    CASSANDRA
    Cassandra-Episode 42

‘’so what do you think about the two ladies?’’ I suddenly asked mum as we headed to my house minutes after the touching scene with Nora. She shrugged and breathed deeply.

‘’I like Nora very much and you are going to do the right thing with her. As for Cassandra, I really don’t know but she also acts like a nice girl. However your sister isn’t saying the same about her and you know she knows her much better ‘’’ she answered.

‘’I told Cassandra about Nora earlier today. She didn’t break up with me instead understood all I said to her. I really see that girl as a level headed person. Moreover she is very educated and beautiful. She will soon be a doctor and you will be her proud mother in law ’’ I said with a smile, forcing my mum to smile as well. Yes I believed Cassandra’s education was the only thing probably gaining my mother’s respect but then her new found motherly friendship with Nora was something I was intelligent enough not to overlook. At the end I knew I was the one to make the final decision but then in Africa we all know that family support or a mother’s support is very essential in a relationship.

‘’mum you know I couldn’t finish my education because of financial reasons. You also know that I’m ambitious and a good business man. Marrying a doctor will be good for the family and also good for business. I need your support’’ I appealed softly.

‘’supposing Cassandra isn’t educated, would you have noticed her?’’ mum suddenly asked, surprising me with the question.
‘’I really don’t thing you love that girl, because just like you said, you are simply blinded by what she is going to become in future and how good she will be for business’’ she added annoyingly.

‘’come on mum, don’t be like that. I love Cassandra. I know what I feel for her is strong to be called love’’ I defended quickly.

‘’how about Nora, what do you feel for her?’’’ she slowly asked, giving me a quick look. I breathed deeply, keeping quiet for some seconds.

‘’I really can’t answer that easily. I feel many things for Nora. I feel sympathy, respect and admiration but I don’t think I have enough love for her. No I don’t’’ I breathed slowly. My mother shrugged, saying nothing more.

My head really was filled with many thoughts as we silently made the rest of the journey back to my house. I couldn’t help but wonder what mum’s plans were. I couldn’t help but imagine what she could be thinking.

On getting to the gate, I stopped my car , alighted and tried to open the gate. A man instantly appeared from nowhere, taking me by surprise as he grabbed me from behind. My heart instantly stopped with fear.

‘’where is my Cassandra?. Where did you keep her?. Talk to me or I will slit your throat’’ the young man threatened loudly as he softly pierced my neck with the tip of a small knife. I instantly knew the fool trying to scare me was no other person than Edwin. I desperately struggled to free myself while my mother jumped out of the car.

‘’you are taking this too far. Let go of me Edwin’’ I barked, struggling with him.

‘’who is that old woman?, Is she comi8ng to fight me or what?. I guess you have lots of loved ones and yes I will destroy them one by one before killing you. Cassandra is my wife , let her be’’ he threatened, threw me forward towards my mother, and faced us with a defiant posture. The neighborhood was very dark and less busy. The noise also coming from hundreds of generators inside the surrounding buildings greatly added to the noisy evening.

‘’my son are you alright?,who is he and what did he say to you?’’ my mother asked breathlessly while I stared back at her unable to say a word because I was deeply shaken.

There wasn’t any doubt that Edwin could kill me and destroy my family.

‘’ahhhh I see she is your mother. Hmmmmmm’’ Edwin quickly chuckled while I stared suspiciously at him, wondering what his next move would be.

The guy was really, really sick in the head.

    GODMOTHER (18+)

    Godmother-Episode 40

‘Honey, wake up.’ She turned him on his back and his
deathly face remained unmoved. He was very still. At that
moment, Rita let out a scream.

The house maid was the first to hear her scream. She
rushed to the master bedroom. There, she saw her madam
holding her husband, shaking him and calling his name
    amidst sobs.

‘I’ll like to take my bath now,’ Rita said as she moved to the
    bathroom.

He only nodded. He was still dazed and was still thinking he
was in nightmare. He could hear her close the door of the
bathroom. He stood up from the bed and walked around the
large bedroom. Was all this real? She had told him it was
real, and he was beginning to fell so. He went to the
window and looked through. It was day time now and the
street was getting busy. From his view from the first floor
two-bedroom flat, every other thing looked normal, except him.
He went to the mirror to check the new look again. It was
the face of a handsome young man of about thirty years.

Amazing! This must be a fantasy. So, Tope was no more.

