha: Go, I sense him too, be careful Ikenga at times not everyone who smile at you are your friends, some are foes in disguise.

    Ikenga disappeared from their presence.

    Continuation from the last episode:

    Ikenga opened his eyes and saw the old man standing very close to his bamboo bed. Quickly sitting upright on his bamboo bed as the old man shift a little backwards to put some space between them. The oil lamp that was burning lighten up the room a bit.

    Ikenga: (Surprised) Papa, what are you doing in my hut?

    Old Hunter: I heard voices in your hut so I came in to check on you. Where you talking to someone? Where did the person hide?

    Ikenga: No Papa no one is here and as you can see I was sleeping when I have this feeling that someone is in. I’m a light sleeper Papa.

    Old Hunter: (Nodding his head) Oh I see, anyway since there is no one here but yourself, I will leave your hut right now.

    Ikenga: Okay Papa, there was no one here, probably you were imagining the voices.

    Old Hunter: Perhaps you are right. Sleep tight my son and may ChukwuOkike protect you.

    Ikenga: He is always protecting me Papa, good night.

    Old Hunter: Good night my son. (He left Ikenga’s hut)

    Ikenga: (In thoughts and spoke aloud) What did my brother mean by his last statement? Who are my foes? Does he know something and hides it away from me?

    Without getting any answers to his questions, he lay down on his bamboo bed and slept off.

    The next morning met Igwe Ofordili and his elders seated inside the throne room.

    All Elders: Greetings Igwe (Igwe Ofordili answered their greetings.

    Elder Udo: Igwe something terrible happened late last night.

    Igwe Ofordili: (Surprised) What happened?

    Elder Okoro: Igwe, the family of Mmachi and the family of Uzodinma were all killed yesterday night.

    Igwe Ofordili: (Shocked) What!!? Killed? By who?

    Onowu: That is what we don’t know Igwe, some families who were living not too far away from their huts said they heard scary growls and were afraid to see what it is.

    Elder Okeke: In fact when I arrived at the two huts, I only saw their remains which would mean a human eating beast visited this village last night.

    Igwe Ofordili: This is not happening not in my reign. Tonight our warriors will keep vigilant to see where the beast comes out from and where it goes. We need to know our enemies.

    Onowu: You have spoken well your Highness, but my worry is that the great chief priest hasn’t been seen for a while now. Doesn’t he knows the danger we and the whole villagers are now facing? What would be holding him from appearing to us to tell us the solution?

    Elder Udo: You are absolutely right onowu, let’s assume we know where the great chief priest lives we would have gone by now to seek for solutions, but we don’t know where he lives. We don’t even know where he comes from.

    Igwe Ofordili: I myself have been wondering if we have offended the great chief priest unknowingly, if we had then he should tell us so that we can apologize for our wrongdoings, but he’s nowhere to be found.

    Elder Okoro: So what are we going to do to the remains of the dead ones?

    Igwe Ofordili: They will be buried, Onowu you and the elders will be there until they are buried.

    Onowu: Okay your Highness.

    I hey left the palace a few minutes later and Igwe Ofordili got up from his chair and went straight to his hut.

    Adapuruche entered her mother’s hut without knocking and met Queen Amara seated with her eyes closed and smiling at nothing.

    Adapuruche: (Tapping her shoulders) Mother.

    Queen Amara: (Opening her eyes) Adapuruche, sit down and tell me what brings you here.

    Adapuruche: (sitting next to her mother on the bamboo bed) I ate the apple but nothing happened, I thought I would have powers by now mother.

    Queen Amara: You will have your Powers once it is up to 24 hours. Then our work will begin. You won’t go out until tomorrow.

    Adapuruche: (Smiling) I can’t wait to see the powers I will have in fact I will be staying in your hut all through the day mother.

    It was mid-day and Cheta was returning from where she went to pick firewood from. She met Ikenga along the way.

    Cheta:  (Stopping to greet ikenga who has a huge smile embedded on his handsome face) Greetings my love.

    Ikenga: Greetings to my beautiful maiden, let me help with the firewood. (He collected the firewood before Cheta would protest and carried it on one of his hands as if it weighs nothing.) How are you faring today my lovely one.

    Cheta: Great and you?

    Ikenga: Great also.

    Cheta: I waited for you to come early today like you promised to see my brother but I did not see you.

    Ikenga: Oh, so sorry my love, it escaped my mind but I am here now we are going to the palace together. (They continue their walk, ikenga leaving his hunting and followed Cheta to the Palace)

    Cheta: Didn’t you heard of a strange beast that killed two families last night?

    Ikenga: No, just hearing it from you.

    Cheta: I just hope it won’t repeat this night. (They got to the Palace and luckily Igwe Ofordili wasn’t in his throne room. They didn’t see anyone saved for the palace guards) Thank goodness no one is here (breathing a sigh of relief and collected her firewood from Ikenga) wait for me here. (She quickly went to drop it in the kitchen and went back to meet ikenga who haven’t moved an inch. Grabbing his hand she took him to Jidenna’s hut and they entered inside. Pointing at her brother) that is my elder brother laying there, can you heal him?

    Ikenga: (Went closer to Jidenna and touched his forehead, he withdraw his hand from his forehead and stare at Cheta.) It seems whoever made your beautiful face like this is also behind this. The enchantment looks the same, from the same enchanter.

    Cheta: (Anxiously) So can you heal him?

    Ikenga: No I cannot heal him but I know of someone who can. I will have to ask one of brothers.

    Cheta: Thank you so much my love. Let’s leave before my step mother or sister sees us coming out of Jidenna’s hut. I will be in hot soup if they find you with me. (They came out of the hut and they walked out of the palace) Let’s head to your place.

    Ikenga: (He remembered something) That reminds me, whatever the old hunter gives to you to eat once we arrive please do not eat it.

    Cheta: (Confused) Why?

    Ikenga: Last night he came to my hut then I was with my brothers and sense him right away. I have to leave an important discussion and saw the old man inside the hut.

    Cheta: And what did he tell you?

    Ikenga: He said he heard voices coming out of my hut and decided to check, though it is true, one of my brothers came to inform me that I am needed. But the old hunter wasn’t so clever with his lies.

    Cheta: How did you mean?

    Ikenga: I locked my hut door before I slept off.

    Cheta: if your hut is locked then how did he get in?

    Ikenga: That is what I am going to find out.
