Karan entered the room to find Samara seated on the bed, frowning with her arms crossed around her breast. Her face was dark, and her eyes flashed with anger.

“What’s wrong, why did you leave the dining like that?” Karan asked.

Samara ignored him, her gaze fixed on the wall.

“I am talking to you,” Karan said, his voice firm but gentle.

“Just leave me alone, Karan. Why not go and enjoy dinner with your ex-wife?”

     “I still don’t understand why you’re angry.”

“Seriously, when did you become so close to Arya? You were never with her like this. What changed? Don’t tell me you’re already having feelings for her.”

Karan sighed tiredly, his eyes filled with frustration. He shook his head and left the room, ignoring Samara’s nagging.

Days flew by, followed by weeks. Karan and Arya’s friendship continued to blossom, but it started to bother Samara. Rohan, too, was affected, as he kept receiving photos of Karan and Arya together, laughing and chatting. But he never let Arya know about it.

The day of Samara and Karan’s engagement party arrived. Everyone was busy preparing the place, and Samara was getting dressed in her room with the help of her mom and Karan’s mom.

Meanwhile, Karan stood in his balcony, lost in thought as he stared at Arya, who was helping out with the preparations. His eyes were fixed on her.

Rohan arrived at the party with Abhi, and his eyes met Karan’s. He saw the way Karan was gazing at Arya, and he sighed, his heart heavy.

Arya saw Rohan and rushed to him, her face lighting up with a bright smile. They hugged each other, and Rohan’s eyes met Karan’s again. This time, Karan looked away, his expression guilty.

Rohan and Arya went inside, chatting and laughing together, while Karan remained on the balcony, lost in his thoughts.

The engagement party was in full swing, with vibrant colors and lively music filling the air. Karan and Samara sat down facing each other, surrounded by their family and friends.

As they began to exchange the rings, Samara’s eyes beamed with excitement. She was radiant in her traditional Indian attire, her smile bright and joyful.

Karan, on the other hand, seemed subdued. His eyes went through the motions, but his heart wasn’t in it. Secretly, he was stealing gazes at Arya, who stood close to Rohan, her beauty shining in the crowd.

Rohan noticed Karan’s gaze and felt a pang in his heart. His eyes met Karan’s, and for a moment, they locked in a silent understanding. Rohan’s heart felt heavy, his emotions conflicted.

As Karan placed the ring on Samara’s finger, she let out a delighted squeal. The crowd erupted in cheers and applause, but Karan’s eyes drifted back to Arya.

Arya, oblivious to Karan’s gaze, smiled and clapped along with the others. Rohan, however, couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was amiss. He glanced at Karan, then at Arya, his heart filled with a sense of foreboding.

As the ceremony came to a close, Samara leaned in to kiss Karan, her eyes shining with happiness. Karan’s eyes, however, seemed distant, his mind elsewhere.

As the engagement ceremony came to a close, everyone congratulated Karan and Samara, and they made their way to the dining table. The table was filled with a variety of delicious food, and they all sat down to eat.

Arya, sitting next to Rohan, tried to create a conversation with him, but she noticed his distant expression and decided to remain quiet. Everyone else was laughing and chatting, enjoying the food and each other’s company.

As the evening drew to a close, the party began to wind down. Arya walked with Rohan to his car, and they stood facing each other. Rohan took her hands tenderly, his eyes searching hers.

“Is everything okay? You seem distant during the party,” she asked.

Rohan forced a smile, trying to reassure her. “Yes, everything is fine.”

     “Are you sure?” she pressed.

“Yes, you don’t need to worry about me.” He leaned in and kissed her cheek, his lips soft and gentle. “Good night, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

     “Okay, drive safely.”

Rohan nodded and got into his car, driving off into the night. Arya waved goodbye and then turned to enter the house, almost bumping into Kiara.

Kiara was staring hard at Arya, her eyes blazing with an intense gaze. Arya was taken aback, confused by Kiara’s look.

Kiara’s eyes seemed to bore into Arya’s soul, and Arya felt a shiver run down her spine. She didn’t know what to make of Kiara’s intense stare.

“Um, is everything okay?” Arya asked Kiara, confusion etched on her face.

    Kiara scoffed.”Enjoy while it lasts.”

She walked away, leaving Arya staring after her, perplexed.

Meanwhile, Samara stepped out onto the balcony, a happy smile still plastered on her face after her engagement with Karan. She inhaled the fresh air, feeling carefree.

But her gaze caught sight of a familiar figure standing outside the compound, looking up at her. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she gasped, quickly rushing back into her room.

She managed to sneak out of the house without anyone noticing, her heart racing with excitement and nerves.

Once outside, she grabbed the person’s hand, and they moved to a secluded spot.

“What are you doing here?” She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

“I came to see you and our unborn child.” He said, smiling

“Listen, Frank, I told you already, once my wedding with Karan is done, I’ll come and see you. Why did you leave the US and come to India?”

“I couldn’t wait anymore, Sam. I miss you. Please, marry me and leave your boyfriend.”

“Are you crazy? You know I can’t do that. I love Karan. You know you and I were a mistake. Please, don’t come and ruin my relationship with Karan for me. I love him.”

“What about me? What about our child? Does he know that the baby isn’t his?”

“Please, Frank, leave before anyone sees you. Please leave now. I’ll come and see you tomorrow in the hotel.” She said, her eyes darted around nervously.

