Shawn was doing everything possible to get Sofia free from Sly. He contacted some of the highest authorities, and they all gave him a positive answer, saying they would get back to him. He fell loose on his office chair, relieved a little.

He also assigned his men to get more information about what happened, and they all got busy. “Hang in there, Sofia, just a little longer, and I will get you out of there,” he said, determination etched on his face.

Meanwhile, Sofia came to school, escorted by Sly’s men. Everyone was staring at her, and Mabel saw her and tried to approach her. But she was stopped by Sly’s men. Sofia stared sadly at Mabel, and she suddenly understood that all wasn’t well with her.

During lunch break, Sofia went to the restroom, and the men secured the area. She stared at herself in the mirror, sobbing as she brought out a sharp blade from her bag.

“Maybe ending my life will stop all this misery around me. I can’t take this anymore,” she sobbed. “Will you ever come for me, Shawn, or have you forgotten about me already?” she sniffed, staring at the blade. She was about to cut her wrist when suddenly a hand grabbed her. She turned to see it was Mabel.

“What were you trying to do?” Mabel asked sadly, taking the blade from her.

“Mabel,” She sobbed, pulling her into a hug. Mabel held her tight. “I don’t want to leave like this anymore,” her voice muffled.

Mabel patted her hair. “It’s okay, I am here for you. I will never leave your side,” she said, and they pulled away from each other. She  cleaned up her tears. “Don’t cry, this isn’t the end of the world for you. I can understand what you’re going through,” She said, her expression filled with empathy.

“I can’t take it anymore, nobody cares about me, I am just a used vessel to everyone, the person I once put my hope on has abandoned me, I am now a complete slave to everyone”.She sniffs and Mabel caress her face.

“Don’t say that, you are not a slave, no one has forgotten about you, I am still here”.She said and pulled her into a warm hug.”Everything is going to be fine”.She pat her back

Later in the day, Sofia returned from school, her expression weary. She entered the living room to see Sly and his fiancée seated at the dining table, their faces furious. Sofia wondered why they were so moody.

“Come here,” Sly said, his voice cold.

Sofia walked up to them, her eyes cautious. Before she could react, she received a hot slap across her face. “You thief!” the lady yelled, her face reddening with anger.

Sofia’s eyes widened in shock as she held her face. “What are you talking about?” she asked, her voice trembling.

Sly’s expression turned menacing. “Do you think you can come to my house and steal from my woman?” he asked, his voice dripping with malice.

“I didn’t steal anything,” she said, her eyes pleading.

The lady’s face twisted in anger. “Liar! If you didn’t steal my expensive jewelry, how come it was found in the place you sleep on?” she yelled, slamming the missing necklace on the table.

Sofia’s eyes widened in fear. “I didn’t take it,” she said, trying to defend herself.

Sly’s face reddened with anger. “You are still lying in my presence,” he yelled, his voice echoing through the room.

He ordered one of his men to get him a pressing iron, and Sofia flinched in fear. The iron was brought to him, and he plugged it in, his eyes glinting with malice.

“If you don’t tell me why you stole from her, I’ll use this hot pressing iron on you,” he threatened, his voice dripping with menace. He ordered his men to hold Sofia, and she begged for her life, her hands stretched out in pleading.

“No, I didn’t take it!” she cried out, her eyes streaming with tears. “Please believe me, I didn’t take it,” she cried out again.

The lady’s face twisted in anger. “Liar! You are a thief,” she yelled, her voice echoing through the room.

The workers hid from view, watching in fear as the scene unfolded.

Sly’s smirk grew wider as he brought the hot iron closer to Sofia’s hand. “Your family has the nerve to steal from me and run away, and you think you can steal from my woman and get away with it?” he sneered.

Sofia flinched in fear, her eyes fixed on the iron. “No, no, I didn’t take it, please!” she screamed, seeing the iron was almost close to her hand.

Suddenly, someone grabbed Sly’s hand and held it tight. Sly groaned in pain, and the lady’s eyes widened in surprise. Sofia opened her eyes to see Shawn, his face twisted in anger.

She looked around and saw his men surrounding the room, their faces set in determined expressions. Shawn’s eyes locked onto Sly, his gaze cold and menacing.

“You! How dare…” Sly’s words trailed off as he screamed in pain when Shawn took the hot iron and placed it on his hand.

The lady tried to run, but Shawn’s men held her firm. “Let me go!” she struggled with them, her face reddening with anger.

Shawn’s expression remained cold. “Bring her closer,” he ordered, his voice firm.

His men brought the lady closer, and she yelled, “No, don’t touch me!” Shawn used the hot iron and burned her hand, and she screamed in pain.

Sly yelled, groaning in pain while holding his burnt hand. “You bastard! How dare you!”

Shawn’s face darkened. “How dare me,” he frowned and landed several slaps on Sly’s face. Then, he flipped some files onto Sly’s face.

Sly’s eyes widened as he read the contents of the files. Shawn’s expression turned menacing. “Just so you know, your lying scheme is over. Soon enough, the police will be here to take you back to prison where you belong.”

Sly’s face paled. “What evidence do you have?” he yelled, but Shawn just scoffed.

“They are right there on the file, and the original copy has been sent to the high authority. Soon, you will be apprehended along with your accomplice,” Shawn smirked, his eyes glinting with triumph.

Sly’s face contorted in fear. Shawn turned to look at Sofia, and his expression softened. He saw her weak face and was about to pull her into a hug when suddenly she slumped, almost falling to the ground.

Shawn held her quickly as she fell unconscious. “Sofia!” he called, trying to wake her up. He tugged her into his arms and rushed out along with his men.

