Everyone stared at me in shock….. 

What’s that little thing doing here? Who permitted this maggot? The wicked miss Claire yelled but I paid no attention to her. 

I walked boldly and confidently to the judge 

Mia! What are you doing here baby? Come over here… Jenna said as she tried taking me away but i refused. 

Little girl! What have you to say in this case? The judge asked politely and shocked by my bravery. 

My sister is innocent! She didn’t do anything, she never poisoned that wicked miss… I screamed pointing at Claire 

Why are we wasting our precious time on this little witch? Throw her out! This is not a children’s playground… Claire said 

Mia! Baby… What are you doing? My atee asked in tears 

Here! I said as i brought out the USB and everyone gasped.

This is my evidence to prove that my sister is innocent of the accusations… I said courageously

Who gave you that you brat! Claire yelled as she quickly rushed to hold me but the officer’s held her back. 

She quickly grabbed me by my neck and took out a gun which she pointed straight to my skull. 

Mia! Claire please don’t hurt my baby sister, she’s the only family I have…. My sister cried bitterly

I know that my secret is out so I don’t want to be jailed that is the reason why i was using Mia so that I wouldn’t be arrested. 

If you dare come close to me, I will shoot her…. I screamed as the officers drew back.. 

Claire! How could you? Mom asked in shame 

Don’t shoot her Claire please am begging you 

..Maja kept crying on her knees. 

Don’t hurt my baby… Jenna wailed 

The USB was played and everyone spat on me  for my wickedness. 

But my only concern is to escape from the police since they all surrounded me. 

I walked backwards still holding Mia’s neck with the gun I pointed on her head. 

Drop your gun! I said keep it down now…. I ordered the police and they did. 

Mia was crying and so was her sister Maja, while Marco was holding his crying wife. 

I quickly pushed Mia away and ran as fast as I could. 

Then I heard a loud gunshot…. 🔥 🔥 

The bullet shot straight to my neck from behind and I struggled to stand but I couldn’t I was already loosing my breath. 

The Corps shot me and i landed on the ground. 

CLAIRE! That was my mom’s voice but I was already giving up. 

I was in the pool of my own blood as Mia hugged her sister and Marco tightly. 

Slowly, I closed my eyes for the last time on earth and gave up a ghost 👻 

                     <Maja’s Pov>

I couldn’t believe Mia is so brave enough to defend me like this. 

Though I felt bad cos of Claire’s fate. 

Am so sorry Maja! We are really sorry for all we made you go through not knowing that you are innocent…. Mr and Mrs Avelino my husband’s parents begged me as i quickly hugged them and they shook my baby sister for her bravery.

Two years later, we walked together to the cemetery with flowers.

Marco was carrying one of our twin baby and I was carrying the other one. 

Patricia and Patrick were just a year old… they are our children. 

My mother in law quickly carried chuckling Patricia from me. 

Marco, Mr Avelino, Mrs Avelino, Jenna and Mia walked straight to the grave of Claire and kept our flowers with tears running down our cheeks 

We miss you Claire! We said in unison and giggled 

Marco wrapped his hand on my waist and I kissed his cheek. 

Mr Grumpy! I teased him and he smiled cheerfully 

Mr Grumpy’s heartbeat 💕…he said and I laughed 

We entered the car and drove off

Mamang, Carla and James knelt down in front of the mansion pleading for forgiveness telling me that Mamang has kidney infection and they need money for her treatment. 

Like we know, it’s bad to pay evil with evil so I only told them to stand and wrote a cheque of five million. 

You are forgiven! I said as we group hugged…

Am finally Mrs Maja Marco Avelino, the title everyone wished but I got it….

Grnnnnnnnnn…..🔔 Grnnnnnnn….🔔 

My alarm clock rang aloud as i quickly turned it off and got up from the bed. I headed straight to my drawers and brought out a bottle of balm. 

I smiled mischievously as i quickly opened the balm and rubbed it all over my body. 

Yuck! I just hate the smell I perceive from this fucking balm but I have to apply it if I want my plans to work…. I said to myself as i finished applying the balm and kept it back into the drawer. 

I sat on my seat in front of my dressing mirror… 

I brought out my makeup kit and applied some mascara on eyelid and under my eyes. 

I smiled devilishly as I kept it back and sank into my bed in excitement. 

First mission accomplished! I laughed as I quickly used my duvet to wrap myself around.

Some minutes later, I heard a footstep, probably coming to my room.

I pretended to be shivering as mom knocked on my door. 

Come… Come… In…. I said with a shaky voice of course it was a pretence. 

Claire aren’t you going to the office today? And you are still fast asleep? Mom asked as she walked towards me. 