    “You promise?”

     “I do. Now go.”She nodded.

Frank smiled and walked away, leaving Samara feeling shaken.

As she went back inside, she was shocked to see Karan sitting in the living room, lost in thought.

“Karan,” she called, trying to sound casual.

Karan was jolted out of his reverie, his eyes focusing on Samara.

“I thought you were inside,” Karan said, looking at Samara with a hint of surprise.

“No, I just went outside to take some natural air. But why are you here alone?”

“Nothing, I’m just tired and I needed to rest for a while.”

“I know today’s celebration was hectic. Let’s go inside and freshen up.”

“No, you go ahead. I’ll join later.”

    “Okay, don’t take too long.”

She kissed his cheek and left for their room, excitement radiating from her.

Karan sighed, his eyes following Samara as she walked away. He then stood up and left for Grandma Viti’s room.

“Grandma,” he called, his voice soft.

Grandma Viti turned to him, “Karan, why are you here? Is everything okay?” she asked, sitting upright on the bed.

    “Grandma.” He bowed his head.

Grandma Viti’s face softened, and she caressed his hair. “Talk to me, what’s wrong?” she asked, her voice gentle.

     “I don’t know, Grandma. I don’t understand what I feel anymore. I’m confused.”

“What do you mean, Karan? Are you regretting your decision already?”

Karan hesitated, his eyes downcast. “I don’t know, Grandma. I think it’s too late.”

“Don’t think too much, relax your mind, and everything will be fine.”she pulled Karan into a warm hug.

Karan’s eyes closed, and he let out a deep sigh, feeling a sense of comfort in Grandma Viti’s arms.

Rohan drove home with a smile still plastered on his face, his mind replaying the wonderful evening he had with Arya. He entered the living room, heading to his room upstairs, without noticing his family seated at the dining table, who had come to pay him a surprise visit.

They watched him climb the stairs to his room, their faces filled with amusement.

“Mom, Dad, did he see us, or are we now invisible to him?” Ram asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief. He was Rohan’s younger brother, just twelve years old.

“I guess he looks so happy, I’m sure his blind date went well.”Mrs. Singh smiled knowingly.

“Should we go and see for ourselves?”Mr. Singh’s eyes twinkled with curiosity.

They nodded in unison, stood up, and climbed the staircase to Rohan’s room. When they reached his doorstep, Ram tapped on the door gently.

Rohan, who was in his room taking off his clothes to freshen up, heard the knock and thought it might be his cook. He opened the door, and his eyes widened in surprise as he saw his family standing in his doorway, their faces beaming with smiles.

He let out a startled scream and quickly shut the door, trying to process if it was really his family standing outside his room.

“Rohan, open the door!” Mrs. Singh called out, knocking on the door again.

Rohan took a deep breath, composed himself, and opened the door, forcing a smile onto his face. His family entered the room, their eyes scanning his face, eager to know about his blind date.

Rohan’s eyes widened in surprise as he faced his family, who were now seated on his bed, their faces filled with amusement.

“What are you all doing here?” he asked.

“Is this how you welcome your family that you haven’t seen for a week?”Mrs. Singh said, feigned a frown, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

“Why did you scream and close the door when you saw us?”Ram asked.

“Because you all got me scared. You never told me you were coming to my house.”

“We came to pay you a surprise visit and also to know about your blind date.” Mr.Singh said.

“Wait, let me get this straight. You mean to tell me, you all left your house to come to mine just to ask about my blind date?”

His family nodded simultaneously, their faces grinning from ear to ear. Rohan sighed tiredly, shaking his head at their antics.

“So, tell us, son, how did it go?” She pulled him down to sit beside her.

“We are curious to know. Please tell us, so we can start preparing for the arrangement to meet her one on one.” Mr.Singh said.

Rohan’s family nodded in unison, their faces filled with anticipation. Rohan sighed and stared at them, his face a mix of amusement and resignation.

The next morning, they sat around the dining table, enjoying their breakfast. Mrs. Singh’s eyes sparkled with curiosity.

“So, son, when are we seeing this Arya girl you went on a date with?”

“How did you know her name was Arya? I never mentioned her name.”

“You did, last night when we asked you about your date. You kept mentioning her name countless times without knowing.”Ram teased.

“When are we seeing her? I am dying to meet my future daughter-in-law.” He asked, and his wife nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with anticipation.

“Easy, family, we only just went out once.”

“Then go out with her again. This is actually the first time you went on a blind date and returned home with a smile. You wouldn’t stop complimenting how she is.” She said.

“There’s something you should also know about her.”

     “What?”Mr. Singh’s eyes narrowed.

    Rohan hesitated before speaking. “She…She’s Karan’s ex-wife.”

He raised his face to see any reaction on their faces, but they remained neutral.

“And?…We know about that, Viti told us already.”Mrs. Singh spoke up, a hint of a smile on her face.

     “You all knew?”

His family nodded in unison, their faces breaking into smiles.

“Although I haven’t seen her in person, but I am really dying to meet her. And I can see you like her already.”Mrs. Singh said, smiling.

Rohan’s face turned bright red, and he looked down. His family continued eating, their faces filled with knowing smiles.

        *KABIR’S MANSION*

Arya and Maya were busy helping out in the kitchen, while the rest of the family lounged in the living room, engaged in various activities.

