Hidden Motives-Episode 20

“… you can’t do this Maria” he barked angrily.

“I can Jerome and I’m doing it. You have left me with no choice and as far as I’m concerned there is no going back in my decision. If you like call Jupiter or Pluto to come and plead on your behalf, I’m not changing my mind and that’s period…

“I won’t accept it, I will fight this… even if it’s the last thing I do here on earth. I won’t… never…” He said again swearing under his breath.

“You don’t really have a choice here Jerome. No, you don’t. So accepting this or not accepting is not a matter of choice. It’s been decided and you will have to dance to the very music you started. He who fetched ant infested firewood should be ready to welcome lizard as a guest. I may probably not get the riddle right but it still ends with one message which you can relate to. This is the outcome of your doing Jerome and there’s a consequences for every action. It may not come immediately after the deed but it will definitely come one way or the other…”

He was quiet, he sat hard on the ground tired. Without looking up at Maria he said quietly.

“You have already made your point very clear, I accepted that I messed up, I have been apologising for the past one week now after the meeting with the two con artist that dragged me into this. You refused to believe that I was under a spell, they were probably remoting me and make me to misbehave like I did. Because, Maria I will never do any of this to you. I love you and I love our daughter, you and Jasmine are all that I have got. I will never deliberately dribble with my family or substitute them for anything. I will never  joke with the company’s fund, I have the best interest for it at heart and can’t with my clear mind bring it down to dust after enriching another woman. Believe me… please. Kago has finally agreed to come over and maybe after hearing from him you will come to understand that none of this was my doing. I really don’t know how to apologise again Maria, I don’t know what I will do for you to believe me. Please, don’t just throw me out there into the street, how do you want me to start life all over again, where will I start from.? You’re only sending me to go and die, on a suicidal mission and if I die my blood will be on your head… I’m sure you wouldn’t want that…”

Maria looked at him from where she was sitting and shook her head pathetically

“Clearly, you haven’t come to know my kind of person yet. When I stop caring, when I stop loving, when I zero my mind off you it means I don’t give a damn of what becomes of you. Jerome, you can go and die and I won’t even bid you safe journey to the underworld, writing rest in peace will be bidding you farewell but since I no longer care I won’t bother. You know why because you as a person will kill me and throw my corpse to the lagoon without a second thought. You have proven that in your actions and I’m not giving you any more chance because who knows what will happen next…”

“God forbids it, Maria I can never hurt you deliberately, I’m not that kind of man. I love you and will never …”

There was a knock interrupting him

“… that must be Kago..” Jerome said as he jumped up and rushed to the door.

Kago stepped in and came to greet Maria.

Jerome urged him to tell Maria what they have previously discussed privately.

He had already told Kago what to say. He didn’t agree at first but later did.

“I totally understand that you’re angry, you have every right to be. But please be merciful in your judgement, Jerome here was deceived, he must have been under a spell because those scammers can go to any length to achieve their aim. I believe it was until the spell fell off from his eyes that he realized himself. Jerome loves and value you and Jasmine. He respects you as a person and will never do this to you with a clear eyes. I have known him for years now and every opportunity he got he sings the praises of his family. I don’t know how things like this happened. It’s huge and shameful, he did too much and I know you felt betrayed and hurt… coming from the very person that supposed to shield and protect you and all that you hold dear…”

Kago Continued talking, Maria looked from Kago to Jerome who was continuously nodding to everything that Kago said.

Maria suddenly asked Kago to stop talking.

“Please… please stop Kago. All of this looks more like a rehearsed poem to me. But congratulations, you did well by trying to cover your friend’s sins, probably you were even encouraging him in the act. A single guy, who can’t look past a fine woman having a married man as a friend, he can easily be influence into your kinda lifestyle. I don’t really blame Je…he used to be a good husband and father and also a great manager but I guess your friendship with him brought him nothing good. I don’t really blame him for all of this but you Kago for walking him down this destructive path, you probably placed a bet on who to win the heart of Lucinda and you won but due to she was married you decide to rope it on him, Je…am I correct?

Jerome nodded again to Maria.

