The next day, Shawn was discharged from the hospital and brought home, Sofia and Troy were surprised by what happened to him, their faces shocked and worried.

Shawn was taken to his room and lay down on the bed properly, his face pale and weak. Troy’s face was concerned, his eyes filled with worry. “What happened to you?” he asked.

Sofia sat next to Shawn, her face worried, her eyes filled with anxiety. Shawn’s face was calm, his eyes serene. “I was attacked last night,” he said.

Troy’s face was shocked, his eyes wide with surprise. Sofia’s face was horrified, her eyes filled with fear. “What? By who?” Sofia asked, her voice trembling.

Shawn’s face was reassuring, his eyes calm. “I don’t know, but I am fine now,” he said.

Troy’s face was exasperated, his eyes rolling in frustration. “Oh no, Shawn, for goodness sake, how many enemies do you have?” he asked.

Sofia’s face was curious, her eyes filled with inquiry. “Why did you decide not to tell us last night?” she asked.

Shawn’s face was gentle, his eyes smiling. “Because I don’t want you guys to get worried,” he said.

Troy and Sofia sighed tiredly, their faces relieved but still worried.

Some minutes later, Sofia came to Shawn’s room with some fruits salad, her face smiling, her eyes warm. She sat next to him, and Shawn smiled after her, his face grateful.

“Why aren’t you in school today?” he asked, his voice weak but curious.

Her face was happy, her eyes sparkling. “I got no class today, so I’m free,” she said. “Here, have some,” he said, as Sofia handed him the fruits salad.

“Thank you,” he said, taking the fruits salad from her and starting to eat.

Her face was concerned, her eyes filled with worry. “Does it hurt?” she asked, seeing the bandage wrapped around his tummy.

     “A little,” he said reassuring.

“Is someone after your life? Did Sly return to hunt you because of me?” she asked, her voice trembling.

He looked at her with a reassuring smile. “No, I don’t know who they are, but my men are working on it,” he said.

She frowned, her eyes filled with worry. “This is bad, what if it was more than this, what if the bullet aimed through your head?” she asked, her voice trembling.

He chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “You worry too much,” he said, smiling. “I can’t die now when I have too many enemies to take care of. If it was my fate to die, I would have died thirty years ago when I was found unconscious by my foster dad.”

She looked at him with tears in her eyes. “But I am scared,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

He leaned in and kissed her forehead, his lips warm and gentle. “Don’t be,” he said. “I will be here.”

They hugged each other warmly, holding each other tightly.

“You promise me that you will never get hurt again,” she said, her voice muffled against his chest.

He pulled back and looked at her, his eyes serious. “I can’t promise you that, but I promise to stay alive for you, and you have to promise me you will stay by my side.”

She nodded, her eyes shining with tears. “I promise,” she said.

They pulled away from each other and locked eyes, their faces inches apart. They leaned in closer and kissed, their lips meeting in a soft, gentle touch. They returned to cuddling each other, holding each other tightly.

Later that same day, Sofia came to visit her family after they called her, she took permission from Shawn and he assigned a guard to go with her. When they drove into the compound, she came down to see a huge man with a pot belly (Smith) stumbling out of the house with his men behind him. Then he stopped to lock eyes with her, and Sofia could see his piercing gaze on her. He let out a smirk and entered the car and drove off with his men.

Sofia’s face was confused, her eyes furrowed in inquiry. She wondered who he was, and she ran inside while her assigned guard waited behind by the car, safeguarding the area.

She rushed inside to see the trauma her family was in, and immediately they met eyes with her, they hugged her quickly. Sofia’s face was worried, her eyes filled with concern.

“What is going on?” she asked, her voice urgent.

They pulled away from her, their faces serious. Lucas’s face was grave, his eyes somber. “Listen to me, Violet, I think you have to come with us and let’s leave this country,” he said.

Sofia’s face was confused, her eyes wide with surprise. “Leave? Why? What trouble are you guys in again, and who was that man I saw leaving the house?” she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.

Diana’s face was curious, her eyes sparkling with interest. “You saw him?” she asked.

Sofia’s face was serious, her eyes stern. “Yes, I just met him, and he looked at me with a mischievous look,” she said.

Her family’s faces were panicked, their eyes wide with fear. “Oh no, this is not happening, we got no time to remain here, we have to leave,” Grandma said, her face worried.

Sofia’s face was angry, her eyes blazing with fury. “What have you guys done this time? Did you steal money from him, and now he is after your lives?” she asked, her voice accusatory.

Lucas’s face was nervous, his eyes darting back and forth. “No, we didn’t do that,” he said.

She could see the lies in their eyes. “You guys are lying, I thought you guys had changed, but I guess I was wrong,” she said, her voice disappointed.

She tried to leave, but they held her back. Grandma’s face was pleading, her eyes filled with tears. “Please, don’t go, hear us out,” she said.

Sofia’s face was frustrated, her eyes narrowed in annoyance. “Hear, what’s out? What trouble are you guys in this time?” she asked, her voice firm.

Diana’s face was serious, her eyes filled with worry. “You have to come with us, we are no longer safe here, and you too,” she said, her voice trembling. “The man you are living with, will end our lives once he knows the truth.”

“What are you talking about, Mom?” she asked, her voice laced with confusion. Her family’s faces were avoiding her gaze, their eyes darting around the room. Her face was suspicious, her eyes narrowing. “What are you guys hiding?” she asked, her voice firm.