Sly and his fiancée were left groaning in pain, their faces twisted in agony. Sly’s men rushed to their aid.

It all turned out that  Shawn’s men had gathered crucial information about Sly’s evil plot. They discovered that Sly had forged Sofia’s signature on documents and made false claims to the lawsuits and authorities. Shawn seized the opportunity and quickly emailed the original copies to the highest authority.

When the authorities noticed the discrepancies, they swiftly took illegal action to bring Sly down. Additionally, some videos were presented as evidence, showing Sly sexually assaulting ladies. All evidence pointed to Sly’s guilt.

As soon as Shawn and his men left Sly’s house, the police arrived and took Sly, his men, and his fiancée into custody. The lady tried to deny any involvement with Sly, but it was too late. They were taken away, their faces etched with shock and fear.

The workers in the house, who had been held captive, finally found freedom. They quickly packed their belongings and ran out of the house, their faces filled with relief and joy. They had finally escaped the clutches of the evil Sly.

The scene outside the house was chaotic, with police cars and ambulances surrounding the area. The workers were being attended to by paramedics, while Sly and his accomplices were being taken away in handcuffs.

Shawn, who had been watching from a distance, felt a sense of satisfaction and relief. Justice had finally been served, and Sofia was safe. He turned to his men and nodded, “Let’s go”.

The next morning, they sat at the dining table, eating breakfast. Sofia avoided eye contact with Shawn, her eyes cast downward. Rachel frowned, sensing the tension between them.

Rachel picked up an egg with her fork and pointed it towards Shawn. “Come on, babe, open up,” she said, smiling.

Shawn hesitated, then opened his mouth. Rachel shoved the egg into his mouth, and Shawn chewed, his eyes fixed on Sofia.

“You look cute with your mouth moving gently,” Rachel teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

Sofia’s face turned pink, and she stood up abruptly. “Um, excuse me,” she said, grabbing her phone and rushing upstairs to her room.

“Where are you going? You haven’t finished your food,” Shawn said, looking concerned

“I am full already,” She replied, not looking back.

Shawn stared after her, his eyes still fixed on the stairs. Rachel placed a hand on his arm. “Come on, don’t worry about her,” she said, smiling reassuringly.

Shawn sighed, his eyes still fixed on the stairs.

Later that day, Sofia sat alone by the pool, reading a book. Rachel walked over, holding a plate of fruit salad.

“Hey,” Sofia said, sitting upright and smiling.

Rachel sat down next to her. “I brought you some fruits,” she said, offering the plate.

her eyes lit up. “Thank you, but you shouldn’t have.”

“Come on, it’s the little I can do.”She smiled. They shared a warm smile. “So, how’s it going with school? I heard you guys are on holiday,” She asked.

Sofia nodded, taking a bite of the fruit salad. “Yes.”

She sighed. “That’s good. So, tell me, Sofia, don’t get offended by what I want to say.”

“Sure, no problem.” She said curiously.

“Who is Shawn to you right now? I know how you ended up in his house.”her eyes locked onto Sofia’s. Sofia’s face scrunched up in confusion. “I just want to know the relationship between you two,” Rachel added.

“There is no relationship between us like the way you’re thinking. Shawn is my guardian.” She said making it clear to her.

“Just a guardian? No string attached?” She asked, her eyes narrowing slightly with curiosity.

Sofia’s expression turned matter-of-fact. “Don’t get it wrong, there is nothing going on between us. Besides, I don’t see him like that. He’s yours anyway.”

Rachel’s face lit up with a smile, her eyes sparkling with relief. “Okay, I just want to be sure. You know I love him so much. I really didn’t want him to slip off my hand.”

Sofia nodded, looking calm”I know.” She returned to her book, and Rachel looked at her with a smirk, her eyes glinting with amusement.

Later that evening, Shawn walked into the dining room, where Rachel was setting the table with the help of the workers. Sofia was nowhere to be seen.

“Where is Sofia?” he asked, his eyes scanning the room.

Rachel turned to him, a hint of a smile on her face. “Probably in her room. She hasn’t stepped out since noon.”

His brow furrowed slightly. “Isn’t she joining us for dinner?”

Rachel’s expression turned nonchalant. “I called her before, and she said she wasn’t hungry.”

He sighed, his eyes narrowing slightly as he headed back to Sofia’s room.

Meanwhile, Sofia was in her room, having a phone call with Mabel. “Well, I can’t wait either. Staying at home doing nothing is boring,” she said, laughing. Just then, someone knocked on the door. “Talk to you later, someone’s at the door,” She  said, hanging up the phone.

She got up to open the door, and her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Shawn standing there. “Shawn, you’re back,” she said, smiling.

Shawn’s expression turned concerned. “Why aren’t you joining us for dinner?”

Her face turned sheepish. “Um, dinner… I totally forgot about that.”

His eyes narrowed slightly. “Rachel told me you said you weren’t hungry.”

Her expression turned confused, her eyes furrowing slightly. “Um, yeah… just give me a second. I’ll join you guys.”

“Go in. I’ll wait here for you.”

Sofia nodded and returned to her room. She put on her slippers, grabbed her phone from the bed, and then left with Shawn.

As they walked downstairs, Rachel looked up and saw them coming. A frown curved her face, her eyes narrowing slightly as she sensed the connection between Shawn and Sofia.

“Oh, Sofia, you changed your mind?” she asked, smiling forcedly.

Sofia nodded, and they sat down to eat, the tension between them palpable.