“Yes my love, it was all Kago’s ideas. I will never do that intentionally. I value you too much to want to do anything that will hurt you or the company. Kago dragged me into this and like you know he is a bachelor that does anything he possess…he lives carefree and I don’t know how I allowed his way of life get into my head. I never wanted any of this. I told him that I’m a married man and in charge of my wife’s company I can’t afford to mess up but he kept reminding me about the beauty of Lucinda and how she was finer than you. He said you are just plain… a black woman. Lucinda was fair and sparkles, very attractive and that we look good together. I never believe him or compromise, I told him to let me be that I love my wife and can’t be deceived. I don’t know how I was manipulated at last, I still can’t explain it but it was all Kago’s fault and I’m happy that you saw the innocent part of me and know what I’m capable of. I promise I won’t let this kind of thing repeat itself again…”

Kago was shocked and speechless as he kept looking at Jerome.

He had this confusing smile of not knowing how to react.

“Really Je, aaww that’s cute and sweet to know…” Maria replied smiling.

Jerome seeing the smile from Maria started talking  bad things about Kago, he kept talking none stop.

Kago broke his silent and said

“Guy, truly you’re a fool. I don’t have anything to say to you again but just for your information, I’m engaged to be married and my wedding date is fixed for next month 23rd. You’re not invited…if I see you any inch close I will personally kick you out. I hope this path you’ve chosen favors you this time around…”

Kago turned to Maria and said “I’m really sorry Maria, for everything. Sincerely… I’m sorry. You don’t deserve any of this. You are a good woman and has never failed to serve me whenever I come visiting back then. I have always pray to have your kind of woman, not in wealth but in wisdom, in hard work, in caring, in humility and and family oriented. Jerome is my friend and I deserve to be blamed for all of these. I should have done better and influence him positively but I failed in that aspect. you are right in blaming me, I accept all the blames and I know my apologies can’t do much at this point but it comes from the purest of heart. I hope all of this troubles is resolved amicably but if you decided otherwise I won’t blame you, no one will blame you because it’s too much to take in once. Jerome is not a bad guy, he was just easily misled. I pray and hope you find a place in your heart to forgive him…”

Kago walked out after giving Jerome another annoying look.

Jerome felt ashamed and resolved to pleading but it was obvious Maria’s mind was made up.

Jerome needed to look for somebody else that will plead on his behalf since Kago failed in sticking to the plan they already had.

Hidden Motives-Episode 07

“My wife, she’s not at home and her car is parked. Do you happen to see her around? Is weekend and I expect to see her at home…” Silaz said to a shocked Jerome.

Jerome was not expecting to see Silaz today, he was definitely not expecting him to be back so soon. 

His whole thoughts was that it must be the deliveryman who supposed to bring the food him and Lucinda ordered.

“…are you okay Jerome…is everything alright…?”

Jerome realized that his mouth was open as he try to find the perfect answer to Silaz’s unexpected questions

“Yeah, I am..I’m good…”he stuttered.

“Why are you stuttering, you’re acting like you just saw a ghost…”

Jerome scoffed, he waved his hand in the air like he was trying to wave off Silaz’s words

“I’m surprised to see you, wasn’t expecting you to be back so soon. Hope the business trip went well? Jerome managed to say.

“It was actually postponed. I happened to do one part of the deal, I will go back for the second part once is confirmed ready. So back to the question…”

“The question? What is the question? Jerome asked confused.

“My wife.. did you happen to see her? 

“Your wife? No…not at all. Is she missing? Jerome asked.

“She is not missing. Her car is parked in the compound but she is not at home. 

Jerome couldn’t think of what to reply immediately, Silaz continued.

“… or maybe she left in another car but what if she is with another man right now? Probably they thought that I won’t be back soon and decided to carry on with their dirty act…”

Jerome thought Silaz was indirectly talking about him. He was guilt stricken and couldn’t utter a word as fear grabbed him.

“..is everything alright Jerome, you are not saying much. You behave like something is wrong somewhere…”

“I’m absolutely fine Silaz. You know the general saying that a third party shouldn’t interfere between husband and wife. So I’m trying to mark my boundary and not interfere.

“You of all people knows that you’re not interfering with anything. I usually talk to you concerning everything and you respond fine unlike today. Anyway, can I come in? Let me stay at your place and wait for her arrival…”

“Uhmm! That won’t be a very good idea right now beca…cause my mother is around” Jerome couldn’t think of a better lie.