Grandma’s face was calm, her eyes soothing. “Nothing, dear, just calm down,” she said, trying to reassure Sofia.

“Don’t tell me to calm down, Grandma!” she snapped, her voice loud.

Her family’s faces were taken aback, their eyes wide with surprise. Sofia’s face was determined, her eyes staring hard at them. “Tell me what you guys have done, and why will Shawn want to kill us if he finds out the truth?” she asked, “What truth, Mom?”

Her family’s faces were nervous, their eyes gulping anxiously, knowing this was the time to spill out the truth to her.

Shawn was taking a nap at the garden, sipping from his juice, his face relaxed, his eyes closed. Troy came over, dressed up to leave, a smile on his face.

“There you are,” Troy said, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

Shawn stared at him, his eyes opening lazily, a hint of a smile on his face. “You look good today, are you going out?” he asked, his voice laced with amusement.

Troy’s face was confident, his eyes shining with excitement. “Yes, I am hanging out with Mabel,” he said, his voice filled with pride.

Shawn’s face was teasing, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Wow, nice, did she agree to go with you or you forced her,” he teased, a smirk on his face.

Troy rolled his eyes at him, his face exasperated. “Don’t get it wrong, bro, I am serious with her, and I want to make the best out of it,” he said, his voice sincere.

“Well, I wish you luck with that,” he said, his voice laced with sarcasm.

“I am not going to allow you to ruin my chances today, I will be needing one of your cars,” he said, his voice firm.

His look was generous, his eyes smiling. “Sure, go ahead,” he said, waving his hand in permission.

“You are the best, don’t miss me too much, okay?” he said, his voice teasing.

He scoffed,”Don’t bother,” he said, his voice laced with sarcasm.

“Alright, buddy, see you later, and don’t forget to take your medication,” he said, his voice teasing.

Shawn’s face was playful, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “I heard you, Dad,” he teased, his voice laced with sarcasm.

They smiled at each other, their faces filled with warmth and affection, before Troy left.

Shawn was busy in his office, his eyes fixed on the documents in front of him, when his PA entered with some files. “Here is the file you requested for,” he said, placing it on the table in front of Shawn.

Shawn’s face was calm as he asked, “What time is my next meeting?”

His PA replied, “By 2 pm, sir.”

Shawn nodded, his eyes still fixed on the documents. “Okay, you can go,” he said, and the PA left.

Not too long after, someone knocked on the door, and Shawn asked the person to enter without looking up to see who it was. “Hey, Shawn,” Rachel called, and Shawn raised his face up to her, his eyes widening in surprise.

His brow furrowed in concern. “What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice cautious.

“Please, just listen to me, I mean no harm,” she said, her eyes locked on Shawn’s.

“Then why are you here?” he asked, his eyes narrowing.

Rachel’s face was hopeful. “Can I at least sit?” she asked, and Shawn stared at her, his expression unreadable.

Meanwhile, Sofia and Mabel were chatting in the class after the lecture was over. Mabel’s face was teasing.

“Your mood since yesterday is so overwhelming, tell me, is he back?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

“What are you talking about?” she asked, her voice casual. Her eyes avoiding Mabel’s gaze.

Mabel’s smile was knowing. “I am talking about Shawn, is he back from his trip? I know that’s the reason for your happy mood,” she said, her eyes locked on Sofia’s.

Her face was calm, her voice firm. “Yes, he is back, but that’s not the reason why I’m happy,” she said, still avoiding Mabel’s gaze.

“Hmmm, so are you two together now?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Sofia’s face was expressionless, her eyes fixed on a spot, ignoring Mabel’s question. “Answer me, Sofia!” She exclaimed, her voice rising in excitement.

Sofia’s face turned bright red as she sputtered nervously. “We are not fully together.”

“So, you guys are already seeing each other?” she asked, her brow raised.

Her face was sheepish. “Maybe,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

“Aww! That’s so cute! I am rooting for the two of you, you two look perfect together,” she said, her eyes shining with enthusiasm. Sofia’s face broke into a smile, her eyes sparkling with happiness.

Back to Rachel and Shawn, Rachel’s face fell as she sat down, her eyes fixed on Shawn’s. Shawn’s expression was calm, his eyes gentle.

“I have no hatred towards you, you are forgiven, but that doesn’t mean we can still be seeing each other,” he said, his voice firm but gentle.

“Why? I thought you had forgiven me,” she asked, her voice trembling. her eyes welling up in tears.

“Yes, I have, but we can’t be together anymore,” he said, his voice firm.

“Please Shawn, don’t do this to me, I know I did a terrible thing, just give me another space in your life and I will make things right this time,” she pleaded, her voice cracking.

“It’s too late, Rachel…we were never compatible, I only agreed to be with you because of the favor your dad did for me years back…I promise to pay him in another way, but not this way, I’m sorry,” he said, his voice firm but gentle.

Rachel’s face crumpled, her body shaking with sobs. “I love you Shawn, what do you want me to do now?” she sniffled.

Some hours later, after school hours, Sofia and Mabel were coming out of the school building when they caught sight of Shawn standing next to his car, looking attractive while on the phone with someone. A lot of ladies passing by were drooling over him.