Ved spoke up, his brow furrowed. “Kiara and Sonia, why are you two just sitting there instead of helping Arya and Maya in the kitchen?”

Zara nodded in agreement. “I think he’s right.”

Kiara rolled her eyes, her look dismissive. “I don’t want to get my hands dirty. I just polished my nails.”

Sonia chimed in, her voice equally nonchalant. “Me too.”

Jash’s eyes narrowed. “How will you learn how to cook?”

     “We can cook, Uncle.”Sonia shrugged.

“Then prove it by going to the kitchen. I’ve never seen you two in the kitchen cooking for the family. Don’t you know you’ll be somebody’s wives tomorrow?” Zara’s husband said.

“Let them be, they’re still young and full of life. They’ll learn.” Gian intervened. His wife nodded in agreement.

“You haven’t told me the name of the guy you went on a blind date with.” Maya said.

Arya smiled, about to reveal the name, when Samara’s scream pierced the air.

Everyone’s heads turned towards the sound, their faces filled with concern.

They quickly rushed upstairs to Samara’s room. As they opened the door, they saw her looking frightened, clutching the bed to her chest.

“Samara, what’s wrong?”Gian’s wife rushed to her side, her face worried.

Roshni joined in, her voice soothing. “Calm down, tell us what’s wrong.”

Samara panted, her eyes wild with fear. “My baby…she tried to kill my baby.”

“Who’s trying to kill your baby?”Sonia’s eyes widened.

Samara’s eyes scanned the room, landing on Arya, who stood by the door with a worried look.

“She!” Samara accused, pointing at Arya. “She tried to kill my baby.”

The room fell silent, everyone’s faces shocked.

“What are you talking about?” Arya asked confusedly.

“Calm down, Samara, it’s just a dream.”Jash intervened

“It’s not just a dream…I saw her chasing me with a knife, trying to harm my baby.”

“Arya is not someone like that.”Maya said, defensive.

“I know what I saw. She tried to kill my baby.”Samara’s voice rose.

“It’s okay, calm down. It was just a bad dream.”Roshni said, trying to calm her down.

Later in the evening, Karan returned from work, his face tired and worn. Samara greeted him.

“Karan, I had the most terrible dream,” she said, her voice trembling. “I saw her and she was trying to harm our baby,” She continued.

Karan remained neutral as he began to undo his shirt. He didn’t say a word, his silence unsettling.

“Karan, are you listening to me?” Samara asked, her voice rising.

“Samara, don’t let it bother you. Besides, it’s just a dream, so let it go.”

“Is that what you’re going to say?” she asked,  disappointed.

“Look, Samara, I’m tired and I need to freshen up. Then I’ll go downstairs and eat.”

He turned and walked away, leaving Samara staring after him, confusion and frustration etched on her face.

      ★★★★★

The next day, while everyone was busy preparing for Samara’s family visit, Arya was getting ready for her blind date. She dressed up and came out of her room, walking along the passage when she accidentally bumped into Karan, almost falling. Karan quickly grabbed her by the waist, pulling her closer to himself. Their eyes locked for a moment, and Arya’s Wide-eyed in shock.

She pushed away from him quickly, her eyes avoiding his. “I’m sorry…thank you,” she muttered, hurrying away.

Karan stared after her, his expression unreadable.

When Arya entered the living room, everyone’s eyes widened in amazement at her beauty.

“Wow, Arya, is this you?” Jash asked, smiling at her.

Roshni’s eyes sparkled with admiration. “You look perfect, my dear.”

Zara’s husband nodded in agreement. “I’m sure your blind date will be pleased to meet you.”

The room filled with laughter and compliments.

Grandma Viti beamed with pride. “You look great.”

“Thank you all for your compliments.”

However, not everyone shared the same enthusiasm. Sonia and Kiara exchanged furious glances, their faces twisted in disdain.

Ved spoke up, his voice neutral. “You should start going now.”

Arya nodded, waving goodbye to everyone. “Alright, bye everyone, see you later.”

As she left, Karan stared after her from the stairs, his face still unreadable.

Sonia’s voice was laced with malice. “What’s so special about her, anyway? I pray her blind date gets ruined.”

Kiara nodded in agreement. “She’s not worth the love.”

Maya appeared from behind, her face disapproving. “Stop wishing someone evil and focus more on finding a perfect match for yourself.”

She walked away, leaving Sonia and Kiara staring hard at her, their faces still twisted in anger.

    ★★★★★★

Arya arrived at the five-star restaurant, her eyes widening in awe at the beautifully decorated building. She walked in, and the cool air conditioner and air freshener greeted her, making her smile warmly.

As she made her way to the VIP section, she noticed a man seated with his back against her. She wondered if that was her date. As she got closer, she saw the man’s legs crossed, sipping from his drink, with a champagne bottle already on the decorated table. He was dressed impeccably, his hair neatly trimmed.

Arya sighed and decided to speak up.

“Um, excuse me,” she said politely.

The man quickly turned around, his eyes locking onto hers. He stood up, his face surprised.

“Arya?” Rohan called out, his eyes wide with recognition.

Arya’s eyes scanned his face, trying to place him. “Um, are you my blind date?” she asked, her brow furrowed.

He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I guess,” he said, quickly moving to draw out a chair for her.

Arya sat down, her expression still puzzled. “Thank you,” she said.