But wait a minute, what if Tope was alive and this person
standing before the mirror happened to be a split
    personality? What if …?

There were many other questions. He was unsettled. This
was the kind of mystery he had read in a fantasy story
years ago. How could this practically be happening to him?

He moved from the bedroom to the sitting-room. It was
the way he had known her sitting-room to be. He could
hear the horning of a bike from the adjoining street.

Everything seemed real. He returned to the bed-room.

She had finished her bath and was back inside.
‘I’m off today, and I will not be going to work,’ she
    announced.

‘You still work in that hospital?’ he asked.
    ‘Yes.’

She brought out a body cream and started applying it on
    her body.

‘So, if I’m not Tope, who am I?’ he asked.

She smiled at him. ‘You can decide what name you want.’

He chuckled to himself. This was fantastic and fabulous.

‘But if you ask me, I will choose Dave,’ she put in.

That was not far from his surname, his former surname,
    Davies.

‘Let us assume this is real, Dave is not a bad name.’

‘So, let’s settle for Dave, darling.’
    He nodded.

By ten o’clock that morning, the news break finally went on
air on many radio and television stations. It was with shock
and sadness to announce the death of Tope Davies, Minister
of State for Mass Media. The young ebullient and energetic
young man died in his sleep. A post mortem examination
would be conducted to ascertain the cause of death. He was
such a lively and committed young man who wanted to do
    his best for his fatherland….

Tope, now Dave, watched the news in Rita’s sitting-room
on a local television station. She was perched by his side
and held his hand. He sighed deeply, still wondering if he
was in a dreamland. So that was it. That was the end of his
wealth and power. He had achieved a lot in a short while
and suddenly, he had come to the end. This was pathetic.

    He sighed.

‘You can still live with me for years,’ she was saying. ‘You
    can still live for years.’

He turned to stare at her. ‘Just who are you?’ he asked.

‘You should know by now. I’m from the spirit world, and
    you’re my man.’

He shook his head. Maybe he was, indeed, in a dreamland.

Maybe he would soon wake up from the slumber and come
    back to reality.

    Maybe.

    The End.

    THE BLUE LOVE

    The Blue Love-Episode 24(Worthless)

    JAJA’s Point Of View

I am feeling nervous and aware of the
people’s stare. We are currently on a
meeting, Dad and Master let me join them.

Now, Master is currently looking at my
designs. I am beside him and I can see his
reactions as he flip the pages.

“Look at her designs,” Master said and give
the sketchpad to the one near him.
The designers clustered on one side and
looked at my designs. They are nodding
    and smiling.

“Sir, the designs are beautiful,” one of
    them said.

“Send a copy of it to the client 560.” Master
give the sketchpad to his secretary and
    faced me. “Very talented lady.”

    “Thank you, Master.”

I know that the people on meeting are
confused on how I call Master but they
didn’t asked for the fear of waking up
    Master’s aggro.
“You’re not going to hire her, son?” Dad
    asked.

“What do you think, everyone? You want to
work with her?” Master asked the other
    designers.

They are smiling and excitedly nod. “Of
    course, Sir.”

“Good.” Master faced me again. “I’m gonna
leave you to them for awhile. Even I want
to be with you now I can’t. I need to attend
    a meeting.”

“It’s okay, Master. I would like to start
    working with them now.”

Master stood up as well Dad and the other
designers. “Pray that the client would like
    the designs of Jaja.”

After Master and Dad leaved, the designers
    rushed towards me. They happily
    introduced theirselves and kindly
welcomed me. They pulled me in their
private studio here in the building. They
assisted me on everything and introducing
me to other employees as the new
    designer.

“Jaja, can we ask you something?” Kaelo
    asked.

    “Sure.”

“Why’d you call Sir Benjamin as Master?”

Should I tell them the truth? But Master
have a rule that I shouldn’t tell them
    anything regarding to our previous
    relationship.

“I called him Master because when we are
together, he acts like a boss.”

They nod. “We had thought Sir Benjamin
had become a teacher and you are his
    student.”

I smiled. Little did they know that Master is
really my teacher. My personal teacher.

“You know what, we are thankful because
you came. Sir Benjamin almost brought
havoc on the meeting. You’re his angel.”

I smiled again. “Stop complimenting. I’m
    just a normal lady.”

“Are you his girlfriend?” they asked.

They have a lot of questions, really.