Mabel’s eyes widened in admiration. “Woah! He looks so cute! You are damn lucky girl, look at the way everyone is drooling over him,” she said, her voice filled with excitement.

“Why is he here?” she asked, her voice casual. her eyes fixed on Shawn.

Mabel’s face was teasing. “What kind of silly question is that? To take you home, of course…or to take you somewhere romantic,” she said, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

As they saw him walking towards them, everyone’s eyes widened in curiosity, wondering where he was going. Mabel’s face lit up with excitement.

“Oh my, he is coming to you,” she said, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

He walked up to them, his face calm and collected. “Are you done for today?” he asked, his eyes fixed on Sofia.

Mabel’s face broke into a smile. “Hi, Shawn,” she said, her voice cheerful.

He smiled back at her. “How are you?” he asked, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Mabel’s face was radiant. “I’m fine,” she said, before turning to Sofia, who was looking shy, avoiding the students’ gaze. She leaned in to whisper in Sofia’s ear. “Alright Sofia, see you on Monday… don’t forget to make this weekend with him memorable,” she said, her eyes sparkling with mischief, before smirking and walking away.

He turned to Sofia, his face gentle. “Shall we?” he asked, stretching out his hand.

Sofia’s face was hesitant, but she eventually took his hand, and they walked away, with students admiring them. As they got to the car, he ordered the driver to go, and they drove off. Sofia’s face was curious.

“Why are you in my school?” she asked, facing him.

He smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Because I am having dinner with you,” he said, his voice low and husky.

Some minutes later, they arrived at a fancy restaurant. Sofia’s eyes widened in amazement as she stepped out of the car and held his arm, walking inside. Their reservation table was already set in the VIP section. Few people in the restaurant drooled over them as they walked to their table, and a waiter was already there to attend to them. As they made their order, Sofia’s face was impressed.

“Wow, this place is amazing,” she said, her eyes sparkling with wonder.

He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “You like it?” he asked, his voice gentle.

Her face broke into a smile. “Yes, this place is cool,” she said, her eyes shining with excitement.

Just then, a waiter came with their order. “I am so sorry for the delay,” the waiter said, and Sofia caught the familiar voice as she raised her face to the waiter.

Her eyes widened in surprise. “Mom?” she called, shocked, and Diana’s eyes met hers, her face equally shocked.

Later, they arrived home, and Sofia stepped inside, her face still reflecting the shock and surprise she had encountered at the restaurant. Her eyes were distant, and her brow was furrowed in concern.

He watched her, his face filled with concern. “Are you okay?” he asked, his voice gentle.

Sofia’s face forced a smile, her eyes avoiding his. “Yes, I am tired, let me freshen up,” she said, her voice strained.

She walked away, leaving him staring after her, his eyes filled with worry. His face was calm, but his eyes betrayed his concern for her. He stood there for a moment, watching her disappear into the depths of the house.

Shawn sighed and turned to go to his room, his face reflecting his concern for Sofia. As he walked, his cellphone rang, breaking the silence. He stopped and pulled out his phone, his eyes scanning the screen to find a strange number.

His brow furrowed in curiosity, he picked up the call. “Hello?” he said, his voice cautious, as he waited for the other person to speak.

There was a pause, and then a familiar voice boomed from the other end of the phone. “Hello, brother!” the voice said, and Shawn’s eyes widened in surprise as he recognized the voice.

His face lit up with a mixture of emotions – surprise, curiosity, and a hint of wariness. He stood still, his eyes fixed on a spot, as he waited to hear more from the person on the other end of the call.

Shawn and his men kept doing everything possible to find Sofia, and the police were involved too.

Mabel returned home that day, her face etched with sadness, and her family wondered what was wrong with her.

Mrs. Ruth’s brow furrowed with concern. “What’s wrong? Why are you looking like this?”

Mabel’s eyes dropped, her voice barely above a whisper. “Mom, something went wrong.”

V’s face twisted with curiosity. “What happened?”

Mabel’s face scrunched in worry. “It’s Sofia, she is missing.”

    The family exchanged confused glances.

    V’s eyes narrowed. “Missing? How?”

Mabel’s face fell, her eyes welling up with tears. “No one knows where she went, there is no trace about her.”

Rachel’s face was skeptical. “How is that possible? Did she run away?”

Mabel shook her head. “I don’t know.”

Mr. Mark’s face was thoughtful. “I am sure she ran away.”

Mabel’s eyes flashed with disagreement. “I don’t think so, Sofia will never run away, why will she even think of running away?”

V’s face was speculative. “Probably wants to be free from Shawn.”

Rachel’s face nodded in agreement. “Exactly! I guess so too.”

Mabel’s face was unconvinced. “I still don’t think so, someone must have kidnapped her.” She thought for a while, then turned to face Rachel, her eyes narrowing. “Do you have anything to do with this?”

Rachel’s face turned red with anger. “Excuse you! What’s that supposed to mean?”

Her face was calm. “Well, I am just curious to know, you know you and Shawn just broke up, and you might be bitter to think Sofia took your place.”

Mr.Mark’s face twisted in outrage. “And you think she had something to do with her disappearance?”

Rachel’s face was surprised. “You are unbelievable”.She was furious as she stood up and left for her room.

V sighed, his face confused. “Why will you think that of her?”

Meanwhile, Shawn sat in his mini bar, drinking and thinking of how to find Sofia. His face was etched with worry, his eyes scanning the room as if searching for answers.