As they continued eating, Rachel spoke up, breaking the silent mood. “So, Sofia, did you resign from your job? I haven’t seen you go out of this house since I came,” she said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Shawn’s expression turned confused, while Sofia’s eyes widened in surprise, her face pale. “What job are you talking about?” Shawn asked, his brow furrowed.

Rachel’s smile grew wider. “Sofia’s job, I overheard Mabel talking to V if he can help you with a job vacancy,” she said, her eyes glinting with amusement.

Sofia’s eyes darted to Shawn, her face guilty. She gulped nervously, avoiding Shawn’s gaze. “Is that true? You went working behind my back? Was that the reason why you told me to stop a guard from following you to school?” Shawn asked, his voice unfriendly, his eyes narrowing.

Sofia’s face turned pink, and she looked down, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m sorry, I was just trying to gather some money for myself, so I won’t be indebted to you.”

Rachel’s smile grew wider, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she watched Shawn’s angry reaction.

“When did all these happen?” Shawn asked, his voice rising in anger.

Sofia’s voice trembled. “After the guard stopped following me to school, I got a job at a restaurant. I only worked a week, and I stopped.”

Rachel’s eyes locked onto Sofia’s. “Why did you stop? Was it stressful?”

Sofia’s face turned pale, and she remained silent.

Shawn’s expression turned harsh. “You lied to me. You know what I hate the most is a lie. Do you think working to make ends meet will make you pay all the debt your family owes me?” Sofia’s eyes welled up with tears as Shawn’s words cut deep. “No matter how many years you will have to work, you will never be able to pay back. You are mine now, and there is no turning back for you. Your family sold you out to me, you are with me, and you must abide by my rules,” he said harshly.

Sofia’s face crumpled, and she lowered her face to the ground, hurt by his words. Rachel’s expression turned calm, her voice soothing. “Come on, Shawn, don’t be too harsh on her. She’s still a little girl. I thought you knew about it.”

Sofia’s voice trembled. “I’m sorry, I promise it won’t happen again,” she said sadly, her eyes welling up with tears.

“If this happens again and I found out about it, I won’t hold back next time,” Shawn warned, his expression stern. He stood up to leave, his eyes flashing with anger.

“Where are you going?” Rachel asked, her brow furrowed with concern.

Shawn ignored her and left for his room, his footsteps echoing through the hallway.

Rachel sighed. She smirked at Sofia before making an innocent face. “Don’t take what he said to you too hard, he’s just angry that you lied to him. I’m sure he’ll come around,” she said, her voice dripping with sweetness.

Sofia nodded, her eyes cast downward. Rachel added, “I’m sorry I spilled it out, I didn’t mean to. Please forgive me.” Sofia nodded again, and Rachel smiled, her eyes glinting with triumph.

The next morning, Shawn came out of his room, dressed up to leave. His eyes met Sofia’s as she emerged from her room.

“Good morning,” she greeted, her voice soft.

Shawn nodded slightly, his expression still stern, and walked away. Sofia sighed sadly, her eyes following him.

As Shawn came down the staircase, he paused, his eyes catching sight of a familiar figure rolling his wheelchair into the house. Sly, accompanied by his men and some lawsuit agents and high authorities in the city, looked determined.

Rachel came out of the kitchen, looking surprised, while Sofia’s eyes widened in shock. She took a step back, her face pale.

Sly’s eyes locked onto Sofia, his expression cold and calculating. “Ah, Sofia. We meet again,” he said, his voice dripping with malice.

The air was thick with tension as Sly’s men and the lawsuit agents moved forward, their faces stern. Rachel’s eyes narrowed, her expression guarded, while Shawn’s eyes flashed with anger.

Sofia’s eyes darted between Sly and Shawn, her heart racing with fear. She knew that this time, things wouldn’t go well.

Violet snapped at Shawn, her face turned angry, her eyes flashing with fury. They walked their way to the living room, talking, and Shawn sighed tiredly at her nagging.

Shawn sat down on the couch, his legs crossed, looking relaxed. Violet stood in front of him, her arms folded across her br+ast, frowning at him. “You can’t do that,” she snapped.

Shawn’s face turned teasing, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “What exactly can’t I do? The first one or the second one?” he asked, his voice low.

Violet’s face turned indignant, her eyes wide with outrage. “The both! There is no way I am changing my name from Violet to Sofia, and secondly, there is no way I am cuddling you to sleep when you are not a baby,” she said, her voice firm.

Shawn’s face turned calm, his eyes narrowing. “Ok, then, I will phone your grandmother now to bring the money, and I will send you back to her,” he said, his voice low.

Violet’s frown deeper . “Are you threatening me with that?” she asked.

Shawn’s face turned serious, his eyes locked on hers. “Exactly! That’s my rule here for you want to continue staying,” he said, his voice firm.

Violet’s face turned angry, her eyes flashing with fury. “You are mean,” she frowned.

Shawn’s face turned amused, his eyes sparkling with humor. “I know, I heard that a lot,” he smirked.

Violet’s face turned sad, her eyes cast downward. “This is not fair,” she said, and sat down, frowning.

Shawn’s face turned serious, his eyes narrowing. “Do you agree or not?” he asked, his voice low.

Violet’s face turned thoughtful, her eyes cast downward. “I can agree to the first one, but the second one, I doubted. There is no way I am cuddling you to sleep every night when I know you are not a baby,” she said, her voice firm.

Shawn’s face turned calm, his eyes narrowing. “You have tomorrow morning to decide, or else I won’t think twice to phone your grandmother,” he said, standing up and leaving for his room.