“You’re welcome. It’s such a pleasure to meet you. I didn’t know you were my blind date. It’s a miracle,” he said, his eyes shining with excitement.

“Have we met before? You kind of look familiar,” she said. confusedly.

“Um, yes. My name is Rohan Singh. I’m Karan’s friend. We came to your father’s house when Karan came to plead to take you home,” he explained.

“Oh, I thought as much,” she said, her voice flat.

“Hope you’re not sad about this?” he asked.

“Um, no, not at all. It’s just a surprise that my blind date happened to be one of Karan’s friends,” she said. Her smile forced.

“But it doesn’t matter. I’m sorry it turned out the way you weren’t expecting it,” he said, his eyes filled with sincerity.

Arya’s smile faltered for a moment before she regained her composure.

“No, you don’t have to apologize. It’s okay,” she said, her voice strained.

“Okay, if you say so. What can I offer you?” he asked, calling out a waiter.

As they ordered their food, Arya’s expression remained polite, but her eyes betrayed a hint of disappointment and unease.

Rohan noticed Arya’s unease as they began to eat, her eyes darting around the restaurant, her smile forced. He decided to break the ice and throw up a conversation.

“So, how have you been?” he asked, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Arya’s response was brief, her voice barely above a whisper. “Fine.”

Rohan’s expression turned encouraging, and he continued to ask her questions, drawing her out of her shell. At first, Arya’s responses were hesitant, but as Rohan’s warm smile and easy laughter put her at ease, she began to open up.

Their conversation started to flow rapidly, and they found themselves laughing and joking together like old friends. Arya’s eyes sparkled with amusement, and her smile turned genuine.

Rohan’s face lit up with delight as he discovered they shared a love for adventure and good food. “You’re a foodie?” he exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement.

Arya nodded, her laughter ringing out. “Guilty as charged.”

As they chatted, the waiter came to clear their plates, but they barely noticed, too engrossed in each other’s company. They continued to talk and laugh, sipping their drinks and enjoying each other’s presence.

Arya felt a sense of relief wash over her, surprised by how comfortable she was in Rohan’s presence. It was their first date, but it felt like they’d known each other for years.

Rohan’s face turned thoughtful as he listened to Arya, his eyes never leaving hers. He was captivated by her intelligence, her wit, and her beauty.

As the evening wore on, they found themselves lost in conversation, the world around them fading into the background.

An hour later, Rohan pulled up outside Arya’s gate and parked. He quickly got out and rushed to open the door for her.

“Thank you,” she said, smiling up at him as she stepped out of the car.

They stood facing each other, the evening air filled with a sense of possibility.

“Thank you for today, I had fun,” Rohan said, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

     “Me too.” Her smile deepened.

“It’s such a shame it has to end soon, but I hope we can do this again sometime?”

“Maybe,” she said, her cheeks flushed pink.

“I’ll be the happiest if it happens again,” he joked, and they both laughed.

“Alright, good night,” Rohan said, his eyes lingering on hers.

“Good night,” Arya replied, turning to leave.

But Rohan called out to her. “Arya!”

She turned back to him, a questioning look on her face.

Rohan hurried to the other side of the car, opened the door, and pulled out a bunch of red roses. He walked back to her, a romantic smile on his face.

“This is for you,” he said, holding out the flowers.

Arya’s eyes widened in surprise, and she hesitated for a moment, her emotions in turmoil. No one had ever given her red roses before.

“Thank you,” she said finally, trying to hide her emotions as she took the roses from him.

“You’re welcome. Have a nice rest,” he said, waving at her.

She smiled up at him again, feeling a sense of wonder and excitement. She turned and walked inside, the roses clutched tightly in her hand.

Rohan watched her go, a faintly happy smile on his face. He got into his car, feeling elated, and drove off into the night.

Arya entered the room with a faint smile on her face, the red roses still clutched in her hand. Everyone turned to her direction, including Karan and Samara, their faces filled with curiosity.

“Hey, Arya!” Maya called excitedly, rushing to her side. “You’re back! How did it go?”

    “Um…”

“Maya, let her sit down first,” Roshni suggested, smiling.

Maya led Arya to sit down next to Grandma Viti and Roshni, while Karan and the rest sat on the other side of the couch, watching them with interest.

Ved’s eyes landed on the roses in Arya’s hand. “Did your blind date give you those flowers? They’re beautiful.”

“He must be a generous man.” Zara said.

“Come on, dear, how did it go?” Grandma Viti asked.

     “It was great, Grandma.”

“So, do you like him?”Jash asked,

Arya’s cheeks flushed pink, and she looked down, her voice barely above a whisper. “He’s a nice person.”

Maya squealed with excitement. “Aww! This means you two will meet again.”

Arya’s blush deepened, and she replied, “I guess so.”

“I’m happy it ended well. You should go in and freshen up.”Grandma Viti smiled, satisfied.

Arya stood up, smiling at the roses in her hands, and walked away, leaving the room filled with chatter and speculation.

Karan’s eyes followed Arya, his face unreadable. Samara noticed the way he was looking at her and frowned.

“I’m so happy for the date. I can’t wait to see the young man.”Roshni’s voice cut through the chatter.

Karan suddenly stood up, his face tense. “Excuse me, everyone.”

He left the room, heading for his own, leaving the others to wonder what was wrong.