“Where are you Sofia? Why can’t I find you?” He said sadly, his voice laced with desperation, and took another gulp of his drink.

“Please be safe,” he whispered, his eyes closing in a silent prayer.

Back to Sofia and the ladies, they were still kept inside the dark room, their minds occupied with what their captors wanted to do with them.

First lady’s face was twisted with fear. “Why are they keeping us here? Are they going to kill us?”

Third lady’s voice trembled. “I hope not, I don’t want to die yet.”

Second lady’s face was streaked with tears. “Me too, my family will be so worried about me.”

Sofia’s face was grim. “There is no escape, I am scared of what they will do to us.”

Fourth lady’s eyes were closed, her voice barely above a whisper. “We just have to pray for a savior to come to our aid.”

They sighed, their faces etched with despair.

Just then, three masked guys entered the room, and the ladies flinched in fear as they moved to them and dragged them up. They struggled hard.

“Let me go!” First lady cried out, her face contorted in terror.

They dragged them out along the narrow passage. Sofia’s eyes scanned the area, her face set in determination.

They arrived in a wider room with red light, their eyes meeting a man seated on a chair in the blur room, his back against them, and was smoking.

“Boss,” one of the masked guys called, and the boss gestured his hand for them to go ahead.

They bowed and dragged the ladies outside the building. A big van was waiting for them. They opened the back and dragged the ladies inside, then made them fall asleep as they sprayed something inside the van and locked it up.

Before they joined the driver in the car and drove off.

At school, one of the professors was secretly on the phone with someone. His face was hidden in the shadows, his voice low.

“How is it going? Any progress?” He asked on the phone, and a deep voice replied from the other end of the phone.

“Yes, everything is set, I love the ladies you brought this time, I know our customers will love them.”

The professor smiled, his eyes gleaming with greed.

“You know I never failed on my task, but nevertheless, I will be coming to the club tonight to have my own share of them too.”

“Sure, better be fast about it. I will transfer your balance of the deal to you later on.”

“Sure, I will be expecting that,” the professor said, his face twisted in anticipation.

“Make sure no one finds out, and after this deal is done, I will let you know when to get me another group of ladies.”

“Not to worry, I got you,” the professor said, smiling, and they hung up.

     _____

Some hours later, Sofia and the ladies were being brought to a casino bar where ladies were being exchanged with money to foreigners and then moved to another country as a sex slave. Sofia and the ladies were standing in front of the stage, dressed in mini wear, their faces vacant, their eyes glassy. They had been injected with hard drugs that made them unaware of their surroundings or what they were doing.

The men in the crowd were ogling them, their faces twisted with lust. Alot of advanced men were contented with what they were seeing and were willingly to pay any amount to get them. Everywhere was filled with laughter, cheering as the auction of the ladies began.

First lady was brought forward, her eyes unfocused, her face expressionless. A price tag of $300 (three hundred dollars) was placed on her head.

“I will pay,” a voice said from the crowd, its owner’s face eager.

Another voice increased the demand, “I will pay $500!”

The bidding continued until the lady was sold out to the winner, her fate sealed.

It continued until it was Sofia’s turn, her price tag higher because she was more attractive than the rest of the ladies. The men in the crowd ogled her, their faces twisted with lust.

“I will pay $1,000,000 (one million dollars),” a voice said, its owner’s face eager.

Another voice crept in, ” $5,000,000 (five million dollars)”.

The bidding continued, the men’s faces growing more and more anxious, until Sofia was sold to the winner.

The winner, a portly man with a greedy glint in his eye, ordered his boys to take Sofia to one of the rooms. They obeyed, dragging Sofia away.

Sofia was taken to a room designed beautifully with red petals and red lights everywhere. The men made her sit down on the bed, waiting.

Not too long after, the advanced man entered, his pot belly jiggling as he moved. He started to undo his clothes, his face twisted with anticipation.

“I can’t wait to have you, my sweet Angel,” he said, his voice dripping with lust.

He left to the bathroom to freshen up, leaving Sofia alone.

Sofia, who had been looking idle, felt a tear stream down her eyes. Her face crumpled, her eyes welling up with tears as the reality of her situation hit her.

At the dining table, Sofia avoided eye contact with Shawn, who kept smirking at her.

“What did you do to Rachel?” she asked, her brow furrowed in concern.

Shawn’s smirk deepened. “Back to where she belongs.”

“What are you going to do now?”She asked, Her gaze remained fixed on her plate.

Shawn’s eyes locked onto Sofia’s. “Focus on you.” Sofia’s head jerked up, her eyes widening in surprise. “What, are you surprised?”

“What do you mean?” Her face scrunched in confusion.

“Exactly what you heard.” His tone was matter-of-fact. His eyes remained fixed on Sofia, his gaze piercing.

      “Please don’t focus on me.”

His smirk returned. “Why not?” He teased, his tone playful.

      “Can we change the topic?”

His eyes sparkled with amusement. “Do you want to?” He smirked, and Sofia scoffed, continuing to eat.

    ___

Two days later, Sofia and Mabel chatted at the canteen. Mabel’s face was etched with concern.

“I know what my sister did was wrong, but she won’t stop regretting her actions.”

Sofia’s face was sympathetic. “Yeah, it’s a good thing Shawn didn’t drink the juice.”