Violet’s face turned angry, her eyes flashing with fury. “You are so mean!” she yelled after him, and Shawn smirked, his face turned amused.

Mr. Mark and his family were having their breakfast, the atmosphere warm and cozy. Rachel was lost in thought, her eyes cast downward, and they stared at her, wondering what was bothering her.

Mrs. Ruth’s face turned concerned, her eyebrows furrowing. “Are you ok, dear?” she asked.

Rachel’s face turned sad, her eyes still cast downward. “Yeah,” she sighed.

V’s face turned curious, his eyebrows furrowing. “You don’t look ok, did something happen when you went to surprise Shawn on his birthday?” he asked.

Rachel’s face turned thoughtful, her eyes still cast downward. “Actually, about the surprise birthday, it didn’t go well. It looks like Shawn is not a fan of having his birthday celebrated,” she said.

Mr. Mark’s face turned understanding, his eyes nodding. “Yeah, I also noticed that too. I don’t think he likes celebrating his birthday,” he said.

Mabel’s face turned thoughtful, her eyebrows furrowing. “I guess there is a story behind it,” she said.

V’s face turned concerned, his eyes locked on Rachel’s. “Is that why you are sad?” he asked.

Rachel’s face turned serious, her eyes locked on V’s. “No, I also happened to find out the truth between him and Violet,” she said, and they stared at her, their faces turned curious.

Meanwhile, Violet was having breakfast with Shawn, the atmosphere tense and awkward. Violet was avoiding his gaze, her eyes cast downward.

Shawn’s face turned serious, his eyes locked on Violet’s. “So, have you decided yet?” he asked.

Violet’s face turned hesitant, her eyes still cast downward. “No, I need more time to think it through,” she said.

Shawn’s face turned impatient, his eyes narrowing. “There is no time for that,” he said, and flipped a file to her.

Violet’s face turned confused, her eyebrows furrowing. “What’s this?” she asked, staring at the file.

Shawn’s face turned amused, his eyes sparkling with humor. “Can’t you read?” he asked, and Violet glanced through the file, her face turned pale.

Shawn’s face turned impatient, his eyes flashing with annoyance. “Sign it, I am getting late for my flight,” he said, throwing a pen at her.

He turned and left with some of his men, leaving Violet alone. Violet’s face turned frustrated, her eyes flashing with anger. She sighed, her shoulders slumping in defeat.

Back at Mr. Mark’s house, everyone was in shock as Rachel revealed everything to them. Their faces turned surprised, their eyes wide with wonder.

Mabel’s face turned curious, her eyebrows furrowing. “Really? She was sold to Shawn by her grandmother?” she asked, her voice full of surprise.

Rachel nodded, her face turned serious. Mrs. Ruth’s face turned concerned, her eyes cast downward.

V’s face turned surprised, his eyebrows furrowing. “What kind of a grandmother will do that to her own granddaughter, because of money?” he asked, his voice full of disgust.

Mabel’s face turned sympathetic, her eyes shining with compassion. “Poor Violet, I feel for her,” she said, her voice soft.

Mrs. Ruth’s face turned thoughtful, her eyebrows furrowing. “Did her grandmother try to pay back the money?” she asked, her voice curious. Pen by Isabella library

Rachel’s face turned serious, her eyes locked on Mrs. Ruth’s. “Yes, Violet refused to go with her, and Shawn refused to accept the money back,” she said.

Mr. Mark’s face turned puzzled, his eyebrows furrowing. “Why? Doesn’t he want to let the lady go?” he asked, his voice curious.

Rachel’s face turned thoughtful, her eyes cast downward. “Yes, Dad, there is more to what I don’t know, something fishy might be going on between them,” she said, her voice low.

Mabel’s face turned defensive, her eyes flashing with anger. “I don’t think something is going on between them, I think Violet finds peace staying with him,” she said.

Rachel’s face turned serious, her eyes locked on Mabel’s. “She was sold to Shawn, which means she is just a slave in his house,” she said, her voice firm.

Mabel’s face turned angry, her eyes flashing with fury. “Don’t say that, Violet is not a slave to him, it’s just a pity she was born in a wrong family,” she said, her voice rising in defense.

Rachel’s face turned puzzled, her eyebrows furrowing. “If she doesn’t like being called a slave, why can’t she just follow her grandmother and continue her life?” she asked, her voice curious.

They all sighed, their faces turned thoughtful, as they contemplated the situation.

Days later, Shawn came out of his room dressed up to leave for his office, his face calm and composed. He walked to the dining table and noticed Violet’s absence, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. He wondered if she wasn’t up yet and shrugged, starting to eat.

Meanwhile, Violet was in her room, her face contorted in pain, her eyes squeezed shut. She was having her menstrual cramp, unable to move as she held tight to her stomach, her knuckles white with tension.

Shawn checked his wristwatch and noticed it was getting late for Violet to come out of her room. His face turned concerned, his eyebrows furrowing. He stood up and climbed the stairs to her doorstep, knocking gently. “Sofia, are you in there?” he asked, his voice low and gentle. Violet didn’t respond, and Shawn’s face turned worried. “I am coming in,” he said, opening the door and entering the room.

He rushed to Violet’s side, his face turning alarmed. “Sofia,” he said, his voice soft and concerned. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?” he asked, his eyes scanning her face.

Violet nodded weakly, her face still contorted in pain. “Am fine,” she managed to speak, her voice barely above a whisper.

Shawn’s face turned skeptical, his eyebrows furrowing. “I don’t think so, you are in pain. Do you want me to call the doctor?” he asked, his voice gentle.

Violet rolled her head, her eyes still closed. “It’s nothing, I am just having a stomach pain,” she said, her voice weak.