    “No. Not yet,” I answered.

    “Is he courting you?”

    “Yes. He’s my suitor.”

“That’s the reason why Sir Benjamin
changed his mood suddenly when he saw
    you.”

“By the way, let’s start working and
    designing.”

    BENJAMIN’s Point Of View
    .
I didn’t know that Jaja can design. I only
know that she draw and design dresses.

“I like Jaja for you, son. The first time I saw
her, she got my heart. Marry her now.”

We are currently on a trip going to my next
meeting. Dad is the contact of the new
client of our company so he joined me.

“Dad, don’t be too excited. I want to
experience the moments that a couples
    do.”

“Have you not experienced it yet? You’re
too slow, son. You love her, do you?”

“Of course. I love her very much.”

    “More than you loved Olga?”

“Dad, she’s a past now. Don’t bring up that
    topic.”

“I just to make sure, Ben. Jaja look innocent
and fragile. I don’t want you break her,
    Ben.”

I sighed. “I am serious with Jaja, Dad. I love
her different from the way I loved Olga. I
realized that Olga was loved by me because
    we’ve been so close before.”

“Promise me, Ben, you won’t break Jaja.

And be fast, marry her now.”

Here comes the marry her again. “Dad, I
    told yo–”

“Just say you’re not ready yet. But I am
warning you, Ben. Jaja is still young and
green, indeed, but I know she really loves
you. Don’t let her go away. Treasure her.

    She’s worthless.”

I was silenced. Dad never liked Olga the
way he likes Jaja. Is this the sign to settle
down and be with Jaja for the rest of my
    life?

    JAJA’s Point Of View
    .
I FELT SOMEONE nudged my shoulder. When
I look up, I saw my co-workers giggling
    and smiling wildly.

    “Here’s your lover boy, Jaja.”

I turned to face the door. Master is
standing there, staring at me. It’s been a
week since I became their new designer.

Client 560 likes my designs so they ordered
lots of jewelries that was designed by me.
My co-workers are willingly helping me
    despite it was Master’s will.

“You’re having an OT again. Stop making
yourself tired. Let’s go home.” Master took
my satchel and hold my hand. He faced my
co-designers. “All of you should go home
    also.”

“Okay, Sir Benjamin. Take care both of
    you.”

“Thank you,” I thanked. Master pulled me
    into the elevator.

“Tomorrow evening, the Client 560 is
inviting me and you on their party. We’re
going to the mall and we’ll do shopping,”

    Master said.

“What kind of party is that, Master?”

    “It’s a 60th celebration for their agency.”

I’ve learned from my co-designers that the
    Client 560 is a modeling agency. They’re
one of the great clients of JewelCore
because they are also representing the
    jewelries of Master’s company.
Master opened the door for me so I hop
into his car. He circled around and hop in.

“Wear your seatbelt,” Master said. He
sneaked a glance at his wristwatch. It’s
already 6 in the evening. He inserted the
key in the engine and turned on the car and
    we leaved the building.

    “How’s your day, Master?”

“It’s good. How about you? How does your
    co-designers treat you?”
“They treat me like an angel, Master.”
    “Angel?”
“Yes. It is because your mood suddenly
changes into better every time I am
    around, Master.”

Master laughed. “Well, they’re right. You
    are my angel.”

We are talking until we reached the mall.

Master pulled me into the girl’s boutique.

“Good evening, Sir and Ma’am, how may I
help you?” asked by the saleslady.

“I’m not good in terms of lady’s dresses.

Assist my girlfriend to pick the best gown
    and stiletto for her.”

“No problem, Sir. May I ask, what is the
    occasion?”

“It’s a night party for elites.”

“Well, you have gone into the best
boutique! We have beautiful gowns and
lots of branded stilettos here that suits this
lady well. Come with me, Ma’am.”

“I’ll just wait here. Wear everything the
saleslady say then show it to me.”

I followed the saleslady when she had
picked up the gowns and shoes that she
thinks could fit into me. She lead me to the
    dressing room.

I pick the first gown and worn it along the
stiletto made for the gown and then I’ll
come out and show it to Master.
Master smiled. “Try the next one.”

The saleslady had picked five gowns so I’ve
tried five different gowns and five
different stilettos and shown it to Master.

But as Master’s reaction from the first
gown, he’ll just smile and then say ‘Try the
next one.’ I finished trying those gowns
and shoes so I give it to the saleslady who
assisted me. She left me on the dressing
room. I wear back my clothes and got out
    from the dressing room.
Master is already waiting for me holding
    three paper bags.