     “Who did?” Her eyes narrowed.

Sofia’s face was calm. “I did.”

Mabel’s eyes widened in shock, her mouth hanging open. “What? You did? How?”

“When I returned home from the beach that day, I was so thirsty, and I found the chilled juice on the dining table and drank it by replacing it with another one.”She said, her tone casual.

Her face was a picture of astonishment. “What happened after you drank it?”She asked.

Sofia’s face was grateful. “I can’t remember, I was lucky Shawn was by my side.”

      “Oh my.”She said surprisingly.

Later in the day, Shawn returned home, entering his room and taking off his shirt when a knock interrupted him. One of his men entered, looking pale and worried.

“Yes, what is it?” Shawn asked, his tone firm.

The man remained quiet, and Shawn turned to him, noticing the scared look in his eyes. Shawn’s face darkened, sensing that something was wrong.

Few hours back, after school hours, Sofia and Mabel said their goodbyes before Mabel left with her driver. Sofia was about to enter hers when she suddenly felt pressed and rushed to the restroom to ease herself.

After she was done, she flushed the toilet and came out to wash her hands. Suddenly, she was attacked from behind and fell unconscious. She was wrapped up and put inside a big trash can, which was rolled away through the back door of the school building.

After minutes of waiting, her assigned guard decided to check up on her. He searched for her but she was nowhere to be found. He became scared and restless, his face etched with worry.

He called her cell phone and heard it ringing in the restroom. He traced the sound and picked it up, wondering where she had gone to. His eyes scanned the empty restroom, his face twisted in concern.

Shawn’s face contorted in shock after his men told him what happened to Sofia. He clenched his fist and stared hard at him, his eyes blazing with anger.

He paced around the living room, confusion and anger boiling over. His men stood in the living room, their heads bowed in fear.

“You will have to go out there and find her, I don’t care how you do it, make sure she is brought back here!” He yelled, his voice thundering through the room, and dismissed all of them. “F*CK!” He groaned angrily, slamming his fist on the table.

Meanwhile, in a very dark room, Sofia lay on the floor, her legs and hands tied up, still unconscious.

“Are they complete?” A voice asked from the darkness.

“Yes, boss, the five ladies are ready,” another voice replied.

“Good, prepare them and make sure there is no mistake,” the first voice instructed.

“Sure, boss.” They left the room, shutting the door behind.

The next day, Shawn’s men searched all through the night for Sofia, but there was no trace of her. Shawn went to the school and ordered them to check the CCTV footage.

He was taken to the room, and the clip of when Sofia entered the restroom was shown to him. Afterwards, it became blank.

“Why is it blank?” He asked furiously, his face red with rage.

“I guess it’s faulty,” the man in charge said.

Shawn’s eyes narrowed. “Are you kidding me? Are you trying to say your CCTV camera suddenly developed a fault when she entered the restroom?”

The man flinched in fear. “We are sorry, sir, we don’t know what happened.”

Shawn’s tone turned deadly. “You are sorry? Someone is missing, and you are telling me you are sorry?”

One of the professors intervened. “Calm down, sir, I am sure there is a mix-up somewhere.”

Shawn stared at him, his eyes blazing with anger. “I should calm down?” He scoffed. “How do you guys run this school? A student is missing, and you are telling me there is a mix-up?”

The professor’s face turned pale. “We will try our best to find her, we have seen cases like this, and we noticed most of them disappear to go hang out with their boyfriends for days.”

Shawn’s face twisted in rage. He suddenly grabbed the professor’s neck, and he struggled.

“You have five hours to find her, or else I will use you as a scapegoat,” Shawn threatened, his voice low and menacing.

He pushed the professor off and left. The professor fell on the floor, trying to catch his breath.

    ____

Back to Sofia, who was still unconscious, soon she started to regain herself as she heard voices.

“Is she waking up?” A voice asked from the room, its owner’s face twisted with concern.

“She should be,” Another voice replied, its tone neutral.

“Should we splash water on her?” A third voice asked.

“We can’t, our hands and legs are tied too,” The first voice said, scrunched in frustration.

Sofia opened her eyes weakly, her face contorted in pain. She groaned.

“She is waking up,” The second voice said, her tone lighting up with hope.

“Hey, wake up,” The first voice said, its face leaning in close.

“Where am I?” Sofia asked weakly, her eyes scanning the room.

“Hey, are you ok?” The second voice asked.

Sofia managed to open her eyes and scanned around the place to see four ladies leaning against the wall, their hands and legs tied up. Their faces were etched with fear and worry.

“Who are you?” Sofia asked weakly, her eyes narrowing.

“Try and sit up,” The fourth voice said, encouraging.

Sofia managed to sit upright, her face pale. Then, reality set in as she noticed her hands and legs were tied up.

“What happened? Why am I tied up?” She asked, her voice shaking.

“We have no idea, we were brought in here the same way you were brought,” The first voice said, her face scrunched in confusion.

“What do you mean?…Are you saying we were kidnapped?” Sofia asked, her eyes widening.

“I guess so,” The third voice said, her eyes falling.

Sofia panicked as she suddenly remembered what happened. “Oh no, what is the meaning of this,” She said, her voice rising, and tried to untie herself.

Just then, the door opened, revealing three masked guys. The ladies flinched in fear.