“Your mother? I thought you said she passed on 11 years ago? Anyway, I probably heard wrong. If your mother is inside then that’s fantastic… I will love to say hello to her if that’s okay…” Said Silaz

“No….no…no! Now is not a good time.my mother brought a woman for me to marry, so we have been arguing ever since. That’s why I appear a little bit up-tight..” 

There was a minute silence as Silaz sighed tiredly.

” I see. Well, I guess since you are not ready to settle down momma got to do it for you. It saves you lots of stress of searching for a full wife material out there. Some women are weird, only few of them are ready to be supportive, respectful and submissive, so when you happen to find one of a kind like that do anything to keep her. My wife got all I need and that’s the reason I’m fighting tooth and nail to keep her in line, because she maybe fragile at heart but she is intelligent and a very sweet person. Alright Jerome, I will go back to the house and wait for her arrival. I wish to surprise her with my unplanned return but I guess I will have to call her to ascertain where exactly she was. Tell your mother that one of your neighbor friend is saying hi….”

Just as Silaz was turning to leave, the deliveryman arrived with the package.

Silaz pause and said “whatever is in that package smells delicious, it makes my stomach grunts hungrily…”

“Is food… for my Mom and the lady she brought. I don’t have a chef, ordering food is a norm at my end unlike you that has a wife…”

“That’s why you need a wife so that your “norm” will change. Please order mine too, whatever is inside those plates that smells so delicious please bring mine. Let me have something to eat while I wait for my wife to return…”

Jerome said he will order and send it over later.

Silaz thanked him and left.

Jerome collected the order from the deliveryman.

He ordered for Silaz through his phone  before going inside.

Getting inside, Lucinda was on her feet hiding in the room

“Is he gone? She asked 

“Trust me, I know how to handle people like your Silaz. He’s gone but you will wait a little here, I will go over later to engage him in a conversation so that he won’t see you sneaking out of the house…”

“Alright, what of the food? I’m hungry and need to eat…”

Jerome and Lucinda later began to eat.

“Sometimes I wish we were couple, I wish I have met you before my husband. You got me in a way that he doesn’t. I have lost my appetite.”Lucinda said as she pushed the food aside.

“Me too Lucy, I wish you are all mine. Some night I can’t sleep knowing clearly that you’re in bed with Silaz…in the arm of your husband. Even when I’m with you I want to do more than kissing, romancing and smooching…I want more than that Lucy. I know you said soon not now, I totally understand and ready to wait but is hard sometimes. I want to respect your wishes but you don’t make it easy on me… I want more of you Lucy…”

” But we do almost everything. Maybe we should take break in this romantic thing, I feel very guilty sometimes. Silaz doesn’t deserve this and I want to take few days off work to attend to my husband’s needs. I don’t want a divided home…I still love my husband. 

“I will do anything Lucy just to have you… anything please”Jerome pleaded

“You really mean what you are saying…”

Jerome began to swear.

“Fine Je, I want a house of my own…I wish you can buy me a fine house located in a calm expensive estate. If you can get lots of million car for me, if you can take all the risk just to have me then I know for sure you can do this… you’re a  wealthy man. Just in case Silaz decide that he does not want me again then I will have a house of my own and you can freely visit too. But if it’s a big deal for you then no problem. You don’t have to do It…”

Jerome was quiet. He told her that she should give him time to think about it.

Getting a house will cost him lost of millions and if he dare remove any other money from the company’s account Maria his wife will want to know why he did that and for what reason. That may affect the company because he had used almost all the profit on Lucinda.

He can’t just take such risk before the company enter bankcruptcy 

But for Lucinda he is ready to go extra mile. He had gradually fallen for her.

Lucinda doesn’t even know that he is a married man and the company he uses to boast belongs to Maria his no nonsense wife.

Maria trust him enough to put him in charge, he had been doing very well untill Lucinda showed up.

He had spent so much already and still spending.. since Lucinda said she will probably leave the husband and need a place where she will stay if that happens then he will see what he can do about it.

But he needs to cook up e story for Maria first.

Jerome later went over to distract Silaz from seeing where Lucinda will come out from.

But Silaz who was sitting close to his window saw when Lucinda was coming out from Jerome’s house.

Hidden Motives-Episode 03

He reluctantly opened the door with his heart in hand.

Seeing who was at the door, Jerome gasped out and that was when he realized that he had been holding his breath.

“Oh, it’s you Kago…”

Kago looked from Jerome to Lucinda.