Arya returned to the Kabir’s mansion, and the family welcomed her back with warm smiles. She made her way to the room, only to be met with a surprise: her clothes were scattered all over the floor. Samara sat on the bed, filing her nails, her look nonchalant.

Arya stood frozen for a moment, sensing that Samara was behind the mess. However, she decided to keep her cool.

“Why are my clothes on the floor?” Arya asked firmly, her eyes locked on Samara.

Samara didn’t look up, her expression dismissive. “I just did some cleaning,  “Besides, this isn’t your room anymore,” Samara continued. “You and Karan are divorced now, so I see no reason why you should still be staying in this room with us.”

“I didn’t plan on staying here with you guys.”

She began to pack her clothes into her luggage, her movements efficient and quiet.

Just then, Karan walked into the room, looking exhausted from work. Samara’s face lit up with a bright smile as she rushed to hug him.

“You’re back! How was work today?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with interest.

Karan smiled wearily. “It was stressful. Right now, I need to freshen up and eat.”

His eyes caught sight of Arya standing by the mirror, removing her wedding chain and bracelets. She placed them on the table, her movements deliberate.

Arya didn’t make eye contact with him as she rolled her luggage quietly out of the room. Karan stared after her.

“Finally, we have the room to ourselves.”Samara’s voice brought him back to the present.

His gaze returned to Samara, and he smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Arya was rolling her belongings along the passage when Kiara emerged, standing in front of her with a mocking face.

“You finally realized you were nothing but a statue in front of Karan,” Kiara sneered, her eyes glinting with malice.

Arya rolled her eyes, her expression unbothered. She ignored Kiara’s jibe and continued rolling her luggage away.

Kiara smirked after her, her face still twisted in mockery.

Arya rolled her belongings to a room that was already prepared for her by Roshni and Maya. The room was cozy and welcoming, with a big master bed that seemed to beckon her.

She fell onto the bed, letting out a deep sigh of freedom. Her eyes closed, and a warm smile spread across her face.

“This is it, Arya,” she whispered to herself, staring at the ceiling. “It’s time to move on and forget the past.”

Her smile deepened, and her body relaxed, feeling the weight of her past lift off her shoulders.

    ___________★★★★__________

Karan sat in the pub with his friends, surrounded by the dim glow of neon lights and the hum of lively chatter. They clinked glasses and took sips of their drinks, their faces animated as they conversed.

Abhi’s eyebrows furrowed in concern. “I can’t believe you did this, Karan. You let that lady go.”

“I did what’s right. I don’t want her,” he said, gulping his drink.

“And you think the best option is to divorce her? Why don’t you wait to really know the type of person she is?” Rohan said.

“I told you guys before that I don’t like her, not even a single bit. Now that we are no longer together, I want to focus on Samara and our unborn child.”

“I just hope you don’t come begging when it’s too late.” Rohan said.

“That won’t happen,” he said, his voice laced with confidence.

Later that evening, Arya had made dinner for everyone, and they sat down to eat together, including Samara.

Ved’s face lit up with delight. “Hmm, Arya, this food tastes nice.” Arya smiled warmly at him.

“You’re getting better at it every day.”Zara said, impressed.

“I think you should open a restaurant.” Roshni said.

The rest of the family chimed in, agreeing with Roshni’s suggestion.

“It will be better.” Maya said, encouraging.

“Thank you, but opening a restaurant isn’t my dream.”

“What’s your dream then, being a rejected housewife?”Sonia said in mockerym

The rest of the family laughed, except for Maya, Karan’s parents, Grandma Viti, Zara, her husband, and Ved.

“One more harsh word from you, and I will stop your allowances.”Grandma Viti warned coldly, her face stern.

Sonia’s face fell, and she apologized quickly, returning to her food.

“Come on, Arya, what’s your dream?” Zara asked.

Arya opened her mouth to respond, but got interrupted as Karan stumbled into the room, looking a little tipsy.

“Karan?” Samara moved to him, who smiled drunkenly at her. “Where have you been?” Samara asked, her voice laced with worry.

Karan face turned goofy. “I was out with my friends.” He placed his hand on Samara’s cheek, his eyes glassy. “Why are you still here? Aren’t you thinking of leaving me alone?” Karan slurred, looking at Samara as if she were Arya.

The room fell silent, with everyone staring at Karan in confusion, including Samara.

“What are you saying, Karan?”Samara asked confusedly.

Karan smiled again and fell onto Samara, dozing off.

Ved stood up, “He’s drunk.” He assisted Samara in helping Karan to his room.

The rest of the family sighed and continued eating, their faces ranging from amusement to concern.

The next morning, Karan slowly opened his eyes, wincing in pain. He saw someone sitting next to him and squinted.

“Karan,” Samara called gently, her face etched with concern.

Karan’s eyes were blurry, and he rubbed them, trying to clear his vision. “What are you doing here?” he asked, still seeing Samara as Arya.

“What are you talking about? It’s me, Samara.”

Karan sat up with a jolt, his face contorted in pain. “Gosh, my headache,” he groaned.

Samara quickly offered him a cup of warm coffee. “Drink this, it will help with your hangover.”

Karan gulped down the coffee, wincing at the bitter taste.

“Are you feeling okay?” Samara asked.

Karan nodded, still looking a bit disoriented. “Yes, let me freshen up.”

“Okay, let me get your breakfast.” She left the room while Karan went to the bathroom.