“Please, what do you want from us?” The fourth voice asked scarcely.

“Be quiet and don’t ask us stupid questions,” One of the guys said, his voice firm.

“Why are we here? Did you kidnap us?” Sofia asked curiously, her eyes locked on the guys.

The guys smirked and left, shutting the door behind.

Later that night, they returned home, and Sofia couldn’t shake off the fear. Shawn stared at her with amusement as they went inside.

Just then, Rachel appeared, her tone unlikely. “Where have you been, Shawn? I was worried about you, and you didn’t answer my calls.”

Shawn raised an eyebrow. “I went out to see a movie with Sofia. Is there something wrong?”

Rachel’s gaze turned cold, her eyes fixed on Sofia. “I thought something had happened to you.”

Sofia noticed Rachel’s glare and avoided her gaze. “I’ll be in my room,” Sofia said, rushing upstairs.

Shawn turned to Rachel. “You didn’t tell me you were coming.”

Her voice turned defensive. “I didn’t plan to. When I couldn’t get to you, I was worried, and I decided to come check on you.”

Shawn’s demeanor turned dismissive. “You shouldn’t have. I’m not a kid.” He walked away, leaving Rachel staring after him, her eyes narrowed in frustration.

    ____

Days later, Sofia was taking a nap at the poolside when Rachel approached her, her face cold and stern.

“Is there a problem?” Sofia asked, her brow furrowed in curiosity.

Rachel’s expression turned venomous, and she snapped at Her. “Why do you keep invading my privacy? Why are you doing things I don’t like?” Her voice was laced with anger, and Sofia’s eyes widened in surprise at her harsh tone.

“What are you talking about?” she asked, her voice cautious.

Her face reddened with rage, and she yelled, “Stop pretending Sofia! Stop acting all innocent that you are not!” Her eyes blazed with fury, and Sofia recoiled, taken aback by her outburst. Her words turned menacing, and she spat out, “Let me make it soundly clear to you, I don’t like your closeness towards my fiance, your closeness to him pisses me off.” Her voice dripped with malice, and Sofia’s eyes flashed with fear.

“There is nothing going on between us.” Her eyes turned defensive and she protested

“Oh shut up! Stop acting, stop denying the fact that you don’t feel anything for him. I won’t warn you again, you are still a kid that I wouldn’t want to share my man with. He is mine and mine alone. Don’t dare me Sofia, or I will put you in a position you will regret for the rest of your miserable life, you slave!” Her voice was laced with contempt, and Sofia’s face paled, shocked by her words.

Rachel turned and walked away, leaving Sofia staring after her, her eyes wide with fear and shock.

Later in the cool evening, they were having their dinner. Sofia’s face was cast downward, her eyes fixed on her meal as she was lost in thought, still reeling from Rachel’s harsh words earlier. Rachel, on the other hand, focused on her meal, pretending like nothing had happened.

Shawn noticed the pale look on Sofia’s face and asked, “Is everything ok?” His question jolted her out of her thoughts, and Sofia raised her face to him, forcing a smile.

     “Yes.”

His eyes narrowed slightly. “Why aren’t you eating?”

She pushed the food aside. “Um, I’m not hungry.” She said, “I’d like to be excused.” and stood up to leave

Shawn stared after her as she walked away. Rachel chimed in, “Come on, babe, eat. Stop worrying about her. She ate a lot at noon, that’s why she’s not hungry.” He  sighed and continued eating.

Some hours later, Sofia came out of her room to the living room, unable to sleep as she was still haunted by the movie she watched and Rachel’s harsh words. Shawn emerged to see her laying down on the couch, staring at the ceiling.

“Why are you here?” he asked.

She raised her face to him and then sat upright. “Nothing,” she said.

He came to sit next to her. “Why aren’t you sleeping in your room? Are you scared?” he teased.

“I just…”She hesitated, her eyes darting downward.

She gulped nervously. Shawn’s expression turned gentle. “I didn’t force you to watch that movie, you decided it yourself.”

“Don’t blame me, okay? I saw the rate everyone was giving the movie, so I decided to watch it.”Her  face contorted in frustration.

His eyes crinkled at the corners. “And now it has traumatized you.”

“Don’t make it harder than it is, okay?” She said.

“So, what do you want to do now?” he asked as he giggled

“I don’t know.” She sighed, her eyes cast downward. “I just wish I hadn’t watched it.”

“Do you want to forget about it?” he asked, his eyes locked onto hers.

She raised her face to meet his gaze. “Do you have any idea on what to do to forget about it?” she asked, her voice laced with desperation.

He  nodded, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I do, if you permit me,” he said, his voice low and husky.

As he spoke, he pulled closer to her, their faces inches apart. Sofia’s eyes widened, and she gulped nervously.

“What do you mean?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

His eyes burned with intensity. “Do I get the permission?” he asked, his hand caressing her face.

Sofia’s heart pounded in her chest, and she felt her pulse racing. She gulped hard, her eyes locked onto Shawn’s. “I…I don’t know,” she stuttered.

His face leaned in closer, his lips inches from her ear. “Close your eyes,” he whispered, his breath sending shivers down her spine.

Sofia’s eyes fluttered closed, and she squeezed her shirt tightly, her heart racing with anticipation. Shawn’s lips brushed against hers, soft and gentle. Sofia’s face scrunched up, and she felt a rush of emotions. She tried to push him away, but her body resisted, melting into his touch.