Am…. Am not feeling well mom… I… I stammered 

Oh my goodness! Claire!! Baby are you OK? You look pale… Mom said as i smiled to myself 

She’s really falling for the act…. I thought 

I don’t think i will be able to make it to the office today mommy, am not feeling fine… I said slowly and weakly 

Uhmm… Let me call the doctor! Or do you want to go see the doctor? Mom asked anxiously feeling really worried 

No! Not all mommy! Actually I took some medicine and I know am gonna get better soon, it’s just a slight headache and fever…. I said 

No baby! You need to go see the doctor… Mom insisted 

Mommy you don’t have to worry! Am no longer baby mom! Am a lady now.. I said 

Are you sure Claire? Are you sure you that you don’t wanna see a doctor? Mom asked 

I will be fine mom! I said 

Alright baby! Your brother is all set to leave for the office and so am I… Mommy said and I smiled to myself 

And Maja? I asked anxiously 

She’s gonna stay at home at least to rest cos your brother says he don’t want her stressed out… Mom said 

OK mom! Bye…i said as mommy left the room and I jumped for joy. 

And now am home alone with that freak, am gonna teach her a terrible lesson… I laughed 

                      <Maja’s Pov>

I pecked him and helped his fix his tie very well… 

Baby! I really want to come with you, am going to be bored here.. I said as Marco smiled at me and kissed my neck 

Come on now! Love I don’t want you to be stressed out, I want you to rest and don’t worry someday we will be going to work together OK honey, you won’t feel lonely cos Claire is home today because she’s sick… He said as i nodded 

Alright sweetie! Have a nice day… I said as he eyed me romantically then quickly glued his lips to mine. 

Am gonna miss you baby… he said 

Come on now, go to work or you’ll be late… I hit him playfully. 

Marco! Where are you son? That was his mom’s voice from outside 

Go ahead now… I said as we parted lips and air kissed each other and he left.

I was watching TV at the sitting room downstairs when I heard my name from upstairs 

Maja! Maja!! That was Claire’s voice to be precise 

I rushed upstairs to her room to answer her. 

I opened her door and found her lying on the bed. 

Yes! You called me? I asked her 

Are you this heartless Maja? How could you be so cruel? She asked as I looked at her confused 

Heartless? Cruel? How do you mean? I asked her 

You know that am sick right? She asked 

Yes! Marco told me… I said 

I haven’t eaten since morning Maja, go and prepare something for me… She said 

But the maids are there to do that… I said a

but she cut me off 

Are you talking back at me now Maja? For your information I sent them on leave today… She said 

Go to the kitchen and prepare something for me… she said as i left and headed straight to the kitchen. 

                   <Claire’s Pov>

After today, you will regret being married into this family and Marco cannot save you… I laughed as she left my room. 

I brought out a file and smiled mischievously… 

It’s mommy’s file and i hid it so that she will come back to the house to get it. 

It’s very important so mom must come back for it definitely. 

Few minutes later, Maja told me that the food is ready. 

She called me to eat at the dinning but I told her to bring it to my room which she did. 

I opened the plate and spooned some food into my mouth 

Suddenly, I gave out a loud shout as startled Maja rushed to me. 

Claire! Are you OK? She asked worriedly as i started screaming and held my belly. 

And started vomiting blood…. of course i planned that also. 

Claire talk to me what’s wrong? She cried as Mom who came back for the file rushed into my room on hearing Maja’s voice and my shout. 

Mom quickly pushed aside Maja and rushed to me… 

Baby! What happened? she said but I quickly collapsed 

Maja what happened to her? Mom asked crying 

I don’t know mom, I actually made her breakfast and… Maja cried

I was rushed to the hospital and mom and crying Maja waited at the lobby. 

Shortly, the doctor came out of the emergency room and mom rushed to him. 

Doctor! what happened to my baby? Mom asked anxiously 

Is she OK? Maja cried 

It’s a case of FOOD POISONING ma’am, did anyone serve her food? the doctor said as mom’s jaw dropped and Maja stood in agape 

Mom quickly turned to crying Maja. 

How could you? Was all mom could say in tears….

I was already wet from the rain as I rushed into the slum house where we are living with an empty basket of dried fish. 

I picked up a towel hanged on the door and cleaned my body and face still shivering in cold. 

Atee! Atee!!  That was my younger sister Mia’s voice from inside the room, Mia was just eight years old. Her voice pale and weak too. 

Mia! Mia!! I called as i rushed into the room and saw her lying on the bed and shivering. 

Mia are you OK? Oh my goodness you are so hot, I think you’re down with fever… I cried 

Have you eaten? I asked worriedly 

No atee! I haven’t eaten except for the piece of fish you gave me this morning before leaving… Mia said with shaky voice 

What? But I gave Mamang money for food… I said but before Mia could open her mouth to speak again, Mamang (mother) walked in staggering. 