Samara entered the living room, where everyone was having their breakfast.

“Good morning, everyone,” she greeted, but only a few responded.

Roshni looked up from her plate. “How is Karan doing?”

“Fine, I’m here to get him breakfast.”Samara smiled.

She left for the kitchen, but what she found surprised her. The pots were empty, with no trace of food left.

One of the workers entered the kitchen. “Good morning, ma’am.”

“Why is there no food left for me and my husband?”

“We didn’t prepare the food, Mrs. Arya did.”The worker replied politely.

Samara’s face darkened with anger, and she stormed out of the kitchen, determined to confront Arya.

Samara’s face twisted in annoyance as she confronted Arya. “Why is there no food left for me and Karan?” she asked rudely.

The room fell silent, with everyone staring at Samara in confusion. Arya, however, ignored her, continuing to eat her breakfast.

“I am talking to you, Arya!” she snapped.

“What do you think you are doing? What is she to you, your slave?”Arya asked, her voice firm.

Samara’s eyes widened, taken aback by Grandma Viti’s words.

“Have you forgotten she is no longer married to Karan?” Grandma Viti continued. “So, if you are hungry, why don’t you do the needful and get yourself busy in the kitchen instead?”

Samara’s face fell, her expression sheepish.”But…”

“I don’t think you hear Grandma correctly, Arya is not your worker here. If you are hungry, go to the kitchen and fix yourself something to eat.” Maya said, unlikely.

“Are you all siding with her? That she deliberately ditched Karan and me?”

“I didn’t ditch anyone. Besides, Karan doesn’t like eating my food. He hasn’t eaten my food once, so why would I stress myself over it? You can go to the kitchen and prepare the meal yourself.”

Gian’s wife’s face turned disapproving. “Arya, that was rude.”

“What did she say that was rude, here?” Jash asked, defending Arya.

Samara stared hard at Arya for a while, her expression furious, before turning and storming out of the dining room.

        ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️

Days flew by, and Karan couldn’t stand the torture anymore. He decided to go and bring Arya back due to constant pressure from his friends, who offered to accompany him.

When they arrived at the house, Mr. Taru welcomed them warmly, smiling at Rohan and Abhi’s friendly demeanor. Arjun wasn’t around, having taken Arya out for some shopping to brighten up her mood.

Ever since Arya came to her father’s house, a lot of people in the neighborhood had been gossiping about why she was back at her father’s house barely a month after getting married. Different negative comments were flowing in the air, making Arya uncomfortable. Whenever she came out, all eyes were on her. So, Arjun decided to take her out.

“Thank you for welcoming us in,” Abhi said politely, his eyes smiling.

    “You are welcome.”

“I’m sure you know why we’re here. Karan asked us to accompany him to his father-in-law’s house to make amends for what he did.”Rohan said.

Karan stared at Rohan, surprised by his comment.

Mr. Taru’s gaze turned to Karan, who lowered his face to the ground, his eyes cast downward in shame.

“Ok,  Don’t you have something to say?” Mr. Taru asked, his voice gentle.

Karan’s friends urged him to speak up, their faces encouraging.

Karan took a deep breath, his face nervous. “Um, yes.”

He fell to his knees, his hands clasped together in a pleading gesture.

“I’m sorry for what I did to Arya. I promise it will never happen again. Please forgive me,” he said, his voice filled with remorse.

“It’s okay, your grandma and your parents have already pleaded on your behalf,” he said, his eyes filled with forgiveness.

“Does this mean we can take Arya back with us?” Abhi asked, his eyes hopeful.

Mr. Taru smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Yes, on a condition.”

Karan, Rohan, and Abhi stared confusedly at him, their faces filled with curiosity.

“If you try to raise your hands on my daughter again or I find any scratch on her body, you will face a harsh penalty from the society,” Mr. Taru said, his voice firm and serious. “Believe me, that won’t be too good for you.”

Karan gulped hard, his face pale with fear.

“I promise, I won’t,” Karan said, his voice shaking slightly.

Rohan and Abhi smiled reassuringly at him.

“We promise it will never happen,” Rohan said. “If he does, we will be the first persons to deal with him.”

Abhi nodded in agreement, his face serious.

“That’s okay, it’s a good thing he has you two as friends, and he should learn the good side from you.”

Rohan and Abhi smiled, pleased with the compliment.

Karan frowned at his friends, his face still pale.

“Can we see her now?” Rohan asked.

Mrs. Amal spoke up from the kitchen. “No, Arya left with her brother. I guess they are on their way—”

But before she could finish, a harsh voice interrupted her.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Arjun yelled at Karan as he entered the living room with Arya, both holding shopping bags.

Arya’s eyes widened in surprise as she saw Karan in her house.

Arjun rushed to attack Karan, but Rohan and Abhi intervened quickly by stopping him.

“Please, that’s enough. We don’t come here for a fight, but for peace,” Rohan said, trying to calm Arjun down.

Arjun’s face was red with anger. “He is not welcome here!”

“Please, calm down. We understand what he did was wrong, but he is here to make amends.”Abhi said calmly.

“Calm down, son. They are right.”Mr. Taru’s voice was firm.

“Arya, go in and pack your things. Your husband is here to take you home.”Mrs. Amal spoke up.

Arya’s face was filled with a mix of emotions as she moved to her mother and they walked away together.