As they kissed, Her world around her melted away, leaving only the sensation of Shawn’s lips on hers.

As his lips lingered on hers, Rachel caught sight of them from the stairs. Her eyes widened in shock and anger, her face twisting into a scowl. She stood frozen for a moment, her gaze fixed on the intimate scene before her.

Then, without making a sound, she turned and went back inside, her anger and jealousy simmering just below the surface. The sound of her footsteps echoed softly as she retreated, leaving Shawn and Sofia oblivious to the storm brewing upstairs.

Shawn finally pulled away from Sofia, his eyes locked onto hers. Sofia’s face was flushed, her eyes still closed, her lips parted slightly. Shawn’s gaze softened, and he whispered,

      “You okay?”

Sofia’s eyes fluttered open, and she nodded slowly, still trying to process what had just happened. Shawn smiled gently and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, his touch sending shivers down her spine.

“This wasn’t a kiss, right?” She asked, avoiding Shawn’s gaze shyly, her cheeks flushing pink.

His lips curved into a smile. “Do you want to consider this real?” he asked, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

She quickly stood up, her eyes still cast downward. “I’ll go to my room,” she said, turning to leave.

Shawn’s hand shot out, holding her hand in place. “Have you forgotten our deal? You still have to cuddle me to sleep,” he said, his smile still firmly in place.

She sighed, her shoulders slumping in resignation. She turned her back against him, still holding his hand. “Can’t we do this some other time?”

. “No, I have a busy day tomorrow.”

“Okay, fine.” She let out a deep sigh. She sat down, avoiding Shawn’s gaze. Shawn scoffed and rested his head on her lap, his eyes closing as a small smile curved his lips.

“You don’t have to act nervous,” he said. “The kiss was just to stop you from being haunted by that movie. It will replace it.”

Her eyes flashed with indignation. “I’m not nervous,” she said. “This isn’t the first time you’ve kissed me, anyway.”

Shawn’s eyes snapped open, meeting Sofia’s gaze. Sofia quickly turned her face away, her cheeks flushing pink.

“How many times do I remind you, it wasn’t a kiss?” he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

“But our lips touched,” She pointed out.

“It still doesn’t state the fact that it’s a kiss.”His smile grew wider.

She rolled her eyes. “And what do you call this?”

“A favor.”His lips curved into a smirk. He closed his eyes, a self-satisfied smile still on his face.

Sofia muttered under her breath, “Yeah, whatever.”

But upstairs, Rachel’s anger was building, her mind racing with thoughts of betrayal and deception. She couldn’t believe what she had just seen, and she knew she had to confront Shawn about it. The question was, when and how?

Her voice turned defensive. “I didn’t plan to. When I couldn’t get to you, I was worried, and I decided to come check on you.”

Shawn’s demeanor turned dismissive. “You shouldn’t have. I’m not a kid.” He walked away, leaving Rachel staring after him, her eyes narrowed in frustration.

Later that night, they returned home, and Sofia couldn’t shake off the fear. Shawn stared at her with amusement as they went inside.

Just then, Rachel appeared, her tone unlikely. “Where have you been, Shawn? I was worried about you, and you didn’t answer my calls.”

Shawn raised an eyebrow. “I went out to see a movie with Sofia. Is there something wrong?”

Rachel’s gaze turned cold, her eyes fixed on Sofia. “I thought something had happened to you.”

That same night, Rachel came to the bedroom dressed in nightwear, her expression seductive. She moved closer to Shawn, who was laying down on the bed operating his laptop, her hips swaying flirtatiously.

Shawn ignored her, his eyes fixed on the screen, focused.

“Are you going to keep doing that?” She asked with a playful look.

Shawn’s face remained unchanged, his eyes still fixed on the screen. “Am busy, I need to finish this,” he replied, his voice firm.

“Can’t you do it later and focus on me?” Her voice was laced with seduction.

“This is important.” He said sounding serious. Rachel was angry, and she sighed, her body language tense. She lay down, turning her face to the other side looking sulky.

An hour later, Shawn was done with what he was doing, and Rachel was already fast asleep. He closed his laptop and dropped it on the shelf before standing up and leaving the room. Rachel woke up, wondering where he was going. Her expression turned puzzled, and she thought to herself,

“Where could he be going to at this hour?”

Shawn came to the living room, his expression relaxed. He sat down and turned on the TV, watching intently. Sofia came out of her room, heading to the kitchen to get water. She paused, seeing him in the living room, and turned to go to the kitchen, not wanting to disturb him.

“You are still up?” he asked curiously turning to her. Sofia turned to him.

“Yes, I was thirsty, so I came to get some water,” she replied, her voice soft.

“Okay, when you are done, come and join me,” he said, and Sofia nodded and  She left for the kitchen, and Shawn turned back to the TV, waiting for her to return.

Sofia returned to join Shawn, who was lying on the couch. He pushed over and lay down resting his head on her lap, and Sofia’s eyes widened, and gulped nervously. Shawn felt relaxed, his eyes closing.

“Why aren’t you sleeping in your room?” she asked. “Did you have a nightmare?”. Her voice soft.

He opened his eyes lazily. “I finished my work and decided to watch TV,” he said.

She raised an eyebrow. “It’s late. Don’t you have work tomorrow?” Her voice laced with concern.