Shawn sighed, his face turning thoughtful. He remembered seeing her in this state before and knew what was wrong with her. “Hold on,” he said, leaving the room and standing at the stairs. He called one of the workers, who answered immediately. “Get me a heating pad, add hot water to it, and bring it to Sofia’s room,” he instructed.

The lady nodded and left, while Shawn returned to Violet’s room. Some moments later, the lady came with the heating pad, and Shawn took it from her, placing it gently on Violet’s stomach. Violet held onto it, her face still contorted in pain.

The lady asked, “Is there anything else, sir?”

Shawn thought for a moment before asking, “Yes, what do you think she needs at this moment?”

The lady smiled. “Well, she will need to rest for now, and when she wakes up, she will need some herbal tea and a massage around her tummy.”

Shawn’s face turned surprised. “A massage?” he asked, his eyebrows furrowing. The lady nodded. “Okay, go make the tea,” Shawn instructed.

The lady bowed and left, while Shawn sighed and stared at Violet, who had fallen asleep still holding onto the heating pad. His face turned soft, his eyes filled with concern.

Some minutes later, Violet opened her eyes weakly, her gaze blurry. She sat upright on the bed, her movements slow and labored. Her eyes met Shawn’s, who was sitting on the couch, engrossed in his laptop. His face was calm, his eyes focused on the screen.

“You are still here?” Violet asked, her voice weak and husky.

Shawn raised his face to hers, his eyes softening. “You are awake,” he said, a hint of a smile on his lips. He moved to her side and picked up the cup of herbal tea on the shelf. “Drink this,” he said, his voice gentle.

Violet’s face turned curious, her eyebrows furrowing. “What’s this?” she asked, her voice still weak.

Shawn’s face turned serious, his eyes locked on hers. “It’s an herbal tea, it’s good for cramps,” he said, his voice firm. Violet hesitated to take the cup from him, her face turned skeptical. “Drink it before it gets cold again, it’s been heated twice now,” Shawn said, his eyes encouraging.

Violet took the cup from him, her face still skeptical. She took a sip, and her face contorted in disgust. “Yuck! It’s bitter,” she said, her voice filled with distaste.

Shawn’s face turned calm, his eyes softening. “Yeah, drink up,” he said, his voice gentle.

Violet refused, her face turned stubborn. “I don’t want to, it’s too bitter,” she said, her voice firm.

Shawn brought out a peppermint from his pocket, his face turned thoughtful. “Drink it and take this peppermint to quench the bitterness,” he said, his eyes encouraging.

Violet sighed, her face turned resigned. She closed her eyes and gulped down the tea, her face contorted in disgust. Shawn quickly placed the peppermint in her mouth, his face turned gentle.

“Feeling better?” he asked, his eyes locked on hers.

Violet nodded, her face still pale. “I’m hungry,” she said, her voice weak.

Shawn’s face turned thoughtful, his eyes softening. “I will ask them to serve you in your room,” he said, standing up to leave.

Violet’s face turned curious, her eyebrows furrowing. “You didn’t go to the office today?” she asked, her voice still weak.

Shawn’s face turned calm, his eyes softening. “No, I am working from home,” he said, walking away.

Violet sighed, her face turned relieved. She managed to get out of bed and make her way to the bathroom to freshen up, her movements slow and labored.

Sly’s face turned red with rage, his eyes blazing with fury.

“Give us more time, and we will bring her to you,” Diana said, her voice trembling.

Sly’s face turned cold, his eyes narrowing. “Time is what I don’t have, I want her back to this house or you people will work endlessly until you kiss the earth goodbye,” he yelled angrily, his voice echoing through the room.

He turned and left with his men, his face still twisted in rage. Violet’s parents exchanged worried glances.

Diana’s face turned fearful, her eyes wide with worry. “This is getting too much, how do we bring her here?” Violet’s dad asked, his face turned frustrated.

Grandma’s face turned thoughtful, her eyes cast downward. “I think the only way to do that is for me to pay Shawn back the money he lent me, with that he will give Violet back to me,” she said.

Diana’s face turned skeptical, her eyebrows furrowing. “Do you think he will accept and Violet will agree to come with you? You know she hates us right now,” she said.

Grandma’s face turned determined, her eyes flashing with conviction. “That’s the only way,” she said.

Violet’s dad’s face turned curious, his eyebrows furrowing. “But where will you get the money?” he asked.

Grandma’s face turned confident, her eyes shining with hope. “From Sly, I will talk to him about it and I know he will agree,” she said.

Diana’s face turned worried, her eyes wide with concern. “You can’t do that, Mom, you will be adding more debt to our debt,” she said.

Grandma’s face turned calm, her eyes softening. “I don’t think so, all he wants is Violet, once he gets her, all our debts will be cleared,” she said.

Violet’s dad’s face turned hopeful, his eyes shining with optimism. “I hope this works, we really need to get out of here and be free from him,” he said, and they sighed, their faces filled with worry and concern.

    ___

The next day, Shawn and Violet were having their dinner, the atmosphere calm and relaxed. Shawn’s face turned concerned, his eyebrows furrowing.

“How are you feeling?” he asked.

Violet’s face turned relieved, her eyes softening. “Feeling better, thanks for asking,” she said, and resumed her meal.

Shawn’s face turned thoughtful, his eyes cast downward. “I will be traveling for business tomorrow,” he said, breaking the silent mood.

Violet’s face turned neutral, her eyes still on her food. “Ok,” she said, without looking up. Then, she was taken aback by the words and raised her face to his. “Wait a second, why are you telling me? You never tell anyone about your travel,” she asked, her eyebrows furrowing.