    “Let’s go.”

“Master, didn’t you like the gowns that I
    had worn?”

“I liked them all so I buy it all along the
    stilettos.”

My eyes were literally widen. I’ve seen the
price tags of the gowns and shoes I had
worn. They are too expensive, the prices
    are too high.

“These things can’t equal your worth. Only
people who can’t appreciate and love you
can sell you like your Uncle. That hundred
dollars isn’t enough. For me, you are
    worthless.”

My heart beats fast and fell in love again
because of his words. Master is really sweet
    monster.
    “I love you, Master.”

“I love you too, Jaja.” He hold my hand and

kissed the back of it. “Let’s have a date.”

    GODMOTHER (18+)

    Godmother-Episode 37

By five a.m., he was in the guest room with the mat,
torchlight, his phone and a bottle of water. He calculated
that he would be sitting for nothing less than twenty-two
hours. Twenty-two solid hours! It was not going to be easy
    but he must stay alive.

He put the mat in a way that his back would rest against
the wall. The bottle of water and other things he had
brought were all within his arm reach. He would be
switching the phone of for now, but later when it was dark,
he would be switching it on to monitor the time. He made
one last visit to the toilet and then sat on the mat.

It was his longest ever sitting position. His back ached and
he felt stiffness over his bones, but he must remain seated.

    He must remain alive.

Rita was not completely rest assured by her husband. She
felt she just had to do something about his predicament,
but what could she do? Her mind hovered between going
to see her pastor and going to see the old man Aunty
Wunmi had taken her to. At the end, she decided to see the
old man. After all, he appeared to be powerful too.

She got to the old man’s house about noon.

‘Thank God, I meet you in the house,’ she said.

‘Welcome, my daughter,’ he replied. ‘Hope all is well.’

She shook her head. ‘I don’t think all is well. It’s about my
    husband again.’

‘What about him? Don’t tell me he’s still saying he will go
ahead and marry the other woman?’

‘Oh, no. it’s not that. This is an entirely different problem
altogether.’ She went on to tell her the old man how her
husband had said a danger was looming over his life, but he
    had taken some precaution.

‘In addition to what he’s doing, is there no way I can help
him? Is there no way you can protect him and shield him
    from danger and doom?’

The old man sighed deeply. He was silent for several
moments as if he was communing with certain invisible
powers. Finally, he looked up and grinned.

‘Let us leave him with the protection he has sought. I think
at the end of the day, all will be well with him.’

‘Baba, are you sure all will be alright with him?’

The man emphatically nodded. ‘Don’t you trust me again?

All will be alright with him.’

Rita smiled and hoped the man was right. She peeled off
handsome sum of money, handed it to the man, and left the
place. The baba must be right, she told herself. He was
powerful and he must be right.
In the room where he had sequestered himself, he
intermittently dozed off and on, but his butt0ckz remained
on the mat. When it got dark, he remained wide awake. At a
time he switched on the phone, it was quarter past nine. He
grinned to himself. He had less than three hours more to
remain on the mat. Time ticked on. He checked the time on
the phone again. It was twenty-five minutes past eleven.

Less than an hour to go. Even as he was there, he could not
help thinking about Rita (Iye) and how his chanced meeting
with her had changed his life. In reminiscence, he realized
that he had acted so selfishly and covetously. If he had
obeyed the simple directive that he should be faithful to
his wife, all these troubles would not have arisen.

Then he wondered, what exactly would happen if Iye had
her way. The alfa had said she was waiting for him. Waiting
    for him where?

    Time ticked on.

When it was a couple of minutes to twelve mid-night,
everywhere suddenly became pitch dark. He became
immobile. Then, there were glints of light and he saw three
women clad in red clothes that were tied from their chest
to their knees. They were the same women he saw years
ago when he was going through his third ‘test’ with Iye.

The one in the middle spoke. She called his name three
times. ‘Get up from that mat you’re sitting on,’ she
    commanded.

He did not want to answer her. He knew he was just a
minute away from life. He would have loved to ignore her,
but he could not. A force pulled him off to his feet and
    away from the mat.

‘That’s good,’ the same woman spoke. ‘She’s waiting for
you. You can now be together.’

The three women disappeared while he fell into a deep

    sleep.