He shrugged. “I do, I  couldn’t sleep. Now that you’re here, you can keep me company.” He tease

“But your fiancee might misunderstand if she sees us like this.”Her concern deepened

“Don’t worry about that. I just want a peaceful sleep.”He waved his hand dismissively, his eyes closed.

“You’re just a big kid who misses being spoiled.”She tease.

“Of course , I didn’t have a happy childhood.”His eyes opened and his voice firm.

“Why? What happened?”.Her curiosity was piqued. Shawn’s expression turned stoic, and he closed his eyes. He sighed, noticing he didn’t want to talk about it. “You don’t wanna tell me?”.

Shawn remained silent, his eyes still closed. Her face turned resigned, her eyes soft.” Fine, Never mind. I won’t ask.”Her voice calm.

Meanwhile, Rachel watched from the stairs, her face darkening with anger. She stormed back to the bedroom.

The next day, Shawn dropped Sofia off at school. She came down and waved at him as she went inside. Mabel saw her and rushed to her side.

“Um, someone looks happy today,” Mabel teased.

Sofia hugged her. “Of course I am happy.”

They pulled away from each other. “You wanna share?” She asked.

Sofia wrapped her arm around Mabel’s. “Sure.”

As they walked away, Mabel said, “I didn’t see your bodyguard around.”

“He’ll be coming later, after school hours,” She replied.

Meanwhile, Rachel returned home and sat in the living room chatting with her family.

“Mom, I’m not finding it funny anymore. I’m losing Shawn to her,” she said.

“What do you mean?”. V asked looked at her concernedly.

Rachel’s expression turned serious. “The way Shawn cares for her is different from the way he cares for me. All his attention is always on Sofia…do you know I caught them cuddling each other in the living room?” Mr.Mark, V, looked at her thoughtfully.

“What do you want us to do?”Mrs.Ruth asked.

Rachel faced her father. “Dad, you have to pressure him to take the next step in our relationship. I really want to be engaged to him.”

V’s expression turned cunning. “It’s simple, get pregnant for him.” They  turned to him, surprised. “You heard me,” V continued. “Trap him into getting you pregnant. Once that’s done, there’s no way he won’t accept marrying you.”

Mrs. Ruth nodded in agreement. “That’s a good idea.”

The family fell into deep thought, contemplating V’s suggestion.

During closer hour, Sofia and Mabel said their goodbyes, and Mabel left with her guard. Sofia headed towards the gate, noticing a car parked in front of it. She wondered if her guard had been sent to pick her up in Shawn’s car.

Shawn, who was inside the car, whined down the glass, wondering why Sofia was standing there lost in thought. “What are you doing standing there? Hop in,” he said, interrupting her thoughts.

She was surprised to hear Shawn’s voice and rushed to join him in the car. “Shawn?” she called out, surprised. Shawn told the driver to go, and they drove off. “Why are you here? Did you finish your work early at the office?” Sofia asked curiously.

    “Yeah,” he replied.

She smiled. “Wow, that’s nice. So, are you heading home now?”

“Do you want to go somewhere else?”He turned to her and she hesitated for a moment. “What is it? You wanna go somewhere else?” Shawn asked.

She nodded. “Um, yeah, there’s this new movie showing at the cinema today, and I’d love to watch it.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Is that it?” he asked, and She nodded. “Ok, then,” He told the driver to change their destination.

“Really?” She asked excitedly and held his hand excitedly. “Thank you.”

Shawn smiled and told the driver to change location. An hour later, they arrived at the cinema, and She rushed out of the car happily, with Shawn following close behind. They went inside and bought tickets, and Shawn was surprised to see that the movie they were watching was a scary one.

“Is this the movie you want to watch?” he asked, and She nodded.

“Aren’t you scared?” He asked, and Sofia scoffed.

“Scared,” she repeated. “Why will I be scared when you are right beside me?” She smiled, and he scoffed. “Let’s go,” She said, taking Shawn’s hand and turning to leave. Just then, a familiar voice called out to her.

“Sofia!” Nina exclaimed, and Sofia turned to see Sam and Nina approaching her. Sofia’s face lit up with a smile as she hugged Nina.

Shawn watched as Sofia hugged Nina, then pulled away.

“It’s so good to see you again,” Sofia said.

“I should be the one to say that, I’ve been expecting your calls all this while,” Nina replied.

Sofia apologized, “I’m sorry about that, I misplaced my phone.”

Sam asked, “You came to watch a movie too?”

    Sofia nodded, “Yes.”

Nina said, “That’s good, we came to see a movie as well.” Her gaze landed on Shawn, and she asked, “Who is this?”

Sofia introduced him, “Um, this is Shawn.”

Nina flashed a smile at him and was mesmerized by his enchantment. “Hello,” she said.

Shawn nodded slightly, his eyes narrowing slightly as he watched Sam smile at Sofia. Sam lowered his head slightly in greeting.

Sofia suggested, “Since we’re here to watch a movie, let’s go in.”

They went inside the theater hall and sat down. The hall was already filled with a few people. Shawn sat next to Sofia, who was holding a box of popcorn and a drink, with Sam and Nina on the other side.

Soon the movie started. When it got to the scary part, Sofia screamed and held tight to Shawn’s arm, hiding her face. Shawn’s expression turned slightly amused, and he scoffed.