Shawn’s face turned amused, his eyes sparkling with humor. He scoffed, his expression dismissive.

Just then, the doorbell rang, and one of the men beside the door opened it. Rachel entered, holding a box containing a birthday cake. Her face turned bright, her eyes shining with excitement.

“Hello everyone,” she said, smiling, and they turned to her direction.

Violet’s face turned surprised, her eyebrows furrowing. “Rachel, you are here,” she said, smiling.

Rachel moved to them, her face still bright. “Yeah, I came to surprise him,” she said, smiling at Shawn, and placed the box in front of him. “Happy birthday,” she said, and Violet was surprised. Shawn’s face was neutral, his eyes calm.

“How do you know it’s my birthday?” he asked, his voice low.

Rachel’s face turned confident, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “I know everything about you, Shawn. So, do you like my surprise?” she asked, as she took the cake from the box and placed it in front of him, and placed a candle on it.

Shawn’s face turned hesitant, his eyes cast downward. “You really didn’t have to do this,” he said.

Rachel’s face turned persuasive, her eyes shining with excitement. “Oh, come on, don’t be too grumpy. It’s your day, we still have much time to make a wish,” she said, and Violet was smiling at them.

Violet’s face turned surprised, her eyebrows furrowing. “Wow, I didn’t know it’s your birthday, but anyway, happy birthday,” she said.

Rachel’s face turned encouraging, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “Come on, make a wish,” she said, persuading Shawn, who hesitated.

They started singing the happy birthday song for him. Shawn’s face turned uncomfortable, his eyes cast downward. “I’m sorry, I can’t,” he said, and then stood up to leave. They were surprised at him.

Just then, the doorbell rang again, and Violet’s grandmother entered, holding a big brown envelope loaded with money. Everyone turned to her, and Violet was surprised to see her.

Her grandmother’s face turned serious, her eyes flashing with determination.

“Here is your money, Shawn. Let me have my granddaughter back,” she said, her voice firm, and the room fell silent.

The doctor was done examining Violet’s body, and she fell asleep after a drip was fixed on her. Shawn stood behind them, his expression turned relieved, his eyes calming.

“She is going to be fine in a couple of days, she is just beaten down by fever,” Doc. Matt said, and Shawn sighed, his expression turned grateful, his eyes closing.

“Thank you, Matt,” he said, his voice soft.

Doc. Matt’s expression turned professional, his eyes serious. “You are welcome, when she wakes up let her eat something and take her medication,” he said, and Shawn nodded, his expression turned attentive, his eyes focused.

“Ok, see you around,” Shawn said, as they shook hands, and Doc. Matt left with his briefcase.

Shawn moved to sit beside Violet on the bed, his expression turned gentle, his eyes soft. He covered her probably with the blanket as he continued to stare at her, his expression turned caring, his eyes filled with concern.

At Sly’s mansion, the whole family was in chaos, and Sly kept smirking at them, his expression turned amused, his eyes glinting.

“Mom, I can’t believe you could do this to your own granddaughter,” Bianca said, her expression turned shocked, her eyes wide.

Grandma’s expression turned defensive, her eyes flashing. “Why are you blaming me? It’s not my fault, I was desperate for money, I needed to be free and go live my life,” she said.

Violet’s dad’s expression turned angry, his eyes blazing. “And your best option was to sell my daughter to a dangerous man, who knows what she is going through in the hands of that evil man?” he asked.

Grandma’s expression turned furious, her eyes spitting. “You shut up! Isn’t she your daughter? You sold her first,” she yelled at him.

Bianca’s expression turned sad, her eyes sighing. “What should we do now? Will she ever forgive us for this?” she asked.

Sly’s expression turned serious, his eyes narrowing. “I don’t care about your blabbing, the earlier I get my wife back, the better for you all,” he said, his voice firm.

Bianca’s expression turned fearful, her eyes widening. “We still don’t have the money,” she said.

Sly’s expression turned confident, his eyes glinting. “That’s not the problem, I will be the debt you owe Shawn,” he said.

Grandma’s expression turned surprised, her eyebrows raising. “Really?” she asked excitedly.

Sly’s expression turned sly, his eyes sparkling. “Sure, but on a condition,” he said.

      ____

Shawn was seated on the sofa in Violet’s room, waiting for her to wake up, his expression turned patient, his eyes calm. Although he had already ordered his cook to prepare something for her, he remained seated, watching over her.

Some minutes later, Violet opened her eyes weakly and groaned quietly, her expression turned tired, her eyes dull. Shawn moved to sit next to her and helped her sit upright on the bed, his expression turned gentle, his eyes soft.

“How are you feeling?” he asked, as he felt her forehead and saw her fever had come down, his expression turned relieved, his eyes calming.

Just then, someone knocked on the door, and the cook entered with a tray of food, her expression turned polite, her eyes cast downward. “Here is the food, sir,” she said, and placed the food on the shelf beside the bed before bowing and leaving.

Shawn’s expression turned firm, his eyes serious. “Eat something and then take your drugs,” he said, and Violet hesitated, still feeling weak, her expression turned uncertain, her eyes darting.

“I am too weak to eat,” she said, her voice soft.

Shawn’s expression turned teasing, his eyes glinting. “What do you want me to do then, feed you?” he asked, and Violet nodded, her expression turned hopeful, her eyes sparkling.

Shawn sighed, his expression turned resigned, his eyes rolling. He carried the tray of food and placed it on the bed between them and started to feed her, his expression turned gentle, his eyes soft. She ate until she was full, her expression turned satisfied, her eyes calming.