Arjun moved to Karan, his eyes blazing with anger, and stared at him. “Don’t think my sister is weak, that you can treat her however you like,” he said, his voice low and menacing. “Be rest assured that she has a brother who can protect her. If I find a scratch on her body, I will kill you and bury you where no one can find your corpse.”

He threatened, his face twisted in a scowl, and brushed his shoulder against Karan’s as he walked away, leaving Karan looking pale and intimidated.

Meanwhile, Amal was helping her daughter arrange her things, her face filled with concern.

“Remember all I have told you,” Mrs. Amal said, her voice soft but firm. “Don’t get into his space. If he asks you to stay clear away from him, do as he says. Don’t ever try to bring down your self-esteem in front of anybody. Do your duty as a housewife and ignore the bad attitude from those who don’t like you.”

Arjun walked in, his face still stern from his confrontation with Karan.

“And when he provokes you to your limit, stand your ground and give it to him as he wants,” Arjun added, his eyes flashing with anger. Arya nodded

“I will,” she said. “From now on, I will try to avoid him and focus more on myself.”

Mrs. Amal smiled, relief washing over her face, and kissed Arya’s head.

“I believe you,” she said, and they shared a group hug, Arya’s eyes shining with tears.

“Don’t forget to call me when he does something hurtful to you, and I will teach him a hard lesson,” Arjun said, his face still stern, and Arya nodded, a small smile on her face.

Arya finally bid goodbye to her family as she entered the car with Karan, who was driving. His friends followed behind them in another car.

On their way, Karan’s eyes were stern as he focused on his driving, his jaw clenched in tension. Arya, on the other hand, was calm, staring out of the glass window, her expression serene.

“I have a condition,” Karan said, his eyes fixed on the road, his voice firm.

“Ok, let’s hear it,” she said firmly, her voice unwavering.

“Bringing you back home doesn’t mean I want you back as a wife. I did it, so I get back what my grandma took from me. Starting from today, let there be distance between us. Don’t talk to me, don’t come close to me, don’t ever think of invading my privacy.”He said, coldly.

“Sure,” she said, her voice soft.

“You are not my wife. I have someone I want to marry, someone I was forced to leave because of you. Everything would have been normal if you hadn’t existed.”

     “I promise, I won’t,” she said.

Karan’s face turned red with anger, but he said nothing, his eyes fixed on the road.

“Good,” he said finally, his voice cold.

    They continued driving in silence.

    ★KABRI’S MANSION★

Everyone was already expecting Karan and Arya back home since Mrs. Amal had made a phone call to them that they were on their way.

The family members were gathered in the living room, their faces filled with anticipation. Grandma Viti’s eyes were shining with happiness, her face filled with a warm smile.

Grandma Viti stood at the entrance of the house, a warm smile on her face as she welcomed Arya back home. She held a tray in her hands, adorned with a diya (lamp), a small bowl of rice, and a few flowers.

“Arya, welcome home,” Grandma Viti said, her eyes shining with love and warmth.

She waved the tray in a circular motion, performing the traditional aarti ceremony to purify and welcome Arya back into the house. As she did so, she prayed,

“May the light of the diya guide you on your path, may the rice bring prosperity and abundance into your life, and may the flowers symbolize the beauty and love that you bring into our home.”

Arya’s eyes welled up with tears as she touched Grandma Viti’s feet, seeking her blessings.

Grandma Viti smiled and blessed Arya, “May you always be happy and content,  May your marriage be filled with love, laughter, and joy.”

As the ceremony ended, Grandma Viti’s face lit up with joy as she hugged Arya tightly, welcoming her back into the family fold.

Karan’s parents, also hugged Arya warmly, smiling at her with love and acceptance. Other family members and close friends who had gathered also to welcomed Arya back with open arms.

Karan nodded at them but his eyes lacked warmth. Without saying a word, he turned and walked away, leaving the festivities behind.

Arya sat beside Grandma Viti on her bed, concern etched on her face. Grandma Viti’s eyes looked sad, her face lined with worry.

“I love Karan so much,” Grandma Viti said, her voice trembling. “The last thing I would do is try to ruin his life.”

“It’s okay, Grandma,” she said gently. “You just need to be patient for him to come around. Don’t give up on him; he’s still your grandson.”

“I’m sorry about the way he’s been maltreating you,” she said, her voice cracking.

“It’s okay, I’m getting used to it already,” she said. “I know it won’t be easy for him to come out of his angry shell. Patience and prayers are what we need.”

“Thank you, Arya,” she said, her eyes shining with gratitude. “Thank you for standing by him, even with the way he’s treated you.”

Arya smiled back, her eyes filled with kindness. The two women hugged each other tightly, their faces radiant with warmth and understanding.

Arya entered the room, her eyes scanning the space until they landed on Karan, seated on the bed, engrossed in a phone conversation. His face lit up with a warm smile, and his eyes sparkled with delight.

“Yes, I can’t wait to see you too,” he said, his voice filled with affection. “I miss your hugs, your kisses, and everything.”

Arya stood frozen, waiting for him to finish his conversation. Karan’s smile grew wider as he continued talking.

“Sure, I’ll see you this weekend, and we’ll spend it together. I love you so much,” he said, sending kisses over the phone before hanging up.

As he turned to face Arya, his expression transformed, his eyes turning icy cold.

“Um, Karan, can I talk to you for a second?” Arya sputtered nervously, her eyes avoiding his.