“Hey Kago, Good afternoon. How’re you doing today…? Lucinda said while going outside

“I… I’m fine…” Kago replied as he try to ascertain what exactly was going on.

He walked in and Jerome shut the door.

Kago looked at Jerome with so many questions in his eyes.

Just then something in between Jerome’s legs caught his eyes.

He began to laugh sarcastically

“Woooahh, my guy…Jj the baller, hope you didn’t score on top of another man’s wife? 

Jerome ignored him, he walked to a chair and sat down.

“… you can’t talk again, cat chopped off your tongue? Aah…my guy, hope you did do anything with that woman? 

“Nothing happened… relax. Jerome said as he stood, walked to the winery shelf, poured drink into two cups, brought one to Kago.

“I can’t relax my guy. You’re beginning to piss me off. This is very wrong… you’re disgracing yourself and it’s not cool at all. You’ve being crushing on your neighbor’s wife right from the first day… that’s  ever since they moved in, you haven’t stopped admiring her. You did all you could to get into their lives, home and now you are trying to get into her pants. Another man’s wife…Are you cursed?…”

Jerome angrily threw his cup with the drink in his hand on the wall close to him.

The drink flashed on Kago’s body, staining his shirt.

Jerome face Kago angrily

“Is your brain melting, what is it? We’re friends does not give you room to start acting like my parents or teacher. Why are you trying to school me, do I look like a kid? I told you that nothing happened, nothing happened between I and Lucinda. Why don’t you get it. She will be resuming in my office by Monday and I was just putting her through some of the things we do in the company… just to have foreknowledge. I got carried away in the process and it resulted to what you saw. I was shaken when I heard a knock thinking is Silaz. It was a great relief knowing it was you and know you’re making me regret letting you in. Is enough already guy…”

Kago sighed ignoring him. He walked inside Jerome’s room, took one of his office cloth and used it to clean his body.

When he was done he checked his wardrobe again and collected another of his shirt and wore.

He came out and went straight to the food on the table that Lucinda brought.

Jerome looked puzzled when he saw his friend with one of his expensive office shirt.

“… What is the meaning of this? He swear under his breath, stood and started walking towards Kago.

“Guy, if you come near me…I will break your skull. I don’t want to react the way this whole thing is making me feel because you know if I do, this whole house won’t contain us. Just keep your distance let me eat first and have strength. I even used one of your favorite white shirt to clean off the drink you spilled on me…is on your bed. Wait,  Lucinda also brought this food for you right? Hahaha, Guy, you don’t like your life. Silaz will gun you down, that guy will kill anyone that gets close to his wife. But before you die, make sure that I’m included in your will. If I don’t benefit anything during your lifetime at least let me get something in your death. this food is very delicious. You’re really enjoying your neighbor and his beautiful wife….”

Jerome did not say a word as he went to clean off the mess he made on the ground.

“….by the way, why is Lucinda resuming in your office? 

Jerome told him her reasons.

Kago began to laugh again. He laughed so hard that he fell off the chair, stood up and return to the food.

“This is tragedy comedy movie, is intriguing and  so hot. I will watch it to the very end. I just hope you don’t get burnt my guy. There’s still time to quit acting and focus…” Kago said as began filling his mouth with turkey meat.

“There’s absolutely nothing to worry about Kago, the way you’re even taking this whole thing is pissing me off. Yes, I like Lucinda, is a normal thing to like somebody right? That’s all to it. Is well registered in my head that she is another man’s wife…I will trade with caution. Thanks for your concern Kago. Now, can we end this conversation and please make sure you don’t finish that food…”

There was silent as Jerome went to join Kago on the table.

“… Kago, this food was specially for me… you have eaten enough. You’re here condemning me but still filling your stomach with a married woman’s food…”

Kago who was done eating cleaned his hand with a serviette and turned to Jerome.

“Let’s leave joke aside J’, what of Maria… your wife and your kid? You’re acting all single now because Maria traveled. I know you did not tell Lucinda and her husband that you’ve a family… A beautiful industrious wife and a cute little girl. How can you deny your family because of selfish interest in another man’s wife? What will you do if Maria and your kid returns…? 