“I’m okay,” she said, and Shawn returned the remains of the food to the shelf, his expression turned practical, his eyes focused.

“It’s time for your drugs,” he said, and Violet turned her face away, her expression turned disgusted, her eyes widening.

Shawn brought out the drugs from their pack, his expression turned firm, his eyes serious. “Come on, take it,” he said, and

Violet refused, her expression turned stubborn, her eyes flashing. “I am not taking that”.

“Why?” Shawn asked, his expression turned inquiring, his eyebrows raising.

Violet’s expression turned disgusted, her eyes widening. “I don’t want it, the smell makes me wanna puke,” she said, pulling a disgusted face, and Shawn sighed tiredly at her, his expression turned exasperated, his eyes rolling.

“Don’t make me force you, open your mouth and take it,” he said, and Violet refused, her expression turned defiant, her eyes flashing.

Shawn sighed and then forcefully grabbed her chin and placed one tablet of drugs in her mouth, his expression turned firm, his eyes serious. He sipped water and leaned his face closer, giving her the water from mouth to mouth, Violet’s eyes wide with surprise, her expression turned shocked, her eyes widening.

Shawn leaned back and saw the shock in her eyes, his expression turned amused, his eyes glinting. “Do you want me to continue?” he asked, and Violet rolled her head and quickly took the drugs and diluted it with water, her expression turned relieved, her eyes calming.

Shawn smirked and stood up to leave, his expression turned satisfied, his eyes sparkling. “Go in there and take a shower,” he said, and Violet hesitated, her expression turned uncertain, her eyes darting.

“Do you….”.Shawn got interrupted as Violet stood up and rushed to the bathroom and locked the door, her expression turned determined, her eyes flashing. Shawn smirked and walked away, his expression turned amused, his eyes glinting.

Violet’s family was in great shock by Sly’s condition, their expressions turned horrified, their eyes widening.

Violet’s dad’s expression turned disbelieving, his eyebrows raising. “You want us to work as a servant for you?” he asked, his voice trembling.

Sly’s expression turned confident, his eyes glinting. “You heard me loud and clear, and you know I hate repeating myself,” he said, smirking. “If you want me to pay off your mother’s debt in order to have your daughter into this house, you will have to abide by my rules.”

Diana’s expression turned pleading, her eyes shining with tears. “You can’t do this, please,” she said, and Sly scoffed, his expression turning amused, his eyes glinting.

Sly’s expression turned menacing, his eyes narrowing. “I don’t care, you have thirty seconds to decide or you all will be seriously dealt with until you pay me my money with fifty percent interest today,” he threatened, his voice firm.

Violet’s family gasped, their expressions turned fearful, their eyes widening. They quickly fell on their knees, their faces twisted in desperation.

Violet’s dad’s expression turned begging, his eyes pleading. “Please, please, don’t do this,” he begged, and Sly ignored their plead, his expression turned unyielding, his eyes cold.

Sly’s expression turned impatient, his eyes glinting. “You have…ten seconds left,” he said, and Diana’s expression turned frantic, her eyes darting.

“Please, give us more time,” she said, and Sly’s expression turned unyielding, his eyes cold.

Sly’s expression turned menacing, his eyes glinting. “You have five seconds left,” he said, and five of his men came over, surrounding them, their expressions turned serious, their eyes cold.

Grandma’s expression turned desperate, her eyes pleading. “Please, we are begging you,” she said, and Sly’s expression turned unyielding, his eyes cold.

“Alright, move it,” he said, and Violet’s family stood up, their expressions turned resigned, their eyes cast downward, and followed them.

Violet’s eyes blazed with anger as she stared hard at the man, her face contorted in irritation. She struggled to free her hand from his grasp, but he held tight.

The man smirked, his eyes gleaming with amusement. “You look stubborn, I guess you are new here,” he said, his voice dripping with condescension.

Violet’s face twisted in annoyance, her voice firm. “Let go of my hand,” she warned, her eyes flashing with anger.

The rest of the people in the room laughed, seeming to enjoy the exchange. The man stood up, trying to flirt with Violet, but she pushed him off, and he fell back into his chair.

The room fell silent, the people present looking on in surprise. Violet’s face was red with anger, her eyes blazing with fury. “Don’t you ever!” she said, her voice loud and clear.

She turned to leave, almost bumping into Shawn, who was standing behind her. His eyes narrowed, his face expressionless. “What’s going on here?” he asked, his voice firm.

The man who had been flirting with Violet spoke up, his voice whiny. “Your worker was being rude, she just humiliated me.”

Shawn’s eyes flashed with anger, his face cold. He pushed closer to the man, his voice low and menacing. “Don’t you ever try what you did earlier, I saw you trying to flirt with her.”

The man looked away, avoiding Shawn’s cold gaze. “Have a lovely evening,” Shawn said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

He turned to look for Violet, but she was nowhere to be seen. His eyes narrowed, his face expressionless, as he scanned the room, searching for her.

Violet stormed to the corner of the building, her face twisted in anger. “Asshole!” she exclaimed, her voice loud and clear.

Shawn appeared behind her, his expression calm. “What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice firm.

Violet turned to face him, her eyes blazing with fury. “I want to go home,” she said, her voice firm, her face scrunched up in a frown.

Shawn’s expression remained unyielding, his eyes narrowing slightly. “You will, after your job here is done,” he said, his voice firm.

Violet’s face contorted in disgust, her voice laced with sarcasm. “Are you serious right now? I don’t like it in here, take me home or I will find my way home,” she said, her eyes flashing with anger.