“What do you want?” he asked coldly.

Arya’s face faltered, but she continued, her voice trembling. “I want to talk to you about Grandma. She’s deeply hurt and sad about the distance you’ve created between you two.”

“And whose fault is that?” he yelled, his voice echoing through the room.

She took a step back, her eyes wide with fear. “I’m sorry, don’t be too offended. I know everything that’s happened wasn’t Grandma’s fault. I’m the one you hate; you can pour your anger on me. I don’t care, but Grandma… she needs her grandson back. Please, Karan.”

Karan’s anger boiled over, his face red with rage. “Get out!”

    Arya flinched. “Huh?” she stuttered.

“I said get out! Don’t you dare step foot in here again!”he bellowed, throwing a pillow at her.

Arya turned and fled the room.

    ___________♥♥♥♥____________

Karan and his siblings were lounging in the living room, chatting and laughing together, while their parents took a nap in their room. Grandma Viti had left to visit some old friends.

As they chatted, Karan suddenly called out to one of the workers in the house, who rushed to answer him quickly.

“Call Arya for me,” Karan said, his voice unfriendly.

The worker hurried outside to call Arya, who was in the garden watering the flowers.

“Mrs. Arya, your husband requests your presence,” the worker said politely.

Arya smiled and followed the worker inside. As she entered the living room, Karan didn’t even glance at her.

“You sent for me?” Arya asked, standing before them.

Karan’s face remained cold. “Go get us something to drink.”

Arya nodded and headed to the kitchen to prepare the drinks. Maya stood up to join her.

“Excuse me,” Maya said, following Arya to the kitchen.

“You sent for her just to get us drinks?”Ved asked confusedly.

     “What’s wrong with that?”Sonia shrugged.

     “It’s not right. What’s the worker’s job for?”Ved frowned.

Karan’s face twisted in annoyance. “She’s doing what she’s supposed to do in this house.”

Kiara nodded in agreement. “She’s the daughter-in-law, so it’s her job.”

Just then, Arya and Maya returned with the drinks and served each of them on the table.

As Arya turned to leave, Karan called her back. She turned to him, but was caught off guard as Karan splashed the drink on her face.

Everyone was shocked, their eyes wide with surprise.

“Are you blind? Didn’t you see there’s dirt in the glass cup you served me drink with?” Karan yelled, his face red with rage.

Ved’s eyes widened in surprise. “Karan!”

“I’m sorry, I washed all the cups before serving drinks in them.” Arya said.

“Are you saying I’m lying?” he yelled.

Maya intervened, trying to calm the situation. “Karan, that’s enough. It’s probably a mistake.”

“Get me another drink, and when you come back, bring something to clean this place up.”He said

Arya walked away, feeling embarrassed and humiliated.

“That was unfair, Karan. She’s your wife, for heaven’s sake.”Ved said concerned.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what Karan did. He was just trying to correct her.”Sia said nonchalantly.

Maya and Ved stared at Sia in surprise, while the rest of the family nodded in agreement with him.

A moment later, Arya returned with Karan’s drink and served him, her eyes cast downward. After serving him, she started cleaning up the drink on the floor, her movements quiet and efficient. Once she finished, she left for her room to change her clothes.

As she changed in the bathroom, She tried to control her tears from falling, her face etched with sadness and frustration.

Later in the evening, everyone gathered at the dining table, ready to eat the food prepared by Arya and Zara. After serving everyone, Karan emerged dressed casually, ready to leave.

“Are you leaving?” Gian asked, his eyebrows raised in surprise.

Karan nodded. “Yes, Uncle, I’m meeting with some business partners.”

“At this time? It’s past six.”Jash frowned.

“You should eat something first.”Roshni said.

“No, Mom, I’m late. See you later.”

With that, he walked away, leaving the family to exchange worried glances.

Grandma Viti noticed Arya’s sad mood and caressed her hand to ease her sadness. She sat down next to Grandma, and they began eating.

    ★★Hotel★★

Karan arrived at the hotel, where he met up with Samara in their usual room. After spending time together, they cuddled under the blanket.

“Please, Karan, don’t leave me tonight,” Samara said, her voice filled with longing.

“No, love, I’ll stay with you tonight.”He smiled, his eyes filled with affection.

“Thank you so much.” She cuddled him warmly, and they drifted off to sleep.

    ★★KABIR’S MANSION★★

Arya sat alone in the living room, waiting for Karan to return home. Since he left earlier that day, it was past midnight, and he hadn’t returned. She looked worried, her eyes filled with concern.

Just then, Grandma Viti appeared at the staircase, a look of surprise on her face. “Arya.”

    Arya turned to her. “Grandma.”

        Viti walked over to Arya.

“Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be in your bedroom with your husband?”

“Grandma, Karan is not back from the meeting he went to earlier today.” She sighed, her face etched with worry.

Viti’s expression turned surprised. “At this time?”

Arya nodded. Viti pulled out her phone and dialed Karan’s number, but it was switched off.

“Did he pick?” Arya asked curiously.

“His phone is switched off.” She dialed his other number, but the same thing happened. “His two numbers are switched off. Maybe the meeting took long. Go inside and sleep; I’m sure he’ll be home tomorrow.”

“Okay, Grandma.”She nodded, her face still etched with worry.

Viti stared after her as she left, a concerned expression on her face. She sighed before heading to her room.