“My wife is not coming back soon. Before she will finish with her PhD program it will take a while. Beside, I’m not doing anything wrong. I didn’t tell Lucinda or Silaz that I’m single, they just presume that I am and I decided to flow with it. I’m not playing any game, I understand I got family but please keep it to yourself. Don’t go telling anyone…I know you’re not a snitch…”

Kago stood and started moving to the sitting room. “may God have mercy on you. You’re not acting like a man who has a family man…”

Jerome began to laugh while holding a spoonful of food in hand “please, tell me how a family man supposed to act. Maybe I should have written it on my forehead to let the world know. Don’t judge me yet Kago until you’re married. You’re still a single guy…relax until you get there…”

 

Kago sighed as he took the remote control and began checking television channels.

Two months later, Silaz silently watch as his wife carefully arrange her office cloths on the bed.

Everything was carefully set out articulately. she paired each attire in a fashionable manner with so much joy.

She totally forgot that her husband was seated there in the room.

He breathed sharply, making noise in the process yet Lucinda did not turn to look at him.

“Babe… babe…” He called, bringing her attention to him.

“Yes…” She replied and went back to what she was doing without turning to look at him

“Is everything ok… with you, with work? You seen so happy with this new job of yours…”

Lucinda replied, as her eyes travels back and forth from her husband to the clothes. “Isn’t that a good thing? You want me to be happy right…and I’m happy. You should be happy too. I love my new job…it gives me joy. Some day, I will get to thank Jerome for bringing happiness to my life. I’m setting out my weekly wear, I need to look good. Looking good is a good business…”

Silaz was silent for a while as he continued to watch her.

“You need to be careful babe, you’re a married woman working for a single guy. I’m not saying Jerome is that kind of guy that will have anything to do with a married woman, Jerome is single but he respects boundaries. I’m more concerned with other guys in his company. She said as she move closer to him.

“My dressing is very appropriate. I understand clearly that I’m a married woman but that does not mean that I should start dressing miserably. I’m a learned, pretty, classy lady. I am a queen and you know that already. my dressing should speak of it at all time. Don’t allow your imagination to run wild…I know what I’m doing. Look at all the clothes I arranged, if you don’t like anyone… tell me and it will be removed or exchanged…”

Silaz pointed at three, Lucinda removed only one and left the others.

She turned to her husband and said.

“… Jerome maybe single but he’s not a flirt. He’s a honorable young man. He respects me and also respects you. None of my male colleague had ever made any kind of flirty advances at me. Quit worrying my love, I’m all yours…”

Silaz heaved a sigh of relief as his wife kissed him on the lips before returning to what she was doing.

She continued setting out the clothes happily.

 She looked forward to Monday with so much joy.

Hidden Motives-Episode 02

They all sat in the well furnished leaving room after dinner one day.

While the maid was clearing the table, they were relaxing in the sitting room.

“Is just two months and I’m already getting bored whenever my husband leaves for work. I wish I have something doing, like a job. Leaving house in the morning and coming back in the evening is really underated. I so much crave for that but my hubby said is not necessary since he’s making enough money for two of us…” Lucinda said to Jerome who sat beside Silas.

Jerome set the bottle drink in his hand down and said.

“I can fix you up in my company, if you want and offcourse if Silaz don’t mind too…”

“Really, you can do that? Oh wow…I will really love that. I don’t think my husband minds…” Lucinda said before turning towards her husband “babe, do you mind”?

Silaz heaped a sigh before saying “if it makes you happy, why not. I really don’t want anything that will stress you. I make enough money for both of us and can set you up business wise if you care to venture into sales. But…is fine. If Jerome, our kind neighbor and friend here want to give you a position is his company that’s fine by me, I trust him…”

Lucinda blew a kiss towards her husband, Silaz acted like he caught it in air making Jerome to laugh.

“I truly admire you and Lucinda. Your union, marriage feel so good to watch and I’m actually learning how to treat my wife in the future…”

“It baffles me that you don’t have any woman in your life, with all this fine boy swag you got…” Lucinda said.

Jerome smile shyly.

Silaz cut in “you make so much money from your company, you’re very Ok… comfortable yet single. You haven’t seen a woman that suits you or you’re single by choice…? Silaz said the last part laughing.

“Is none of the above. Is neither by choice nor by force. I was too busy building my company and did not feel getting a woman was necessary.. not until two years ago. Well, i haven’t really seen any woman for me yet. I want to be well established so that my future wife won’t have to suffer. You know… just like you and Lucinda. You are ready to give her an empire if she wish. You’re about to complete your five storey building project in one of the expensive areas, you both goes for vacation often, seeing the world and making friends. Lucinda wanting to work is because of boredom. That’s the kind of life I want for my woman…”Jerome said trying to sound convincing.