Shawn’s expression turned cold, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Listen to me, Sofia, I owe you and I will let you go when I am done with you,” he said, his voice dripping with condescension.

He turned to leave, but his eyes caught sight of a man from afar, wearing a mask and holding a gun aimed in Shawn’s direction. Shawn’s eyes widened, his face twisted in alarm, as he quickly grabbed Violet and dodged the bullet. The gun fired through the air, the sound echoing through the night.

Violet let out a scream, hiding in Shawn’s arms, her face contorted in fear. Shawn’s men were alert, quickly surrounding the area and shooting in the direction of where the gun came from.

Shawn’s men safeguarded the entire area, leading Shawn to his car while he held tight to Violet. They entered the car and drove off, leaving the chaotic scene behind.

An hour later, they arrived home, and Violet quickly ran out of the car, rushing inside the mansion. Shawn stared after her, his expression unreadable, before following her inside with his men.

“Find out who was responsible for the shooting,” he ordered, his voice firm.

His men bowed to him, acknowledging his command, as he walked away.

Violet squeezed herself under the blanket, sobbing in fear. She had watched movies with gunshots before, but she had never encountered anything like this in real life.

The next day, Violet jerked awake from sleep, noticing the time was 10 am. She had an afternoon class at 1 pm, and she quickly stood up, staggering to the bathroom to freshen up.

Some minutes later, she came out of her room, dressed and ready to leave. Her eyes met Shawn’s, who was standing in front of her, his expression calm.

“You are finally awake, I thought you died in your sleep,” he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Violet rolled her eyes at him, her expression annoyed. “Why are you early to go to school, I thought you are on afternoon class,” he asked, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Violet’s expression turned defensive, her voice firm. “Yes, I don’t want to be late on my second day in school.”

She turned to leave, but her eyes met the sight of two of Shawn’s men dragging in a man who had been beaten mercilessly. “Boss, we have him,” one of the guards said, their faces expressionless.

Shawn ordered them to take the man to his private chamber, which they obeyed. Shawn turned to Violet, his eyes narrowing slightly. “What? Aren’t you going to school anymore?” he asked, his voice laced with amusement.

Violet’s expression turned concerned, her eyes fixed on Shawn. “What are you going to do to him?” she asked, her voice laced with worry.

Shawn scoffed, his expression dismissive. “None of your business,” he said, his voice firm, before walking away.

Violet sat alone in the hall, her head resting on the table. Her assigned guard had left a while ago to get her something to eat. She was lost in thought when a voice interrupted her.

“Mind if I sit with you?” a female voice asked.

Violet raised her face to see a young, elegant lady, dressed casually in a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. She wore medicated glasses and had a warm, welcoming smile. Violet’s expression softened, and she smiled back.

“Yeah, sure,” Violet said, her voice friendly.

The lady sat next to her, her eyes sparkling with warmth. “Thank you, I’m Mabel,” she said, extending her hand.

Violet shook her hand, her smile widening. “Violet,” she replied.

Mabel’s eyes lit up with interest. “Are you a new student here?” she asked, her voice curious.

Violet nodded, her expression open. “Yes, you?”

Mabel smiled, her eyes sparkling. “Yes, I transferred here last semester”.

“So, you study business too?”Violet asked.

Mabel nodded, her expression enthusiastic. “Yes, my family owns a business company, so in the future, I’m hoping to take over the family business.”

Violet’s eyes widened with interest, her smile warm. “Nice,” she said.

      “What about you?”Mabel asked.

Violet hesitated, her expression uncertain, until she was interrupted by her assigned guard.

“Here is your lunch, Miss Sofia,” he said, placing the paper lunch bag in front of her. He moved two feet away from them, his eyes scanning the area.

Violet’s face flushed with embarrassment, her eyes avoiding Mabel’s gaze. Mabel’s eyes narrowed, her expression curious.

“Um, you have a bodyguard?” Mabel asked, her voice laced with surprise.

Violet sighed, her expression sheepish. “Believe me, it’s a long story,” she said.

Mabel’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. “Why is he calling you Miss Sofia?” she asked, her voice gentle.

Violet’s face twisted in embarrassment, her eyes avoiding Mabel’s gaze. “It’s a long story too,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mabel’s expression softened, her eyes filled with understanding. “Oh,” she said, noticing the embarrassment in Violet’s face.

       ★SHAWN’S MANSION★

Later in the day, Shawn paced around the living room, his expression growing increasingly furious as the minutes ticked by. Violet was not back from school, and there was no way to reach her since she didn’t have a phone. Shawn tried calling the guard and the driver’s numbers, but none of them were connecting.

Just as Shawn was about to explode with anger, Violet and the guard entered the room, followed by the driver. Shawn’s eyes narrowed, his face twisted in a scowl.

“What happened to your phones?” he yelled at them, his voice echoing through the room.

The guard and the driver bowed their heads, their expressions sheepish. Violet knew they were in trouble because they had gotten delayed due to the school activities.

Violet stepped forward, her expression apologetic. “Please don’t blame them, it’s my fault,” she said, her voice soft.

Shawn’s scowl deepened, his eyes flashing with anger. He frowned at the guard and the driver before stumbling away, his anger still simmering.

Violet sighed, her expression relieved. She turned to the guard and the driver. “Am sorry, will this get you guys in trouble?” she asked, her voice laced with concern.

The guard’s expression was reassuring. “Not really, Miss Sofia,” he said, his voice calm.

Violet sighed again, her expression thoughtful. She walked away, leaving the guard and the driver to depart.