Shut up you ungrateful little witch! She shouted at Mia as she belched mannerlessly and i quickly covered my nose with my palms cos of the stench of alcohol that came from her mouth. 

Mamang! I called her with our slang word for mother “Mamang”

What is it silly? Mamang  smirked 

Mia is starving but I gave you some money to buy food for… I said crying 

Shut your trap! You are such a drama queen huh Maja… Well since Mia ate fish in the morning and I needed to gamble so that I can win, I used the money for gambling it was an important bet too… Mamang said coughing disgustingly 

I can’t just believe this woman! I said to myself 

But Mamang you know Mia has ulcer, it is not advisable for her to starve…. I cried 

Shut your gob you bunch of morons! She kicked me roughly 

That’s by the way, where is the money you made from today’s sales? She asked 

Mia is starving and she’s sick too so I will use it to buy some medicine and food for her… I said 

Really? Mamang mocked as she snatched my bag from me and stormed out of the room. 

Atee! What are we going to eat now? Mia cried as i got up, locked the door and put off my shoe and pulled out some money from my shoe. 

Atee! You still have money? Mia smiled 

Of course i know that Mamang will take the money so I hid this in my shoe, go on now lie down let me go buy some food and drugs for you… I said as Mia lay down and I rushed out. 

Though the rain has subsided, but I was still feeling cold. 

I headed straight to the pharmacy to get drugs for Mia. 

I was walking absentmindedly on the road thinking of Mia’s sickness and all the misfortune we have been through. 

By the way, I forgot to introduce myself well my name is Maja Locsin, am 20 years old and Mia is my only sibling, she’s just eight years old. 

You might also be thinking who Mamang is right? 

Well our real mother died while giving birth to Mia eight years ago. 

Then dad was alive so he married Mamang whose real name is Jodi Locsin but Mia and I call her Mamang. 

Mamang gave birth to no child cos dad died after a year of getting married to our step mother who is an addicted gambler and a drunk. 

Just six months after dad’s death, Mamang brought in two of her children to the house, Carla and James. 

She gave birth to them while she was still in her parent’s house, I mean they are love children, James and Carla are not from the same father. 

Carla is 23 while James is 25 years old… Just like Mamang, her children were equally wayward and touts all they do is to smoke and party around. 

Life with Mamang and her children have been hell, I had no choice but all I care about is Mia and myself cos we really need to survive. 

That was the reason why i dropped out of school and started hawking dried fish in the market because the last person I would want to starve is Mia. 

I love her so much and wouldn’t want her to be sick, she’s my only family. 

Oops! I’ve been talking and guess what! I walked past the pharmacy where I was going to buy drugs. 

I ran back to the pharmacy. 

Good evening nurse! I greeted the lady in white gown. 

Owww! I have always loved to be a nurse and when dad was alive he promised to help me fulfill my dreams of becoming a nurse.

But that will never happen cos i have no money and besides am the one paying and catering for Mia my little sister. 

Yes dear! How may i help you? the nurse asked with a lovely smile 

I need some drugs, my younger sister who’s eight years old has a fever and she has ulcer too… I said 

OK… she said as suddenly my eye caught with the television hung on the wall in the pharmacy. 

“THE FILIPINOS MOST STYLISH, THE CUTEST PRINCE CHARMING, THE SECOND RICHEST IN PHILIPPINES SIR MARCO AVELINO IS FINALLY BACK IN THE PHILIPPINES” The news was boldly read as his picture was shown in the television screen… It got me drooling 😜

Awwwnnn… My Marco! I said smiling to myself

Isn’t that crazy? 😂😂

Well one day you will fall in love and see how it feels but I pray you don’t fall for someone who doesn’t even know that somebody like you exists just like me…  

Just then, I heard a thrilling noise from behind and turned around it was two young girls both were friends I guess. 

Oh Marco Avelino! My biggest crush, my boyfriend to be… One of them yelled to my greatest surprise 

Will you shut up, you know I said it first that he’s mine… The other one quarreled 

Are they for real? is it my Marco they are fighting for? I asked myself 

You are so stupid! One of them said and slapped the other 

How dare you boyfriend snatcher! They started fighting and dragging each others hair 

Geez! They are so crazy… I smiled to myself as people rushed to them to separate them 

Like seriously? These ladies are really something fighting over someone who doesn’t know of their existence? My own Marco for that matter… I laughed 

I just know that we all are day dreaming anyways cos Marco sure will never stoop so low to talk to people like us, we are not his type… I laughed aloud this time…