Silaz nodded affirmatively

“Is good Jerome. You future wife will be very pleased. So, when should I resume my new office…I can’t wait. Said Lucinda.

“, You can start on Monday. I will introduce you to all the staff by then. Whenever you’re free this weekend, you can come around the house I will put you through some of the things we do, just the basics. That’s if is okay by you or I can bring my laptop down here later to show you…”

“No..no problem. I will come around tomorrow with my husband. Thanks..I really appreciate the offer…”

Jerome try to hide his displeasure over Lucinda coming with her husband.

After sometime he left.

In the afternoon the following day, there was a knock.

Jerome opened the door and saw Lucinda with a big bag.

“I made mushrooms soup with rice and fried turkey for lunch, I brought some of it for you.. “

“Thank you Lucinda. I was about ordering food, I’m glad I waited. Please come in…”

Lucinda went in and dropped the food bag on the dining table.

“…I deeply appreciate. When will you be ready for the tutorial, what of Silaz…?

“,Now, that’s one of the reasons I came. My husband is taking a nap and said he won’t be coming. Our cook is getting ready for dinner so I have an hour and few minutes to spare…”

“Fantastic, let’s begin then..” Jerome said excitedly. He was happy because Silaz wasn’t coming.

He will get to have Lucinda close and all to himself.

“Do you know before I got married, I used to imagine that my hubby will be black, handsome, tall with cute mustache and fine detentions just like you. But plans changed after I met Silaz. Although he is fair but he’s everything to me. I used to like my men black and never thought I will end up with a fair man. But is all to my good…”

Jerome laughed “you think I’m handsome and can pass for your man..?

“Off course Jerome, I’m sure this is not your first time hearing that. It was before I met my husband I used to think like that but not again. Silaz made me fall in love easily with his sweet personality and I have never stopped loving him ever since…”

“You said you have been married for three years, you don’t want kids yet or… hope this is not a funny question. Pardon me if it appears offensive…” Jerome said pleadingly.

“Is fine. Initially we wanted to wait for a year or two before babies. We planned to enjoy each other’s company and savour every moment of it before making plans for kids. After two years we were ready for a baby but it never came. We are following all our medical journey in achieving that. I and my hubby are hopeful that at the end it will be positive…”Lucinda said returning her attention to the laptop that was placed in front of her.

Jerome nodded and said “it will, definitely. Let me put you through the office stuffs”

After a while, Lucinda said “is not too difficult. I easily grab things. I bet you by the time I start work it won’t take a week and I will be perfect with the job…”

“I’m glad. You’re a fast learner Lucinda and Silaz is very lucky to have you as his wife. I hope someday I will get a woman like you in my life…”

Lucinda smiled, she Pat him gently on the shoulder and said. “Your future wife will be far better than me, that’s my prayer for you. I will be heading back, my husband hate loosing sight of me for too long. He must be worried by now because is almost one hour that I have been gone…”

She was about standing when Jerome loosed focus and kissed her cheeks.

“Ooh..oh no…I.. I’m sorry Lucinda. I’m very sorry. I got carried away with you sitting very close to me, your scent so inviting. Your beauty radiats like the sun. This is no flattery and I mean no harm. I promise it will never happen again. I promise… please. Please Lucinda try not to tell your husband, i beg of you…”

Lucinda stare at him for sometime before saying “yea…is alright. It was just a peck… nothing serious. Silaz will have your head if he finds out, so it better not happen again…”

She started walking towards the door after asking Jerome to come and open the door so that she can leave.

Jerome who was too ashamed to get up due to his manhood was already malfunctioning and there was an obvious swelling in his zip side. He remained seated.

Lucinda got to the door and stood waiting for him. 

There was a knock all of a sudden.

“That must be my husband, please come and open the door..” Lucinda said impatiently.

Jerome heart skipped as he started looking around for something to cover up the obvious bulge in his trouser but there was nothing that he can quickly lay his hands on.

He looked towards Lucinda and saw that she was looking straight at the swell in his trouser.

The knocking came harder, Jerome started moving towards the door ashamed while trying avoid Lucinda’s stare.
